Someone Fess Up Please

Cook County Board President John Stroger hasn't been seen since 02 March when he suffered a stroke and now the family home has been sold. Channel 2 reports Stroger's son (who has been pushing himself as a viable candidate for his dad's position) was completely unaware that the house was for sale. When questioned about Stroger's ability to continue to lead, Aldercreature William Beavers immediately cried "racism!"
  • "Mayor Daley, old man Daley, was sick for a year. They wouldn't even whisper about taking that job. It's disrespectful to talk about replacing John Stroger," Ald. William Beavers said. "It's always a double standard with black folks and white folks."
Maybe it's just wanting to know if someone can do the job anymore. Stroger had a good run, played his cards right, kept his mouth shut in the Machine, got to award friends and family hundreds of millions in no-bid contracts and set up his son in an Aldercreature spot.

Someone reading here has to know the truth - is Stroger done? Because if he ends up winning after not even being seen for 9 months, then THAT is pretty sad. Let's get our rumormill running here.

Bet my next paycheck that Stroger is basically just a shell of a man at this point.

To wit:
No Public appearances
No Photos of him sitting in bed eating, smiling etc
No photos of him at physical therapy

This is obviously a play by the County democratic/Daley Machine to maintain control of the county board.

Guess im the only one who is seeing this

Not that he was ever much more.

Remember D.C. Those idiots (my people, I'm sad to say), voted in a whore mongering, crackhead for another term as mayor. So, I guess the people of Chicago will vote in "The Invisible Man."

It will be just like the Star Trek episode where Capt Pike (he was the original Enterprise captain, but in what would later be known as a career ending move, Jeffrey Hunter turned down the lead when the show got picked up by NBC) was in that funky looking wheelchair and couldn't move or communicate.

I think someone (Kirk, maybe) was being court martialed and in flashbacks you learned what happened to some away team. Anyhow, in the end, Kirk sends Pike back to this planet, where the aliens gave him the illusion that he was still healthy.

The last scene you see is him walking into some cave with some blond hottie (who was also deformed due to being in a spaceship crash, but she too was living the life of illusion).

I guess that's what the Stroger camp wants us to think. John Stroger, thin, younger and healthy, walking into the County Building......

Of course Stroger is done (for health reasons); that is a no brainer; but, the Dems, particularly the black Chicago/ Cook County Dems, want to keep that position for themselves (I mean, they have it now, it should stay that way). Good and honest government is inconsequential, decent candidates of the highest integrity (who know no one, not the least of which are the Daleys or the Rotis) need not even consider applying....

What ever happened to being judged by your character? Now a days everything is about the color of one's skin or their political affiliations. Screw that shit! The politicians should only be concerned with the best interests of the people.

While I can't tell you on record the answer to your question, I will give you a hint:

I attended a meeting reciently with the mayor and the president-pro-temp of the cook county board. discussed was the leasing of millineum park to a consortium of investors from bridgeport, to be operated by a major amusement company. The company shall be free from city, county and state taxes for the first 10 years, but shall pay consulting fees to 5 members of the cook county board. The paperwork is being drafted as we speak by the peoples law office.
The park will be named "six flags over strogers dead ass."

If the President of the United States was in the same shape (good or bad) as President Stroger, you know the media and the public at large would not only be demanding a daily assessment of his health, but they'd GET ONE!

If the Blago was gravely ill, you know it would be demanded by the public and media (of all color) what his condition is, will he be able to do the job, who is making the decisions, etc.

So why would it be any differant for Stroger? He oversees a county budget larger than that of some states. Is it too much to ask what his condition is? Is it too much to ask if he'll be expected to come back to work? Does the public have a right to know?

Answer: NO, it's not too much to ask his condition, or if he'l come back to work. And YES, the public has a RIGHT to know what his condition is. This is not a privacy issue, Stroger is a public official and the public has a right to know whether or not he has the capacity to do the job. He has NO right to privacy until and unless he resigns his position as head of county government.

12:01 put it well, there have been no public appearances, no photo ops of Stroger sitting up in bed waving to all who wish him well. The man had a very serious stroke and he's not coming back.

Beavers is an asshole and should be ashamed of himself for trying to utilize the race card in his remarks. Let's all admit the truth, and quit hiding behind the "emporer's new clothes" mentality. Stroger is ill and needs to step down. The powers that be in the Democratic party need to put their heads together and put up a candidate.

But this is Chicago, and that isn't going to happen.

Tribune, May 25, "Alderman deserve a $20,000 raise" and "I think we deserve it" asserts Alderman Stone. Yeah, why's that? The feds being so busy in town cutting down on your graft?

I think we could do without at least HALF of those rotten crooked lying bastards, maybe more.

And as far as the mayor and governor trying to sell everything in city and state government to raise money, hey, haven't those offices been for sale for decades anyway?

I agree with Blago and Richy we need to manage better and make better use of our funds but I would first abolish the office of mayor and governor and establish a professional government management/oversite office with total transparency to the public and bonuses based strictly on performance.

Yeah, I know, in my dreams. Still, I have an orgasmic moment every time one of those miserable fucks gets convicted. At my age it's almost better than sex, the satisfaction lasts longer.

I will personally write to ryan regularly if and when he goes away and promise to send richy daley a birthday card each year on March 4th but only in prison.

It's racism because people expect to know wether or not their County Board President, who controls a multi million dollar organization, is a vegatable? Beavers, who is perhaps the biggest racist in the city, is referring to an incident which happened how may decades ago? In short, the race card doesn't trump so well anymore.

Isn't there an amendment to the Constitution that clearly states the succession to the Presidency upon grave illness?

Wasn't there also quite an uproar over Cheney's heart condition?

How in the world is it, to quote beavers "racist"? Ensuring county government continues isn't racist, dummy, it's smart. Here's an idea - since he can perform the duties of board president in this condition, maybe that position isn't all that critical. Cut some dead weight and eliminate the position. How many millions will that save us as taxpayers?

This yearsm election is already a done deal the dem canadate will win board president. Everyone White black hispanic wants to keep Todd stoger out and fill the spot with a temp ( danny davis Boobie steele) for the next 4 years and then in 2010 it will be a Democratic battle royal in the primary. P.S. this is true for the mayor election in 07 to Daley wins but come 2011 what a battle it will be for that spot Jessie Jr. guitierez dorthy brown Meeks and god knows who else there will be backroom deals and doublecrosses people yelling racism it will make free elections in Iraq look tame.

RIP John Stroger.

You could have gone out on top, retired, and been sipping a cool one down in Florida, Vegas, or Palm Springs. But you were a greedy SOB and wanted every penny you could steal.

Now you are paying the price of suffering a debilitating stroke, which at best, you may learn to use a rascal.

Your speech is slurred, you cannot walk, nor hold a pen to sign your name. Your health has played a bitter trick on you from living large.

But thats the price politicians pay for their greed. At least you won't be going to jail, as will many of your friends in politics.

Your house has been sold, and your kid thought he could just step into your shoes and ride the gravy train. But it looks like the other pols are slicing up your spoils.

RIP Bro!
