Another Word on Hampton Avenue
If Aldercreature Madeline Haithcock is so set on honoring people for the good work they do (and ignoring everything else about them), we've got a nomination for her. How about this little organization we located? Their founding charter begins as follows:
- First: To protect the weak, the innocent, and the defenseless from the indignities, wrongs and outrages of the lawless, the violent and the brutal; to relieve the injured and oppressed; to succor the suffering and unfortunate, and especially the widows and orphans of the [...] soldiers.
- Second: To protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
- Third: To aid and assist in the execution of all constitutional laws, and to protect the people from unlawful seizure, and from trial except by their peers in conformity with the laws of the land.
Sounds pretty straight forward, doesn't it? Who can be against protecting the weak, innocent and defenseless? Protect and defend the Constitution? Sounds like a typical loyalty oath, doesn't it? We all took a similar pledge when we became police officers.
Trouble is, this charter is the opening Prescript of the Klan. So under aldercreature Haithcock's "rules" for nomination, we ought to have a "KKK Way" or a "Nathan Bedford Forrest Avenue" or any other dozens of permutations of some truly heinous persons and organizations (i.e. nazi's, mafia, etc.) because they "did some good works."
Now we realize that tossing this up on the blog is going to light up the comments section. We're sure we're going to be deleting a bunch of crap over the next few hours. And if it gets too hairy, we'll shut down the thread. We'll just close out with our regular admonition that the public reads this board, bosses read this board, reporters read this board, and we'll bet someone can direct even aldercreatures to read this board. We can't prove ANYONE on here is a Chicago cop (aside from ourselves) so take everything you see here with the appropriate grains of salt.

I agree with previous post. Lets start picketing that cockroach's office. I also think that scc should come up with a list of canidates that REALLY support the police. Not just the ones that say they will, but when issues like this come up hide and don't take a stand. We need them to be vocal and support us. WE ARE NOT WRONG WITH THIS ISSUE. There's no way in hell that shitbag should get a street named after him. Let's not lay down on this. Constant pressure. and where are all these candidates that FOP gives us a list of to support and vote for during election years. I haven't heard one single one of them stand up for us. Let's get a list going of real police supporters, not just political lakees that grease the palms/asses of the FOP.

I'm absolutely sick of our city and this race card excuse. Because this is what it's all about. In addition, the lack of LEADERSHIP in Chicago. Nobody wants to take a stand here. Because when the heat is on, they go running like cockroaches, instead of standing for what they believe in.
About two weeks ago, I emailed City Hall asking about Midway Airport. The response I get is an article in the newspaper about the Mayor supposedly considering privatizing it. You see, he gets rid of the spotlight on him and transfers the problem over to someone else. Same deal about the naming of the street sign. The papers reported that Mayor Daley evaded that one too, when his officers were killed in the line of duty because of the Black Panthers. Isn't the Mayor the same one on the CPD Memorial website stating how much this memorial and our officers mean to him?
In addition, I emailed my Alderman in Ward 13, Frank Olivio. No response from him.
I actually feel for each and one of you after I worked a temp. job with the city.
One of the people who was with my boss in training could not even navigate on the computer when my boss was out of the room. I had to help her.
Then one of the auditors who vocally slammed people he didn't like, also "lost" tax returns from businesses that had a particular persons initials on it. When I started noticing this, I went to the second person in charge, because my boss was not around. I was actually told that the same thing happened to them.
The worst part is hearing from business owners who get treated like CRAP from city workers in various departments. Blatant rudeness, people slamming the phone on them, not to mention the complete inefficiency of the city.
Instead of having meetings about renaming streets to honor people who want to off cops, how about the city spending time on reorganizing the city departments, hiring/training people that actually are professionals and will represent the city, and spending time actually improving their ward(s).
The whole moral of this story is the fact that people need to lead here and put their foot down instead of running for cover when a "touchy" subject is brought up.
Last, the very people in positions of leadership need to recognize those who postively benefited our community.

I got an idea!!! How bout a city wide work shortage if they approve that street designation. I'm so dead serious on this. I have a whole watch in a district right now that is in total support of this, and will go into effect if that street name passes. Let's get this going city wide.
