Lighten up, Hitney! If you and your apologists continue to bitch about your poor judgment, you will hereinafter be renamed "Sgt. MUD".

The best way to "regain your honor" is to hit the streets as a sector sergeant in 007 or 011.

Then again, you could remain a prima donna in some empty-holster, paper shuffling, house mouse capacity while many snicker behind your back, if not to your face.

Prove them wrong, Ms. Hitney.

A real gun bust

Members of the gun-busting team yesterday show one of weapons bought by undercover cops from gun-runners. From left: Lt. Dave Siev, Detective Gregory Jean-Baptiste, Capt. Raymond Dewitt and Detective Enrics Viola. Cops yesterday dismantled a massive interstate gun-running ring — aided by eagle-eyed detectives who spotted one suspect stashing his arsenal of weapons in a Porta-Potty.
Undercover detectives in "Operation Tripod" posed as gun buyers and were able to purchase a total of 116 guns over the course of a year, Commissioner Ray Kelly announced yesterday.

He said the black-market buys cost cops $118,000, twice the retail value of the assorted firearms.

The sting netted five men and one woman: two from New York and four from Ohio. A seventh man is still on the run.

Daniel Awuku, 34, of Brooklyn and Yusef Logan, 31, of Queens were collared. The out-of-towners under arrest are alleged ringleader Douglas Wellington, 25, Amire Smith, 23, Achsah Washington, 21, and Matthew Brown, 19.

Cops are looking for a third New Yorker: Marvin Mrythil, 26, of Queens.

A search of Mrythil's house turned up an additional 9mm handgun and 200 small bags of marijuana, Kelly said.

The guns would be illegally bought from the Ohioans and then resold in the city, authorities said.

Kelly said 72 percent of guns used in all crimes in New York City originate from out of state but added, "It's rare to apprehend the out-of-town supplier here."

Wellington and his associates made the 500-mile trip periodically to sell guns in Brooklyn and Queens, according to Kelly.

Most of the guns illegally sold to undercover cops came from stores in Ohio and Maine. Kelly said that yesterday morning, undercover detectives bought 17 handguns, and all of them were new and still in their boxes. The cache included 10 .9mms, four .40-calibers, two .45-calibers and a .380-caliber pistol.

The group was busted in Queens on Farmers Boulevard and North Conduit Boulevard at about 5 a.m., the NYPD said.

If not for savvy detectives staking out the scene before the sale, the guns may not have even been found.

Undercover cops noticed Brown arrive near the scene early and place two large boxes — with the 17 guns inside — in a Porta-Potty at a construction site before going to meet for the exchange. The guns were later recovered.

"A less-experienced team of detectives might have missed that ploy," Kelly said.

The involved cops were from the NYPD's Firearms Investigation Unit, which lost two members in 2003.

Detectives James Nemorin and Rodney Andrews were killed March 10, 2003, in a botched buy-and-bust.

In a separate investigation, the NYPD's Gangs Division seized 23 guns from members of the Crips gang on Pennsylvania Avenue in Brooklyn last week, Kelly announced.

Not including today's guns, he said 430 illegal guns have been taken off the streets of New York since the beginning of the year.

If you investigate suspicious people in the neighborhood you get a racial beef and if you dont you open up the beat to a new set of criminals. You can not win. You can expect this from the average barstool jockey on 111th but you shouldnt have to hear it from other coppers. After all they can make a bid and show you how its done.

I'm really tired of people defaming Dorelle Brandon. I knew her well and we worked tact together. I was with her a half hour before she went on that disasterous buy/bust. The other people there included Danny Lukensmeyer and his partner, and Clarence Keith, Dorelle's partner and her childhood friend. Dorelle went into the house to make the buy with the informant and when the informant lost her nerve she id'd Dorelle as the police, that was when the drug dealer grabbed and threatened to kill her by holding a gun to her head. The other p.o's could get to her because the offender had locked the burglar bars when she entered the house. As Dorelle struggled with the offender for his weapon, Keith tried to shoot him and struck Dorelle inadvertently.

This was in 1984, and for a long time thereafter and obviously, even today, people would us believe that it was something other than what it was, an unfortunate buy/bust that went bad and resulted in the death of a wonderful woman, a wife and mother, and a highly decorated female police officer. I stress the female because with only 8 years on the job, she had 3 dept commendations and was one of the first women allowed to work tact.

Before you continue believing all of the lies you've heard about this incident, look at the fact that Dorelle was given an honors funeral, no disciplinary action was ever taken against anyone involved, Luke's partner retired honorably a few years ago, Luke served with distinction until he "retired" over his own incident, and Keith is now a detective after several years of teaching in the Academy. I don't think Keith has ever really gotten over accidentally killing his friend. These were good officers and its outrageous the continuing damage that has been done to their reputations.

Please let us honor our dead in a manner befitting their sacrifice.

True story....she has been much more reserved since the plane incident however....don't even know she is in class most of the time....except if a boss comes by then she's all over them hugs etc....really disgusting...Chris we know you are a suck ass just don't be so blatant about it ok...a simple "Hi" would suffice the hugging has got to go in public....ok?

Hitney's dilema is that she is just typical of what gets promoted, but she got caught through her stupidity by a photograph. I sort of feel sorry for her since all the rest of the useless people (those who never did any police work) who get promoted or do 30 years on this job without ever lifting a finger get a free pass. That picture was funny as hell though. Lets get some pictures of some of the other jackass's on the job. How about one of Phil Cline trying to catch someone.

If they started promoting people based on competency this job would be a lot more demanding. Maybe someday Hitney can be your watch commander (I'm sure she's going to move up farther than Sgt) and you can convince everyone how your the best person for the job. I know I think you are. You are the most pitiful of people that you want to believe the conspiracy theorists and those who insult the memory of a dead officer by spreading lies about her. If you believe the lie that the officers involved were trying to ripe off the dope dealer then you can't possibly think that Luke was a great officer until his craziness caught up with him. If you think Keith was/is a bumbling idiot, you must know that Luke would never have trusted him to keep quiet if they intended to rob the dope dealer. The whole drug conspiracy was too convoluted and had too many holes in it to make sense to anyone who knew the people involved and to anyone with any street time. Obviously, since you're afraid to come out of the closet, you're just trying to start shit. Since the only people at the scene of the Brandon shooting were Brandon, Keith, Lukensmeyer, his partner (I forget his name), the CI and the dealer, I think you have made my point with your comment about Luke. There is no way that Luke would have engaged in any conspiracy with either Brandon or Keith (regardless of what he might do on his own), and therefore there's no chance in hell that this shooting was anything more than a buy/bust that went bad. BTW, my recollection is that Luke was actually fond of Brandon and she was the only female he would work with on any kind of regular basis. Go push your slander somewhere else.
