You Are Being Manipulated

  • So far, New York has clocked 37,258 confirmed cases and 385 deaths from COVID-19.
Using that Devil's Device (math) we divide 385 deaths by 37,258 reported cases and come up with:
  • 0.010333
Multiply by 100 and the death rate for New York as of a day ago is 1.0333% - right in line with all of the Illinois numbers we posted yesterday. The article is pretty much Gov Cuomo speculating that there may have been a teeny bit of overreaction on the part of state government:
  • Sweeping statewide quarantine orders may not have been the most effective strategy to combat the coronavirus, Gov. Andrew Cuomo conceded on Thursday, as he weighed plans to restart the economy.

“We closed everything down. That was our public health strategy,” said Cuomo during an Albany press briefing. “If you re-thought that or had time to analyze that public health strategy, I don’t know that you would say ‘Quarantine everyone.'”

It’s the third day in a row that Cuomo has publicly mused about quarantines and how best to eventually restart the Empire State’s shattered economy.
No one in the left-wing media is covering this either:
  • On Thursday Dr. Fauci co-authored a report on the coronavirus in the New England Journal of Medicine. In the report Dr. Fauci now argues that the mortality rate of the coronavirus may be much closer to a very bad flu.
Just four days ago, Fauci was declared the leading expert on the coronavirus outbreak by the media, but now (with increased data) he's walking back his predictions (which the media won't cover). Oh, and about that data?
  • Neil Ferguson at Imperial College London gave evidence today to the UK’s parliamentary select committee on science and technology as part of an inquiry into the nation’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.

He said that expected increases in National Health Service capacity and ongoing restrictions to people’s movements make him “reasonably confident” the health service can cope when the predicted peak of the epidemic arrives in two or three weeks. UK deaths from the disease are now unlikely to exceed 20,000, he said, and could be much lower.
This after a prediction of over half-a-million deaths in Britain and two-million plus in the USA, now he's completely retracting those assertions - after the world economy collapsed.

We are being scammed. Previous year or so 500,000 ppl were hospitalized with the flu and by a miracle there enough beds in the US and no pols or media were complaining about the danger of the flu season or the lack of beds. Roughly 100,000 ppl have been infected with Wuhan virus. A little over 1,600 have died. Out of that 100,000, 80% don’t need hospitalization. And just for shits and giggles rough estimate leaves a hair over 19,000 requiring beds. So how is it that we have a shortage of hospital beds in the US?

In two weeks, the public will have a very different attitude towards COVID-19. AND THEY'LL HAVE A VERY DIFFERENT ATTITUDE TOWARDS POLITICIANS AND MEDIA. The left wing and their media minions are going to lose in their battle against Trump.

The grocery stores are quickly filling with product. The Sam's Club in Hodgkins, IL normally rings up 1.5 million in sales per week. During the Left Wing MEDIA FUELED panic, sales jumped to 2.8 million. The panic is over, and now the store has much fewer shoppers and racks and shelves being filled daily. The public no longer fears the Boogie Man named COVID-19.

Here are the facts:
The media induced a panic. No doubt about it.
They induced the economy to collapse. Was it to influence the upcoming presidential election? Play that game, you better talk to a lawyer. Here's a definition for you:

Treason - The crime of betraying one's country, especially by attempting to kill the sovereign or overthrow the government.

If the media is cheering their increased ratings during this panic, they better take a good look at the upcoming mental health numbers. People lost jobs. They're stressed out already; And you assholes had to throw a bullshit panic at them?

The mental health issues the media created? Take a look at the number of suicides since 2008. It's a pretty strong upward movement. Coincidentally, an economic crisis occurred in 2008. The damage the media caused to the economy during this current crisis has yet to be measured. Did you assholes in the media ever think of the ramifications of the mental health crisis you created? Did you ever think suicides would go up because of your bullshit reporting?

Look at the increase in suicides with your increased advertising revenue as blood money.

To those of you angry with the media: Would you like to file a complaint with the FCC? The Investigations and Hearing Division handles complaints and other enforcement matters involving non-technical broadcast issues such as broadcast of obscene and/or indecent material, HOAXES, licensee-conducted contests, and broadcast of telephone conversations. This Division also acts as trial staff in Commission hearings.

HERE'S THE ADDRESS:

Complaints alleging violation of the Commission's rule regarding broadcast of hoaxes should be sent to the Federal Communications Commission, Enforcement Bureau, Investigations & Hearings Division, 445 12th Street, SW, Washington, D.C. 20554.

Those of you already dealing with mental health issues exasperated by the media hoax, talk to a lawyer. The bastards in the media corporate offices better start talking to their lawyers. At this point, the jury pool won't be on their side.

The hysteria is right up there with my favorite commie issue ... climate change. We are destroying the best economy of my life for the flu. Death rates are probably still lower than 1% b/c many were not and won’t be tested. I was sick two weeks ago and probably had it. I said it before and I’ll say it again, the number of suicides from unemployed Americans will far outpace the deaths from COVID-19 - I’m not trying to be a smart-azz - I am serious - the depression rates will skyrocket in this country. So sad - media needs to fuck itself.

It's easy to armchair quarterback all this with 20/20 hindsight. But that's not what we had at the time.

What we did have was a disease we knew little about, which is highly contagious, and spreads rapidly. We knew it killed some people, didn't kill others. It really fucked up others with double lung pneumonia, feelings of breathing glass, etc.

It rightly scared the living shit out of people, and as it spread around the world (because of how we all travel), the reasonable thing was to shut it all down until we got it figured out.

We've ramped up our medical response, have a reasonable handle on it, and have gained a lot of data about this thing in the past month.

The world economy got whacked but will recover. I'm just hoping that it doesn't turn out this was some crazy chinese bioweapon that got out when a lab worker went to lunch... if that's the case, China's gonna have some pretty big bills to pay - and that'll be uglier than the virus was.

At the very least this pandemic exposed some real holes in our defenses. We need to kick the powers-that-be in their collective asses and force them to focus on preparing for something like this happening again, and to forget the bullshit coddling criminals, open borders, free! free! free! nonsense.

Personally SCC, I think overreacting was better than not. Think about this, if we did overreact we still probably saved a few extra lives and the economy should roar back to life fairly quickly. Both of which would help Trump even more. Had he not done enough, the haters would have used it to help them in the election. Plus, traffic to and from work has been so much nicer as has the decrease in telemarking calls.

Hey SCC,

Woke Bozo said yesterday that the supposed "not a lockdown, it's not martial law" order may extend "deep into April". The latest Cook County numbers do not present a strong case for doing so:
- 2339 confirmed cases
- 20 deaths
- CFR = 0.89%

CCME reports for 15 of the 20 deaths show:
- Average age is 68
- 12 males, 3 females
- All but one had a preexisting condition with the deadly duo of heart disease and diabetes being the most popular. COPD and other respiratory illnesses popular as well with a smattering of cancers.

If the goal is to save lives, destroying the village to save the village is going to cratering the local economy (if it hasn't already) and end up killing more people due to everything but the virus.

Just like with crime stats, we'll be posting additional virus stats to the site soon since they're not too easy to find and the local media blue checks don't ask many questions.

Guys and gals, LOOK AT THE INFECTION RATES PER 1,000 PEOPLE.

That is the number to be focused on. Wuhan (China) 4.59 Lombardy (Italy) 3.48; NYC 2.15

Chicago RIGHT NOW is about 1.5. So for every 1,000 people you encounter, there are 1.5 infected.

YOU SHOULD BE CAREFUL NOW, but as more data comes in and that number approaches 2 or 2.5 or 3, which it very likely could, then the shit will start hitting the fan and our hospitals will be overwhelmed. Be careful now about all your interactions with the public. Making arrests, ordering food, picking up groceries, etc.

But be very careful as that ratio of infections per 1,000 gets higher.

The Dems didn’t think and truly hoped this health crisis is going to last until July to October (no DNC convention, no debates).
They are certainly going to try and draw it out.
But as it looks like the crisis may be receding, another seasonal spike in the fall is being planned and put out by FakeNews.
Needless to say the Dems are failing at this latest whipped up biased media-fired innuendo campaign.

Did anyone notice President Trump was giving his daily +1 hour Q&A news conferences around 10:30 CST and then Larri & JBee followed up by giving and refuting everything the President said by noon. Not sure when NY Coumo or CA Newsome were doing theirs.
President then changed to 5-6 p.m. CST press conferences. Some coincidence, eh?
The President is working around the clock...Larri and JBee are 9 to 5’er alarmist dolittles.

As erratic numbers from across the ocean show suspicion, USA is doing more testing and capable of doing precise testing than others, it still can be manipulated here. Hospitals don’t particularly side with DJT and hardline policies, obamacare cuts hit them hard.

Believe Larri’s Corona Compstat and we all should be gravely ill by May 1st.
I would not hesitate to think for a minute that Larri and JBee along with their cheerleaders and donor supporters are hiding plenty of truth about medical supplies, facility capacities, medications and of course number of the sick and conditions.
As dire and serious as this crisis may be, they are willing to exploit it for politics.

Angry Propagandists. not leaders, not innovators, not optimists.
Larri and JBee are doing their best to keep the fear and panicking going.
All they have to do is to keep up blaming the federal government for everything before and definitely going to afterwards. Nobody at their “invitation only” call-in press conferences ever is allowed to rattle them with serous off the cuff questions of what exactly the Federal isn’t doing for Chicago and Illinois. Vague replies and diversion is good enough for local FakeNews.

I cannot fault any of these researchers, epidemiologists and scientists. This is something new to the world and never before seen in humans. No one knew what would happen, how fast it would spread or how many would die. No one was prepared for it,there is no cure and the only model they had was the pandemic of 1918. They are learning as they go and that is normal. Hopefully, things will lighten up this Summer, there will be no rebound and they will have a vaccine. The next thing is to get China to cleanup its act for every deadly virus comes out of that country.

=======
The case fatality rate for the virus is about 1%, maybe as low as half a percent. It is not a death sentence. About 80% get no symptoms or very mild ones.

1% does not sound like a lot but the disease spreads very rapidly and those deaths will occur in a short period of time.

If the course of the disease continues, somewhere between 80 and 95% of the population will become infected and half to one percent of those will die.

The population of the US is about 340 million. Do the math.

Sir, your numbers are spot on, however, you do not include varibles, which often help explain an unexpected outcome. I took stats too. While we can't determine variables or their effect on outcome without a study, we can come up with a theory. I postulate that the self quarantine and social distancing, especially for the at risk groups of seniors and imunocomprimised, is keeping the death rate supressed. Which is good. In other words the ones most likely to die have been taken out of the population of sick, or their numbers are reduced, which is reflected in the death rate. What is scary is the number of otherwise healthy people who are dying, and getting seriously ill.

Politics aside, there is nothing wrong with taking actions to avert a worst-case scenario. And then if you have successfully altered the trajectory of an impending crisis, everyone can sit back and criticize the overreaction as unnecessary.

If the lockdowns intended to slow the spread worked, we will never see what would have been. Since States had no plan, lacked equipment & were generally unprepared, buying time was a reasonable course of action whether Democrat or Republican. Nature doesn't care about politics.

Do you really think the economy will rebound quickly?? Don't be too sure. We have lost trillions of dollars and don't forget the pension plans of most governments and private businesses are based on the stock market and oil. Note the oil shale business in North America is in dire straights at this time. Job losses will be high in that business.

The Chinese have "recovered enough" that their economy is down just 3/10th of one percent. They have purchased stocks in American and European stocks at extremely low prices and have purchased American companies that have locations in mainland China. The thought of bringing those businesses back here are now gone. That will defeat the "Made in America" desire on how to boost our economy and punish China. The Chinese have purchased more of the debt the U.S. has and they probably will assume some of the $2.3 Trillion of this stimulus giveaway. This will be a financial boost to China's economy and and what I see as another hit to the U.S.

If this was a planned bio-weapon or a mistake gone wrong, it has been a best case scenario for China. To them, the loss of a few thousand people is not a big deal to gain power in the world at the expense of the U.S. and Europe. Sounds similar to the induced panic and lack of caring by our own MSM??

The major risk from this thing was and still is overloading the medical system, not the mortality rate. This is why nobody cared until Italy, then everybody went nuts. Overreaction or no, the risk is legitimate and it's greatly amplified by the fact that the world decided to stop contingency planning several decades ago and just party until the booze runs out.

That being said, there's no disputing that quite a lot of political sorts are not letting the crisis go to waste. Massive amounts of groupthink and hysteria. The good news is it may ultimately be the regressive left's undoing: that faction has always been propped up by corporate weenies who locate their giant cube farms in crappy urban areas Because Reasons(tm), and the big corps just got dragged kicking and screaming into the telecommuter future. The Boeings and Abbots of the world are going to discover that a lot of what they were doing organizationally doesn't make sense, and really didn't make sense after about 2010, and they're gonna start to decentralize.

While there may never be proof to the standards of honest journalism, the following is obvious:

1. Red China created this virus.

2. Red China tested the effects of this virus on their own population. Having an abundance of pawn population to sacrifice, Red China did just that.

3. Once Red China had determined the effacacy of the virus they created, Red China proceeded to disseminate said virus. Primary target being the U.S. of A., with Europe and any other affected nations being secondary, tho effective channels.

4. Red China, being intrinsically similiar to jihadist delusional world domination freaks, thus seeks to that end via economic terrorism, using virus Red China created and disseminated as the means.

5. The globalistas assist in this. The democrats of infamy are part of this. As are the propaganda vehicles commonly known as the main stream media.

6. Intentional, deliberate, planned and executed as obviously as drooling biden nuzzling little girls.

7. The desperations of the evil cabals is no longer hidden, nor concealable. The stench permeates the world.

Numbers from the John Hopkins Covid-19 tracker (https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6)
worldwide there are reported 649,904 confirmed cases
worldwide there are reported 30, 249 deaths confirmed from Covoid-19
using your math = 4.6% death rate

I personally think that is terrifying.

It canceled the waste of time called compstat. Traffic is great. Gas is reasonable. We still get paid. Sure they’ll go after the pension to pay for all this but for right now? I’m enjoying the fake news virus. Gives trump ammo to close our boarders.

My trivia. What is buried under the grass at Belmont Harbor and other locations on the lakefront?

Are those the concrete foundations for the Nike missile batteries?

You win the prize.

Most people don't know that the army had nuclear (never formally admitted too but as a last resort that would make sense)tipped Nike missiles ready for the last defense of the Chicago area.

http://www.ed-thelen.org/C-41-Epperson/

The CPD got involved there in 1971 when a group of Native Americans tried to "reclaim" the land.

Above link shows the CPD at the site.

If anything like this ever happens again, maybe they'll be quicker to SHUT THE BORDERS right off the bat, so the contagion doesn't have a chance to spread like it did in this case. Disease used to be a major concern with international travel. It still should be.

Unfortunately, if this turns out to be the CDC "crying wolf", people will be more likely to dismiss future potential threats. And the NEXT potential pandemic, or the one after that, might actually turn out to be the real thing.

Never forget--Fauci is an Obama guy. Check his bio.

He’s been in his position since 1984. He’s a Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump guy. Also, you’re an idiot

Confirmed cases tend to be the worst ones - I've seen estimates that 80% of cases are never confirmed, because of lack of severity of symptoms, or availability of tests. One epidemiologist said that when you factor in all cases, confirmed or not, the death rate is actually closer to .05 percent - a half of a percent - one in every 200 cases.

i was there in 1971 with s&s to knock down the fences for cpd to evict aim, the american indian movement. surface to air conventional missle batteries ringed the lakefront. belmont & lsd was just one. farther out along the canal along 294 was a ring of radar domes, some of the towers are still in place and can be seen from the road. by the time they were erected they were obsolete because they were to shoot down bombers and the soviets had gone to icbms. scary times as kids, kids today only worry about losing their wifi lol. as for the commenter that said manufacturing and supply lins are shut down nothing could be further from the truth. one of the first thing trump did is exempt almost everyone as essential and extended hours of service for truckers. factories are running and truckers are going full out. if there were no supplies the cities would burn quick, no politician is gonna let that happen. once everybody has 1000 rolls of toilet paper at home things will return to normal. same reason the weed and lika stores will stay open. peeps need their essentials lol.

Pandemic response is the responsibility of localities, hospitals, states. Federal government gives back up. The rates of infection are higher in cities. They need to be prepared. Interesting that Trump commented today that a supplier told him just one hospital that ordered 20,000 masks a week tops is now asking for 300,000. Might be good for someone to look into. Since the hospitals, local and state governments are so unprepared for this--spent money on things like new furniture and stuff--maybe some are just stocking up ahead of time for the next time, on the feds dime. Plus gives JB and others cover and an opportunity to slam Trump for being "unprepared."
