Airhart Shooter Trial

We noticed that the Airhart shooter trial is getting a lot of play in some of the comment sections, so we'll give it it's own thread. Here's a couple of links to local coverage: Channel 7; sun-times. We shall just toss out this opinion and an observation - under no circumstances should Airhart have been left in that room bleeding. The feebs knew this guy was armed and stuck up banks. There was no excuse not to have heavy weapons on the scene. None. Optimally, there should have been an heavily armored entry team on standby near the scene. And the minute a copper went down, that team should have made entry and killed Salley. Period. End of Story.

But this is what happens when you let accountants and lawyers play police. You don't believe it? Look at the Donald Marquez shooting. Marquez was dying in the hallway and 3 or 4 CPD guys went into the line of fire, returned fire to suppress (killing the gunman) and dragged Marquez out to paramedics. That's how to handle an officer down call. And if you can't (or won't) do that for one of our own, please, for everyone else's sake, find an inside job or quit.

C.P.D. guys were not involved except for Airhart. We all known if youre going to act it is better to ask for forgiveness than permission.

The sniper that had the shot was the F.B.I.'s. They wouldn't give the green light to take the shot. Kobel stated that Airhart laying their without medical treatment for 2 hours had no out come on him being brain dead.

Supt. HILLARD could have given the order to our HBT to go in and get Detective Airhart but he chose to give the order to the Channel 7 News reporter take over.

It is absolute bullshit that Detective Airhart’s condition did not deteriorate during the 2 hours without medical attention.

Heard from someone at work here, that was at the trial, that one of the FBI guys shot the offender three times. Salley was cross examining him and the agent stated that he was the one that shot him.

Sounds like they had him, but they or no SOS went in.

So the offender, who had been shot three times, was too much of a threat for the four agents with Airhart? If Airhart had been an FBI agent, I imagine they would not have left him there for two hours.

The FBI agents who were with Airhart make the cops at Columbine look like superheroes for only waiting 45 minutes before going in to rescue the kids.

I can't imagine a huge mess like Hurican Katrina, or the impending Bird Flu pandemic in Chicago.

The hand-jobs from FEMA, and all the Federal LEOs will think they're in charge. Then the Army will be here in violation of existing federal law.

Remember no police officers swore an oath to defend and protect MARSHALL LAW.

Keep lots of extra ammunition around.

Um, it's Martial Law. Law by the Military.

Marshall law is Law by Matt Dillon.

I always wanted to be a Marshall, in the Old West sense; like Wyatt Earp.

You wouldn't have to defend & protect "MARSHALL" law because you would be subject to it. The military would take control of the normal administration of law enforcement to include the court system. The federal law you're referring to is the Posse Comitatus Act that limits the use of Federal troops in law enforcement. It goes back to reconstruction in the old South. I'm not going to explain the shit here, but look it up before you start babbling incoherently. You got this far on a computer. And look out for those hurricanes, I hope you have insurance. Ha! Ha!

Maybe we need the Feds to run the department, what with the rampant corruption being bitched about.

Joe was my friend and one time partner. He was a true policeman, he was a true Man. What the fed's did was a crime! I know that CPD would not have let a fellow officer lie in anguish. Whatever policticians decided was the course of action was obviously wrong. Please, do not use this blog to disparage a good Man's name. Joe was the type of guy that would give his last dollar to you, he was and is a good Man. If only more individuals in this department had the same character then we would have a better department. I know that many uninformed officers are about to list opinions that they have no knowledge about. All I ask is please, do not disparage one of the finest people I have ever been priveledged to know.

From what I know, Sgt. Hector Silva(rest in peace) was about to take 2 SORT/HBT cars in to grab Airhart under a cover of fire (if needed) but was ordered to stand down by FBI, he disregarded but was then told to follow that order by the Street Dep. or face the consequenses. If anyone has anything to add please do.
