- Channel 5: Less than a day after former Gov. George Ryan was found guilty of several corruption charges, questions have arisen over whether the jury forewoman withheld information on her questionnaire. Grounds for an appeal? Maybe, but we think not. If it was a State trial, maybe. Federal judges are smarter and less connected to local issues. Judge Pallmeyer seems to have done a good job here.
- Channel 7: The Chicago Police Department is teaming up with church and business leaders to get guns off the street in a program that offers cash for weapons -- with no questions asked. Whoopee! The churches will get a bunch of outdated, rusty, non functional guns that probably would explode if fired and the people will get $100 debit cards they can sell for 50 bucks to purchase a nice shiny new gun.
- Channel 7 again: Officers from the 10th District are pitching in to help some young ladies become Cinderella for a night. They have collected about 40 prom dresses to give away to girls who might not be able to afford the dress of their dreams. WBBM called this their "feel good story" of the day.

Several male detectives from Area Four were given first shot at the prom dresses. Observed a few dicks attempting to wear the way too small dresses. Hardly a feel good story, but whatever turns you on.
Just a question, I'm curious.
If the Mayor is so worried about the Fed's looking into patronage scnadal's, then why would he hire Hubermann, a patronage lord himself, to watch over the internal dealing's?
Huberman is a graduate of U of C, but how do you go from Patrolman to deputy under a decade, and then chief of staff?
By this example, I don't think the Mayor's too worried.

Guns don't kill people asshole, people kill people. You could take every gun off the streets and people will still kill people. They'll just use knives, bats, cars, blowtorches, bombs, hand-to-hand combat or whatever the fuck is handy at the time. You cannot stop that.
This buy-back program has failed in every city it has happened in.
And the BEST part is these shitbirds can just hand over a gun, no questions asked. Here's an idea. Get a fucking fingerprint or an ID on these mutts. I want to see the results of forensic analysis on these guns that are turned in. How many are going to be linked to murders, and the CPD brass will be standing there looking dumb for not knowing who handed in the heater.
But to the Sheeple of Chicago who eat up this fodder with no practical knowledge of law enforcement, this is going to single-handedly let the people take back the streets.

If the Fed's were serious, really serious, about all this patronage b.s. they would have hit city hall with sealed search warrants all at once. Not bringing a person or two in for questioning, and then other's much later.

You're assuming that the Feds have any brains. The number #1 tool the feds have is the FEDERAL law that makes it a crime to lie to a federal agent. The feds don't need that much proof, they just need you to lie to them once! That is why Daley brought his lawyer right away.
