International Appeal

Seems we have friends across the pond. We are actually linked at a site called "The Policeman's Blog" based in the United Kingdom. It seems to be a regular coppers blog from England, with a lot of the same gripes we have and a few different ones (like massive muslim protests about some cartoons).

Nice to see international folks visiting and linking. Makes the whole police fraternity a little more real. And it was especially nice to see in the comments section about that police officer from Germany taking time out of his vacation to attend the funeral of Eric Solorio. Someone be sure to buy that gentleman a shitload of beer, even if weak American brew can't even get him toasty. A heartfelt "Thanks" to our German brethren.

They have some interesting stuff. It seems that they like guns in their gun-free society too! They have even bigger problems than our Mayor in that regard.

crimefile:

maybe you should climb out of your hole...

germany has an extremely low crime rate...

but i guess that would not serve you any good...

less crime = fewer defendants.

YOU ARE A SELL OUT.

Flash! or not.

As you should already do anyway, check your paychecks. Since the change over, the city has neglected to give officers their step-raises.

So if you were entitled to a step raise recently, check your paystubs to see if and when the raise kicked in; you may be entitled to some back pay.

Mine is already 3 paychecks late.

Why don't you just shut the fuck up, you anonymous coward.

While I may often disagree with Huebl ("crimefile"), neither of us hide behind the cloak of anonymity like you do.

It's insecure assholes like you that get your freak on by anonymously ragging on others. If you have any legitimate criticism and any sense of self-esteem, you would contact Huebl directly via eMail. Then again, craven pieces of shit like you have no cojones.

(Don't hold your breath, Paul.)

I agree. Anybody who was a friend of Pat Crowley is a friend of mine. I remember those dark days in the 70's. It was open season on coppers, much worse in my opinion than it is now. I remember a friend of mine telling me about an incident on the southside in which a copper was shot as he sat in his car. They towed the car into the District where it sat for days. And dripped the patrolmans blood for days until they finally got it out of there. And what about the two tac guys from,IIRC, 005 who were heard on tape being chased around their squad car by the bad guy who eventually killed them because their semi-automatic pistols jammed? Forgive me but I forget their names at the moment. I was not on the job back then but I remember them well. It is because of those heroes that I decided to become a Chicago Police Officer. My only regret is that I couldn't have been there with them.

I worked with Kenny Kaner in 011 before he was transferred to 007. In 1970, he was murdered on midnights by a shotgun blast at 74th St. & Union Ave. while he was alone writing a report. They towed the squad to Englewood garage where it sat for days, the front seat full of gore.

A copper, first-named "Carl" and his partners caught the murderers only three blocks away. Great pinch!

The double which you refer to was the murders of Bill Bosak and Roger Van Schaik in 005 in 1979.

May Kaner, Bosak and Van Schaik rest in peace. God bless all of our fallen heroes.

Your right, Northside, that was them, Bosak and Van Schaik. That tape was chilling to listen to. If IIRC, one of them had a BHP which jammed and the other ran out of bullets for his revolver. Maybe you can verify.

The friend that told me the story about Kaner said that that was the only time he really thought about quitting the job.

I was assigned to the old DDA-3 (3900 S. California Ave.) when Kenny Kaner was killed. I remember it all too well. I saw the squad car the next day at Englewood garage. I still can't believe that the moron bosses left that blood-soaked squad car in the garage for all the troops to view.

Under the behind-the scenes leadership of a 7th Dist. Sgt. (John w/Italian surname), the first watch refused to hit the streets unless all cars were 10-4 units. It resulted in no 10-99 units during the hours of darkness.

I don't remember all the details of the Bosak-Van Schaik homicides.
I wasn't there. As I recall, the lone shooter was an Area 2 Homicide arrest.

Kenneth Allen (M/1) was convicted of the murders of 5th Dist. Tactical Unit Officers Bosak and Van Schaik and sentenced to death.

However, then Illinois Gov. George Ryan later commuted Allen's sentence to life imprisonment.

Another reason I hate that cocksucker. I hope when he's convicted he can get a cell with Kenneth Allen.

That would be poetic justice, wouldn't it?

Rest assured that said cocksucker will not be traveling to Stockholm to accept the Nobel Prize for Peace.
