Quick Hits Weekend Edition

Don't worry, we'll be posting here and there over the weekend, but here's some stuff we saw today.
  • As noted in a comments section, another embarrassment to the Department. Who has any background on this goof? Sounds like a 5 year wonderchild.
  • Fran Spielman does a fluff cover job on Bob Sirott's fluff TV piece of a retrospective of scandal ridden 2005. Mutual media masturbation!
  • Now the debate begins about Midway runways. Four possible outcomes that we see: (A) some new sort of barrier system to prevent runway overruns; (B) tear down everything within 1,000 yards of Midway and expand the runway buffers; (C) shut down Midway and give Jesse Jr. his Peotone disaster; (D) absolutely nothing. Bet on D.
  • Cop TASERs partner over stopping for a soda. She did grab the steering wheel, so we'd call it a justified zapping. We're not sympathetic to people turning moving automobiles into uncontrolled missiles.
  • Four coppers help evacuate 30 people from a burning building. Good job people.

Two asshole coppers in the same car. For the situation to get that out of hand where they're fighting over the steering wheel and one zaps the other.....they're both assholes!!

The police department released a statement saying Pecora's arrest "does not reflect on the work of the 15,000 police officers who do a good job every day, protecting and serving the public." Police spokesman Monique Bond said Pecora had been relieved of police duties and placed on no-pay status.

How dare the PO's who qualify in A/5 range assume they can clean their guns after they shoot. The balls of these guys, I mean, why would you want to clean your gun there when you could clean your gun back in your house! The nice aeromic smell of gun cleaner in your living room is great for the holidays. The usual shit coming from the range guys, telling PO's they cant clean their guns in the "GUN CLEANING ROOM", then why the FUCK is the room there? These guys continue to treat the PO's who shoot there like scum, worried they wont clean up. The way they reacted is if you asked the range person if you could clean your gun back at their house in their bed! They are too worried about "cleaning up our mess". I have an idea, check the room and tell the PO's to make sure clean up! These guys act as if its their personal range. They yell if you use a broom to clean up the brass, "you will get lead poisoning", my bad, I suppose its better to use your suggestion and clean it up with my bare hands, thats much safer. Seriously, lead poisoning, you dont wear a mask when you shoot and the powder goes all over the place. I used to thing you needed a phone call to work in the range, now I think all you need is to be a total asshole to your felow officers!

I concur completely. Take two hits and call me in the morning. You honor, my patient has a stomach ailment- he is a cow and has a multi-chambered stomach. Hence he must chew copious amounts of grass into cud to avoid embarrassing problems with flatulence. My patient would never use any substance for any illicit purpose/profit. That 50 pound hemp hay bale was merely a office sample- that's why I failed to write a prescription. Your honor my patient has always been an upstanding officer- and gives two gallons of delicious milk a day.

Good thing Pecora didn't draw attention to himself or anything:

He drove a black Hummer to work.

He has put on about 50 pounds of solid muscle in the last 2 years.

He always bragged about his various $20,000 watches.

He spent everynight at work hanging out in the nightclubs, being treated like royalty by the bar managers and doormen.

Piece of shit, wannabe Wiseguy from Bridgeport.

I heard that he actually stole that 50 pounds of weed from the Elmwood Park mob and wouldn't pay the money back, which caused him to get noticed by DEA. Dumbfuck would have probably gotten away with it had he not thought that he could do whatever he wanted because he was a cop.

I hear IAD has been following him all over creation for several months now. He's lucky they got him before the mobsters decided to call in the debt. Heard there is a steroid investigation going on within the Department concurrent to this investigation. Hope all you juicers took notice of this and clean up quick...You know this shitbag is rolling on all of you right now, right?

yeah those guys area 5 range think they wear chevrons on their sleeves. The bald guy is always telling war stories and since i've been on the job 14yrs. he has been in the range department. I think i've heard his stories 3 times over. The tall nerd who thinks he's a drill instructor barking out orders has 6 or 7 yrs. on the job. Did his training stint in 011 and has been in the range the rest of the time,he is another guy who thinks he's the shit because he trained in 011 but forgets he's nothing but a range bitch. To top it off he was a emt on a private ambulance before comming on the job. Just one of those few guys who think because they have a badge and a gun now they think they are tough shit. These guys really need to be checked.

I don't know who the guys in A/5 are but there was a youger guy named Dan ( not using his last name out of respect ) at A/3 this last summer that was a great guy. One of the few times I remember being treated like an adult on this job by a ranger person, or any other "training" type officer.

I am curious. There are nothing but bad posts from people who say 025 is shit, 016 is filled with dogs,015 is a wasteland. Where is the great place to work ? OO wise one who knows all and bashes everyone where is the best place to work ?

It is a shame that there is nothing but bashing going on here. I have been an FTO in 025 for 13 years and there are alot of good, hard working police officers that are there. 025 is filled with alot of good people who when the shit hits the fan are there to help you both mentally and financially. When my mother died we needed a revolving door at the funeral home to keep up with the flow of my co workers who were coming in to pay their respects to a woman most did not even know. And when I was involved in a shooting my phone rang for two days straight with over 300 calls.

You can sit there and say what you want about 025 but I will tell you from being there quite some time, 025 is filled with alot of quality people who are always there when you need them.

and if you dont believe me, transfer in and come work with us.

I sincerely wish all a happy holiday season and the best to you and your families.

The range in A/5 has no cleaning supplies anyway, everyone brings their own supplies, the shit they have their is a joke, so old I think its for cleaning muskits. Besides the cleaning nonsense in A/5, try to ask them about qualifying, holy shit, "WHAT.....YOU WANT TO SHOOT YOUR GUN????? HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, YOU HAVE TO GO TO A/3 FOR THAT", if you want to shoot in A/5, you have to schedule it 12-32 weeks in advance, remember the secret password, bring your own ammo, paper target, power supply, private range master, eyes, ears, oxygen, cleaning supplies, and guess the magic number they are holding, only 1-9, they cant count as high as 10, from behind there back. Meeting all of these requirements, then, and only then, will they tell you.........were booked,,,, go to A/3. Upon your arrival to A/3, "WHATS UP, GRAB A TARGET, GO OUT ON THE RANGE". NICE SHOOTING, BE SAFE OUT THERE"!

I don't know what you people are talking about concerning Area5 range. I go there on the day shift, there are two young guys, no BS, no war stories, quick, effecient, fair. They let me clean my gun, I just had to have my own stuff. HEll, they offered me coffee. This last week they were swamped and they still let people practice, they did a couple of guys 45s, even though they were doing regular qualifications. The tall guy stripped down some detectives revolver, cleaned it and the guy finished shooting, before that the gun didn't even work.I was there for about an hour, doing practice shooting between qualification lines, these two guys never stopped. If this is a "spot" I stay in patrol thank you, it's way less work. The coppers are unbelievable, there are signs all over telling them to leave their guns in the holsters, the poor range guys get more guns pointed at them than any ghetto cop. If I were them I'd wear a vest. All I know is I practice at A5 with the day guys on a regular basis and they are great.

Jags - to whom are they jags? To stupid people like you that don't know how to handle your weapon safely. To stupid poeple like you that want them to bend over backwards so that you can pass qualification. To stupid people like you that walk in like your the King and expect all to bow to your every whim. To stupid people like you that expect them to fix your weapon. Should I go on? Please, people, just because you do not get along with a particular individual does not mean that that person is not doing their job. Just because an officer doesn't bend over backwards and kiss your ass when you want it, does not mean that they are JAGS!
Your the Jag for expecting someone to kiss your ass.

The above poster is right. In 16 yrs I never expected a play from the range guys. If you followed their instructions there was no problem. we have so few benchmarks( Sorry cant think of a better word) that if you can not shoot you weapon within state rules ten I do no want you backing me me up.

12/11/2005 12:57:00 AM

Bend over backwords? I just want to shoot! The guys especially on afternoons in A/5 think its their peronal range. I maintain my weapon, pass with flying colors, they are still jags! I dont go in there expecting anything from them, just to shoot my weapon and leave, they are assholes! PERIOD! I have never, not once, seen any PO disrespect or argue with the range in A/5, its always the range guys setting the tone, WHAT DO YOU WANT?...COME BACK LATER.....NOT TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Bow down to every whim or help pass, please! You sign in, load your weapon, go on the range, and shoot! When the range in A/5 starts to treat the PO's with respect, they in turn will be treated with respect. They treat everyone as if they are PPO's. They get swamped and dont want to be bothered with the PO's who ask them question and who want to shoot or clean their guns...FUCK them, go work somewhere else so you dont have to be bothered. Why would a PO expect a range guy to kiss their ass? This is exactly what people are talking about,,, the balls on these range guys in A/5, they set the tone by treating people like snot! When in doubt, shoot at A/3 with courteous and professional range personnel.

It's about time somebody set the record straight here regarding 025. I've been there for about 5 years after having been in several other places and I can say without hesitiation that the vast majority of coppers there are top notch. I consider myself fortunate to have been assigned there and to be able to work with some of these guys and gals. There are some dogs/ goofs but no more than in any other unit. I am constantly impressed with the work that they do and the quality of arrests that they come in with, particularly the guys on 1st watch. The problems in this District are not with the individual Officers, the problems are elsewhere as in managment, supervision etc., and it filters down to the patrolman. As far as broken toilets go, keep in mind that this place has a district manager that refuses to do anything except CREATE problems and as a result when things break down, IF they get fixed, it usually takes a long time to get repaired. Sad to say, but since Mc Cotter left, this place has taken a steady nosedive down and I do not see it getting any better.
We do have our fairshare of snotnosed kids who THINK they are the real deal but so does every other district. They will come around one day and see the light.

I think they reason they treat people like ppos is because of the things coppers do with their guns, like take them out when not on the range, start loading unloading, dry-firing, not heeding instruction about weapon safety, telling the range guys they know all about guns etc.. i've seen it, it's scary..........

The A/5 range guys on afternoons are professional. It's some of the "clientele" who lack professionalism. You are treated with respect if you are respectful. Re: cleaning your gun - - until the City does something about the ventilation system, it is a safety consideration. And, it's true, the range guys have more guns pointed at them on an average week than any other officer has pointed at them over the span of their entire career! Think about that.

Sounds to me like someone can't shoot, has thin skin, & doesn't know what the hell they are talking about. Get over yourself. The A5 3rd watch range guys let you practice if workload allows. However, qualifications have to come first! It's sad that the City doesn't place more emphasis on shooting - only requiring an ANNUAL qualification! I know alot of guys who can hardly hit the side of a bus.
