Golf Courses?

  • State officials have reversed course and decided to shut down golf courses in Illinois.

The governor’s office revised its stay-at-home executive order Thursday. While restaurants and liquor stores can remain open, recreational sports businesses — including golf courses — are “not considered essential businesses” amid the shutdown because of the coronavirus pandemic.

That message was delivered to golf industry professionals in a letter late Thursday afternoon. The letter was signed by four groups, including the Illinois Section PGA and Chicago District Golf Association.

The decision is a blow to the golf industry, which is reeling from the effects of COVID-19, and golfers who believe they can maintain a safe social distance while playing.
If you're closer than ten feet to another golfer, you're doing it wrong. But liquor stores are "essential."

OT: Corona in 016. The station needs to be closed down and deep cleaned per CDC requirements. Windows and doors opened for 24 hours. Then cleaning solution left on surfaces for minutes before being wiped away. All keyboards removed and replaced with keyboards that can be wiped clean. Etc. Move to emergency location for all operations to St. Cornelius. Anything else is placing every citizen in 016 at risk with contact by the police. Protect the citizens and clean the station properly.

Ridiculous. Has anyone been in a grocery store? They are cesspools of sick people. It's where coronavirus is going to it's final push.

In any case, they could even have the golfers ride single, one person to a cart. Or walk. No way they'd be closer than 6 ft.

How soon will that include massage parlors and strip clubs?

Any governor can declare martial law when the constitution goes out the window, even JB the hurt. But he and Cuomo want Trump to do it and be the fall guy. I understand we are in uncharted waters but let's please stop freaking out. The dems always want easy answers for complex problems. That's never going to work so stop fn with one of the few things I still think is safe like golf

Woah woah woah. SCC, I’ve never disagreed before. This is a first. I sense your sarcasm about liquor stores being “essential”. They are essential!!!! In the words of woody harrelson in kingpin “I don’t puke when I drink, I puke when I dont.”

Are the weed dispensaries still open? I think the government should legalize heroin and let people set up heroin dispensaries. Then if that makes money we could legalize meth. Think of all the tax dollars first. Don’t even consider the people’s lives being destroyed. We should be ashamed of ourselves for allowing this stuff to happen.

It’s not the golf course itself that’s dangerous, it’s the socializing at the 19th hole that’s the problem.

Weed joints are essential also notice how they covertly went back to selling recreational weed I guess that is essential right governor? Everyone understands medical marijuana because it is medical like a pharmacy gives out recreational and are they keeping it 6 feet distance or more in the small shops? All about the money all about who’s eyes you’re looking through the governor and mayor are obviously blindedby the weed!

No golfing, no biking, no running. Liquor stores open. It almost seems like they don't like anything that is good for you.

I’ve noticed that a lot of states that are instituting draconian shut-down orders are allowing liquor stores and golf courses to remain open. I guess that’s because politicians like to drink and play golf. At our club the bar and dining areas are closed, but you can BYO. I am rather surprised at what the politicians deem “essential.”

As for all LEOs and Fire Department personnel, thank you for all you do and for always being there for the rest of us. You are appreciated more than you know.

Apparently you're not a golfer. Golfers are in close contact when they are driving between the tees and the fairway. And what's golf if you cannot sit in the bar at the end of the game and change your scores.

A decision that shows these governors copy each other in stupid moves. Tuesday WI governor Evers announced the state's Shelter In Place order effective Wednesday March 25. Golf courses are on the list of non-essential businesses which have to close. Now there's an online petition to get it changed.

JB the Hut must really be getting off every time he gets to shut down an athletic activity. The fat kid who could never participate gets to stop people who are able to do something athletic. Just because he can't reach around his belly to get 2 hands on a golf club, he's getting wood shutting down golf. Of course he needs a mirror to confirm that.

Someone should follow this fat slob and Groot around and document all the made up "rules" they break. Typical of the commies. Lots of rules for the general public no rules for the elite.

So, the Trump hospitality companies are barred from any govt. coronavirus assistance. I wonder how much assistance money the Pritzker family is pulling in in Hyatt assistance?

I think there is some kind of SCAM.
The hospitals know that they will get paid from insurers for testing for covid-19. I think the nurses are being pressured to say it’s covid-19 and not just FLU that hits every year.

You wait and see.

If you missed channel 7 yesterday JB said he was busy trying to provide equipment for medical personnel and first offenders After a commercial they did a segment where the CEO of Hart Schaftner and Marx said he has an empty factory in DesPlaines that can produce 250,000 masks and gowns that meet the requirements and he has called for 2 weeks and the state hasn’t responded to his offer and to authorize it. That’s 1/2 million masks that could have been made in the last two weeks. CEO said he made numerous calls and is frustrated with the state(JB)
