Why Would They Do This?
The Sun Times identifies the officer, which we have no idea why they would do that. They've just invited a world of shit down on him and his family. We're going to end up jailing and shooting a lot more latin eagles over this because of them. Of course, it's Frank Main, who doesn't have a brain in his empty head. From the article (which we won't link to):

The guy is a good copper. Nice how the suntimes devotes space to how much the shit bags were great family men and workers than they do to the numerous felony arrests they each had. At least they could have countered that with the number of awards and citations the officer had than just "seven years on the job". Nice job Monique Bond.

I think the lesson to be learned here among the others already mentioned is not to be working off-duty as a bouncer at a tavern. I even think it violates some dept. rule. OTOH maybe the p.o. was just a customer but if he was then he was drinking while armed, got into an altercation, was threatened with retailiation, failed to make a report of the incident, and remained at the tavern long enough for these mopes to come back and find him.
Nice guy, good cop, maybe, but boarding real close on premeditation. Think about it. . .
