The Ryan Harris Case
The Sun Times and Channel 7 are reporting that a deal may have been cut with Floyd Durr to avoid the death penalty for the murder of Ryan Harris.
From what we know of the Ryan Harris case, this thing has been a political hot potato from the word go. Two kids were arrested and charged and then released after Floyd Durr was tied to the case by a semen sample. The city ended up paying out millions of dollars to the two kids for false arrest, but nothing was ever said about the investigation or investigators who ran this heater. There is a reason for this and we'll state it here:

- The Detectives got it right!
The media won't touch it and the Department won't say it aloud but the City screwed up by paying out. The reason this thing is probably never going to trial is that Durr might be guilty of something, but he wasn't the instigator. The ASA's can't afford to put the detectives on the stand because it will embarrass the City and Durr might get off on a technicality.
- The boys plotted and lured Harris to the scene to steal her bicycle.
- The boys caved in her head with a brick or stone and played with the unconscious victim in a sexual manner, inflicting provable harm.
- Durr came on the scene later, molested the unconscious girl and probably caused her death by stuffing her mouth with her own panties.
Talking to a number of people we know, there is a ton of information that no one ever revealed for one reason or another. Taxpayers are left holding the bag and the Department gets an undeserved black eye. Lovely system we have here - pay off some of the guilty parties and possibly make a deal with another to make a political issue go away.

Sorry SCC but you got this one wrong!!!! All you have to do is read the transcripts of the detective's testimony during the civil trial to know they fucked up royal - that's why the City settled this for as much as it did. Had this case gone to jury, it would have been a lot more. The lead detective's brother is a chief in the ASA's criminal prosecutions office and the det. is now retired so no department action. Haven't heard if any disciplinary action against second detective but no action doesn't mean that there shouldn't have been. As you know, City will often back officers who step into real shit inorder to protect its own butt!

These things happen because of the quality of our Dets. Hell, most of them can't solve anything. They look for the easy way out. Hmmm it looks all we could pass it off as a suicide, so they make it so.
Having gone over the signatures on the petitions, there are a few things that perhaps SCC could clarify for those yet to sign.
1. Signing a nickname, or a first name only, or anything that does not appear to be a complete and full name, gives no credence to your signature. If you don't wish to leave your full name (and perhaps an identifier like PO CPD), than your "signature" is worth zero, or perhaps less.
2. Seems like quite a few people signed twice. But this is Chicago after all.
That's ok, but I hear Bobby Rush is having a petition circulating.

Please take the time to sign your first and last name on the petition. Just like if someone knocked on your door and had you sign it. It's not rocket science. The more people that sign, the better as SEN RUSH is supposed to be coming out with a petition.

The family of Ryan Harris should sue to two boys for wrongful death. It was their actions (robbing her of her bicycle and hitting her with the brick) that set in motion a series of events that ultimately led to her death. The only real victim here is RYAN HARRIS and her family. Maybe if they sue for every penny the boys won it might be some type of justice

The Police always will lose these types of cases because of PUBLIC OPINION and the media bias!
Another example: U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) 6-term Congresswoman.
In summary..she is in D.C. and walks passed a security checkpoint in a Capitol office building, she is wearing neither her I.D or Lapel Pin Identifying her as a member of Congress. A Capitol Police Officer calls out to her 3 times, she ignores him and keeps walking. He runs after her and grabs her arm to probably get her attention, (AS ANY OF US WOULD DO IN A SIMILAR SITUATION), she turns and punches him.(known as acting ghetto)..this is not the type of behavior of someone in her position. But,she is a firebrand who has done stuff like this before and repeatedly gets away with it! (female, black, enough said)
In a nutshell, its all on video tape, and the U.S. Attorney is looking at charges against her.
After nearly a week of "no Comment" etc..She say's in essence that she was stopped because the Officer is racist and she hit him because he touched her inappropriately in a sexual manner!

If you knew anything at all about civil and criminal trial (which you obviously don't) the standards of proof are quite different. Criminal standard of proof is "beyond a reasonable doubt." Civil trial is "a proponderance of the evidence."
Case in point - OJ. Not Guilty criminally (though we have our doubts about "reasonable" California juries) but still on the hook for $33 million dollars to the Browns and Goldmans.
Don't read the civil trial transcript (if you actualy did, which we doubt). At trial, lawyers ask leading questions and leave out certain facts. Read the autopsy report if you can find it. Floyd Durr didn't hit Ryan Harris with a brick to steal her bicycle (which the boys confessed to doing AND had a record of doing); Floyd Durr didn't penetrate Ryan Harris with a stick (like the boys insisted they did AND left evidence of); Floyd Durr left semen on the panties stuffed in Ryan Harris' mouth AFTER he did his deed that choked her to death.
Read up on Floyd's record - all his rapes were in nearby abandoned buildings or basements, not in open court yards where Ryan Harris was located.
Had this case gone to a REAL jury, the city wouldn't be paying any money to Pincham, the other lawyer or their juvenile delinquent clients.

No one said they did.
