Captain in 001 was on a meeting with the Commander. Word is... the department is currently in Phase 4 of that 46 page order sent out last week. There are apparently 700 members on the medical for a number of different reasons. Exempts are thinking by this wkend we will be in phase 5 with 12hr shifts and the possibly days off cancelled.
Over 30 inmates and half dozen guards tested positive in CC jail. Now they are worried they released some with virus. Can you believe this sht.
Almost 800 people on the medical, and that number will go up before it drops.
The effects of such a shortage are being felt and leaves the city no choice.
While extending shifts/cancelling days off will temporary plug the holes- it will also accelerate the rate at which officers contract the virus.
Be safe brothers and sisters, take care of yourselves, family, and each other first and foremost.

That would be needed if something really big happens or is predicted to happen. Nothing like that is being predicted. I could very well be missing something. If I am, please, give us all some examples that would make it probable that 12 hour days is coming. If not, quit stoking the fires of bullshit.

It’s pretty simple. Since there is so far around 800 officers on medical within the next week we can expect this number going up to 1000 if not hire. 3 watches with 12 cars per watch=72 officers assuming every unit is 10-4. 2 watches with 12 cars per watch=48 officers. Ta da! Rocket science solved. :)

12 hour days is for when enough of us get sick that it's no longer possible to man 3 watches. 24 hour coverage with fewer people. However, this department is so fucked up that they'll start the 12 hour days before it's necessary, and end up burning out those that are left to work.

This is a very dangerous situation that incompetent politicians could put police officers in. There is so much wrong with this and set up for disaster for any police officer taking action. I highly recommend giving verbal only dispersals. If you are foolish enough to take it further have a Sgt respond first. For Sgt’s I would recommend getting a Lt on scene too. Everyone needs to feel the pain of what COPA, ACLU, Kim Foxx and any given law firm will do to you. This can not fall in just POs laps like it usually does. Remember, Lightfoot says it’s ok for police station lobbies to be open for no reason at all, our busses and subways to be packed with people, but now it’s not ok for people to be outside in fresh air? Makes no sense. Lawyers are licking their cops. Lightfoot, Pritzker and Beck won’t be sitting in your deposition. You will be alone as you list your assets.

Sure but why doesn't she target those hanging out on the street corners selling dope. Perhaps more like Singapore than China, but where they watch you and keep track of you, order you to do something and expect you to comply. Lots of rules. And unlike the voluntary shelter-in-place requests issued in the states Singapore’s system is rigorously enforced. This means phone calls, random home visits, and technology. Those under their Stay-Home Notice are texted several times a day for a variety of things (i.e. So they can check in via GPS to confirm their whereabouts). But I haven't seen any Coronavirus Challenge videos from there as yet, so perhaps some bright side to it there.
It seems the states and people in Europe are showing how dumb they are with brainless young people acting like morons. What gets me are the comments, not caring if older people die, hey they have been taught boomers are ALL bad. I wonder if these kids have a Nan and if they would be upset if she died from CV. Cincinnati police are temporarily suspending in-person responses to certain 911 calls for service starting on Tuesday in an effort to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Isaac said he reviewed the department’s essentials functions and modified the response plan “to reduce unnecessary contact between officers and the public to reduce the spread of COVID-19.”
“I want to also assure everyone that if there’s an emergency situation, we will be there,” Isaac said.
During the coronavirus outbreak and beginning Tuesday morning, Cincinnati police officers will no longer respond in person to the following reports: criminal damaging, dog bites, lost property, lost or stolen license plates, phone harassment, property damage or found property.
Police will no longer respond to assault reports, unless a suspect is still present or the victim requires medical attention, breaking and entering reports unless a suspect is still present, menacing reports “unless suspect is expected or threatens to return or is part of the elements of domestic violence” or theft reports “where there is no possibility of immediate apprehension.”
Police are asking victims to report those crimes through the online or telephone reporting system.
Isaac said the announced calls for service do not require dispatch or a physical police response and will be referred for online reporting or telephone reporting when applicable.
Issac issued a statement along with the response plan:
“I want all of the residents and visitors to Cincinnati to understand that the Cincinnati Police Department is ready and able to respond to any emergency call from the public. Our recently implemented Differential Response Plan is intended to limit the exposure of our officers and the public to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and our desire is to continue to provide the highest level of police service, while maximizing our efficiency and effectiveness. To be clear, all of the calls for service listed in Differential Response Plan will be policed adequately and dealt with to remove/resolve the illegal acts. None of those illegal acts are condoned and all will be suppressed/resolved. In addition, assaults and all physical harm and immediate threats to property will be responded to in person when requested. Whenever someone is in physical danger the police will respond in person. All other listed calls for service will also be responded to, and sufficiently addressed, but may or may not involve in person contact with the complainant. For example, if a noise complaint is resolved, an officer will not be required to discuss with the original complainant in person, but someone will talk to the complainant by phone, and the noise complaint will be addressed. Please know that the men and women of the Cincinnati Police Department are here to serve you and we will be there for you when you need us. We are grateful for the support and encouragement our Department has received from citizens at this challenging time and we appreciate the cooperation and compliance we have received as well” said Chief Eliot K. While school's out, school officers will be put into a regular D.O.G. to smooth out the manpower shortage on weekends. Can start Sunday, 4th P. starts Thursday. Oh, and you'll get paid for the 8.5.....Now, all the BS'ers will magically come off the medical.
Exposure goes down by 50% with a 6 hour shift, not increased by 30% with a 12 hour day.
I don't see where this is that hard.

Scc off topic but curious if you could inform your readers of this. Covid cases have doubled since yesterday at the Cook County Jail (As many as 65 inmates including staff) Source CWB... They let out 300 inmates just today many who could be infected. Sheriff officers at the jail are being forced to work while many of Sheriff Dart's political appointed excempt staff from 31st are allowed to stay at home according to WGN. WGN also reporting the jail is filthy and Corrections officers are not getting any protective gear they have requested. Could you do a post on this if possible?

Exactly. Also, how many moms and dads are both on the job? No one wants to baby sit kids with all this going on. Kids can be carriers without symptoms. Kids are home from school. At least one parent needs to be home. Most coppers parents are seniors and should be in isolation and not around other people including their own grandchildren. When mom and dad are cops/firemen/nurses/essential workers they can not both be at work at the same time while a child under the age of 14 is home alone(illinois law). What do we do? Abuse the medical or pray to God the "bosses" will make arrangements for one parent to be home with their child/children? I would risk being awol before i abandon my kiddos. Fuck you brass!

April vri was suspended because the department is getting ready for 12 hour days. That decision could come tomorrow, next week, or next month. No one knows for sure when because it's a numbers game based on the percentage of officers on the medical,for any reason, not just the virus.

What if person has no ID?
What if they refuse to stop?
What is the applicable statute?
What is the court date? If a criminal allegation does it have be before a court judge, not a City hearing officer.
What does Legal Affairs say about all this?
Did the City Corporation Counsel approve?
I wouldn't touch anybody until I have official written information and instructions in hand.

Second of all, do you think the shitbirds they just released early from the county have been training?
You should probably remember that when you find yourself knee-deep and physically overmatched on the street, all that reading won’t save you. It will likely be another “meathead” like me, who often have to save the word-nerds on the street.
You can be sharp in mind AND capable in body, it doesn’t have to be one or the other.
Being physically fit is PART OF OUR JOB! Hence the power test to get hired, it is a requirement.

Sorry, but many gym rats are meatheads. The same type of meatheads that complain that the gyms are closed even though the rest of the outside world is doing everything they can to slow the spread of COVID19. You know, out of every spot for people to have access to in the station, it should be the small hot room with no ventilation, where people directly touch the same equipment without disinfecting it leaving sweat, saliva, and Lord knows what other remnants laying and flying around the room. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out alternatives to lifting weights in a tiny shitty gym.
