Ryan Trial Grinding On

  • Former Gov. George Ryan's jury completed its first four-day week of weighing the evidence at his racketeering and fraud trial Thursday and went home amid indications they may be having a tough time understanding the thick batch of instructions they were given.
And we're sure it is exactly what Dan Webb was counting on. If you bury a jury in enough BS, they're going to get confused, bored and eventually, simply eager for the whole thing to be over. We've read the Channel 7 report and even if most of the facts about the jury notes are accurate, this jury is extremely confused and that is NEVER of good thing in a Federal trial, especially one that relies on a lot of detail.

Here's what they should be concentrating on - (1) how the heck did Ryan survive on less than $700 dollars over so many years and (2) where was he getting the cash? Once they can agree that something illegal was going on, then they can fill in the other counts of influence peddling and racketeering, which is where the government accountants can really do their damage. Hopefully, our 01 January prediction comes true and Ryan is found guilty and will rot in prison. But right now, it's a coin toss.

I predict Ryan will be convicted of some, but not all the counts against him. We'll see.

Remember, a lot of good guy's get hurt, or worse, before the bad guys finally get theirs. Willie Lloyd, Angelo Roberts, Gacy, Bundy, etc. are testament to that. Good ultimately prevails, albeit never quick enough for us.

If he walks maybe he'll get abducted and juiced by Wilphonse one night. I want to see him locked-up with a some westside weight-lifter that has a big bottle of vitamin E in his cell, however, I'd be happy to here he has a terminal disease.

I'm no fan of Ryan, but don't forget he was making $150,000 yr as the gov...he lived in house for nothing, ate for nothing, had a car for nothing...he should of had plenty cash just from his salary!!!

Right malcolm. And super rich people like Jesse "King of Beers" Jackson and Degnan and Teale and Tomczak and (nationally) Kennedy and Kerry can hold their heads up and spout off about how they looked out for the poor and downtrodden.

Don't you ever get tired of smelling your own ass as your head always seems up it?

I'm still trying to get over the fact that in one year he only withdrew/wrote 1 check for less than $100. Hell, I can't get through a week without taking out at least $200.
