By most accounts, the search is over.
But why risk having the new girl (or guy) start off with a potentially disastrous pandemic, an uptick in shootings, potential dead bodies, with a decimated police force unable to do much in the way of stopping the violence.
Of course, maybe it all works out and Beck leaves with a glowing letter of recommendation for his next carpetbagging job.

I work in 016 and was detailed for a short time to the virus testing for first responders. What is sickening to me is that the majority of people getting tested said they had absolutely no symptoms at all or had any exposure that they know of but just wanted to get tested. You morons are flooding the testing centers with tests that are going to come back negative while other people can’t get tests and create more of a testing backlog for results. Most cops on this job are the worst for reasons like this. Just like the lines at the Costco’s getting in an hour early just because they can. Just like the “hero’s” who are complaining that they make too much money to get a stimulus check. Are you kidding?!?!? You have a job!!!!! You are working!!! You make more than 75k and people don’t have work right now. You wonder why people hate us.

I work in 016 and was detailed for a short time to the virus testing for first responders. What is sickening to me is that the majority of people getting tested said they had absolutely no symptoms at all or had any exposure that they know of but just wanted to get tested. You morons are flooding the testing centers with tests that are going to come back negative while other people can’t get tests and create more of a testing backlog for results. Most cops on this job are the worst for reasons like this. Just like the lines at the Costco’s getting in an hour early just because they can. Just like the “hero’s” who are complaining that they make too much money to get a stimulus check. Are you kidding?!?!? You have a job!!!!! You are working!!! You make more than 75k and people don’t have work right now. You wonder why people hate us.

Totally agree & don’t think you are a douchebag as someone else pointed out. Most of us are fortunate. I have family not working at all right now and friends with small businesses that may never reopen. Grocery workers are probably in just as much a danger of catching the virus as us, if not more. People need to use their head. You signed on to this job with a certain amount of risk. That doesn’t mean we should have to settle for a lower standard imposed on general public etc, but yes, most of us need to stop whining.

No, it is not extortion. But, no self respecting PI would take the case just to dig up dirt. That would be unethical and the PI could open himself up to a violation of privacy lawsuit
As of 5 p.m. 17 inmates have tested positive for covid-19 at the Cook County Jail. Tests still pending of 31 additional inmates suspected of having virus. Tommy won't keep his beloved inmates in quarantine. Now the Mayor is saying many if the inmates released onto the public may have virus also. Great leadership.

I hope you get scene very soon but do realize that some people can have no symptoms at all and still can be positive. Iceland’s mass testing finds half of carriers show no symptoms. Get that 1/2! So people have the right to be worried as they could catch it and show no symptoms. So the transmission rates could be much higher. Same could happen here in the states.
So would you just wait and continue on interacting with family as usual or would you want to get tested? I mean what about your parents you see regularly and what about your kids? So being mad because people are worried and don't want to die or pass it on to someone else is just stupid. The cities are doing a terrible job with this. They tell sanitation workers they are an essential service and must get on with it and don't seem to care at all about protecting them. Happened in NYC and Pittsburgh too. Not fair to call Beck a carpetbagger. He was a successful chief in a way better police department ( by all standards) . Daley tried to recruit Bratton at one time and he wanted no part of the political situation here. Beck will be the best this town can get for some time to come, especially if you look at who bothered to even apply here. LA's middleclass and minority population wont agree you. Most of them warned us when he was considered to come here. At Exempt level in the CPD, the concern is not the membership, its maintaining your exempt salary and resume.
