More Aldermanic Stupidity
- A Chicago alderman wants police superintendent Phil Cline to step down following the shooting of another young girl on the South Side ‚Â the third in less than two months. Two other girls died. The latest victim is in the hospital. The 11-year-old girl was shot in the stomach in front of a home in Roseland in the 114th block of South Prairie. Ninth ward alderman Anthony Beale says superintendent Cline has shown "ineffective leadership" following a rash of recent drive by shootings ... and he should resign.
Now, we've taken the brass of this Department to task on a number of issues, the largest of which STILL hasn't been addressed (Hampton Avenue). Aldercreaturee Beale must be trying for the title of "Stupidest Aldercreature of the Year." We didn't realize the title was up for grabs again (they were so close to renaming it "the Dorothy" for 12 time award winner Tillman) but someone must arise to challenge "the Hat." A few points:
- We can't confirm it 100%, but Cline doesn't appear to have been anywhere near 114th and Prairie. How Beale holds Cline responsible is beyond us.
- Despite Cline's past few New Year's Eves, we haven't seen the boss out there doing traffic stops and pulling guns out of cars.
- We stated this before, but any aldercreature who thinks the Superintendent actually wields any REAL power is probably smoking crack.
- Lack of Leadership? LACK of leadership? Ok alder-asshat. Why aren't you out there screaming for Daley's head? You want to see the primary emasculator of the entire leadership of the Chicago Police Department (not to mention every city department)? We don't have very many leaders anymore - we have managers - and BAD MIDDLE managers at that. You are a part of the most BALL-LESS City Council in recorded history. Why aren't you out there berating your constituency for resorting to firearms in populated neighborhoods to establish narcotics territory? Oh yeah! You have to get them to VOTE for you, so you find a convenient target and unload. How political of you.

I'm not sure that Beale is entirely wrong. Cline is responsible for the fact that 005 has very few P.O>'s available to work beat car and next to none for rapids. He's been too busy stripping the Districts to stock SOS, TRU, midnight gang teams, gun teams, etc, etc. etc. This may have something to do with why there seem to be som many neighborhood shootings. I been on the job long enuf to remember when there were very few drivebys and almost no kids being killed just in case you wonder. At least in the 70's and 80's, you could fill most of the beat cars and there were more beats to be manned. Like I said, Beale may not know the source of his angst but he may have a point. Its certainly one that most of your readers have complained about. Go Figure~~~

72-year-old among suspects
The investigation -- called "Operation 26th Street" -- ended this month. Charges against the 38 include weapons violations, criminal drug conspiracy and possession and delivery of drugs.
Among the group is a 72-year-old man, who was selling drugs as a Two-Sixer, and Camilo Alvarez, 29, who was considered an "Inca,'' or leader of the Latin King gang, investigators said. Alvarez has an arrest record that includes five felonies, police said.
The Latin Kings, now a national organization, started in Chicago and still have sets all over the city dealing cocaine and marijuana. They are believed to supply other street gangs throughout the city.
The Two Six gang has been in Little Village since the 1970s.

Ald. George Cardenas (12th) said the dispute has already spilled over from Little Village to other Hispanic neighborhoods, including Brighton Park and Back of the Yards, where there are large populations of Mexican immigrants.
"Usually [residents] are quiet; they keep to themselves," Cardenas said. "This is what these guys prey upon in these communities. That's how they're able to operate -- because not a lot of people come forward and talk about it."
Ald. Ricardo Munoz (22nd) said area residents had been asking for help. "Little Village is a neighborhood of working-class residents -- new homeowners, long-term homeowners, 'mas,' 'pas,' uncles and aunts, who all want the same thing,'' said Munoz. "A school that educates, a neighborhood that's safe, and a job that pays well. The work done today helps put that dream back on the map.'

Different charges for juveniles
McKenney, Little and two juveniles -- both 16 -- were all initially charged with misdemeanor battery.
But the juvenile charges were later upgraded to felony aggravated battery.
When asked to explain why the juveniles and adults face different charges, Marcy Jensen -- a spokeswoman with the Cook County state's attorney's office -- said there's a "different process" for reviewing adult and juvenile charges.
David Kelley, an assistant state's attorney who handles Juvenile Court cases, said the decision was made to formally file felony charges against the juveniles because of the seriousness of the injuries to the victim and the fact that the crime was committed on public property.

That one is still in civil litigation. Demanded to be put in for merit Detective, even though he is another 125 out on the list. When assigned to Narcotics Unit would drive around off-duty in his company car and make arrests for dope. Wow what a dedicated "whack job!" Had himself put in for a ribbon for having the most arrest in 024th District. The most arrest!!, this "prick" would drive around with his ultra top-secret juvenile warrant list and knock on the door for "junior". No foot chases, no street level crime, no UUW, just his secret warrant list. For the last Detective Exam, he took (11) days off work to study prior to the exam and missed by (1) spot. Thats fucking beautiful. He back stabbed a copper who ran the security gig at Waveland Bowl, convinced the owner he would be better at the job and then fired the copper who got him the job there in the first place. A side note to that is that this guy (now a Det) is in Iraq,and the 8th day "in-country" and I.E.D. explodes next to his Hummer convoy. (2) guys KIA, and he takes shrapnel in legs and 3rd degree burns. Didnt bitch and moan like M.L. went right back and is still there. A 26-year-old rookie Chicago Police officer has been fired for allegedly shooting at her estranged husband in his Southwest Side home.
Alicia Roman-Gomez is charged with aggravated assault and criminal damage to property, both misdemeanors. She is accused of firing at Carlos Gomez Jr., 28, on April 10 in the 4200 block of West 82nd. He was not struck.
Police Supt. Phil Cline signed off on Roman-Gomez's firing this week, said Monique Bond, a police spokeswoman.
Roman-Gomez was arrested April 11. She was released after posting 10 percent of a $3,000 bond. Her husband has obtained an emergency order of protection against her, and he is seeking a divorce.
Roman-Gomez was assigned to the Englewood District. Her husband said they were separated and she was living with her parents on the South Side. Early on April 10, she showed up at Gomez's house and they started arguing about their crumbling marriage, he said.
'Shots were in my direction'
Roman-Gomez, who joined the department in October 2004, was off duty but wearing her police uniform, her estranged husband said. She was crying when she pulled a gun out of a holster and started firing at him, he said.
"The shots were in my direction," he said. "I ducked for cover. Had I been standing up, they would have been upper chest and head shots."
Gomez said his wife fired at least seven shots, striking at least four walls. The charges against Roman-Gomez said the damage to the property did not exceed $300, but he disputes that.
"I'm going to have to do a lot of repairs," he said. "At least I'm still alive."
Roman-Gomez's father is a police officer and she comes from a family of cops, her estranged husband said. She originally wanted to become a teacher, but her family persuaded her to take a police job, Gomez said.
Roman-Gomez did not return a phone call seeking comment.

THE TROUBLE WITH ALDERMEN
I think at least half of the 50 Aldermen were appointed by Richie. If one wants to retire or is indicted, he leaves before his/her term is up and Richie appoints the successor. The appointed alderman, now an incumbent, is then totally dedicated to da mayor, not just for the appointment but because Richie holds the jobs, their benefits, the city work done in their ward, and most important, the campaign cash.
So now you have this counsel of sycophants who will do anything for the man on the fifth floor. Including selling out city employees right down to their own mothers.
Most, of these alderman run unopposed in elections, very few if any can be counted on to oppose the mayor when the opportunity to screw with us come up. They will say very little publicly and kiss Daley’s ass with their vote. No bad how it is for the city employees.
Maybe, we should see that no alderman runs unopposed. If a crew of volunteers descended on every ward and gathered enough signatures they could get the name of a retired cop or fireman or other city worker on the ballot.
Then the alderman would have to work to try to get the city employee vote. Then they would fear us. Even if there was no chance of winning the opposing candidate could shout at the media what is wrong with Daley, the department and the way this city is being bankrupted. They would start people thinking, and Daley would not want that. If people started thinking and acting, Daley would FEAR US.

To get in an "on duty", non-domestic shooting you usuallly must be doing police work! Very few shootings occour in review, the ivory tower, on a desk run or doing a paper job. That rules a good 95% of women on the job.
About 7-8 years ago, a female copper from 017, now a sergeant, and wife of a detective, mother of 3 kids, monitored information on a vehicle chase of a gunman from 025.
The offender crashed outside a auto dealership on Irving Park Road near Larimie and tried to shoot his way out.
She got him and it was a damn good shooting. The story is used in training sessions for supervisors as an example of a good shooting and of a good pursuit.

Regarding the shooting at Irving Park and Laramie. Male officer shot twice. Female officer shot twice. Offender was shot three times.
Female officer dropped her second round down into tire when a copper jumped into the front seat into line of fire.
All three officers are good cops.
Female Officer isn't a Sgt however.
Department refused Medal of Valor for the two coppers who shot gave them a crappy commendation instead, same commendation ceremony two coppers from south side got a commendation for a garage burglar.
Guess they(coppers involved in shooting) weren't politically or departmentally connected.

About the irving Park shooting...my bad about her becoming a sergeant. The last time I saw her she was involved in a training program I thought she got promoted. I had been away from that district over 5 years. Shooting or not, if she got a meritorious promotion, I wouldn't have a problem with it.
