More HQ Silliness
Remember when we joked about parking getting easier down at HQ with the ongoing purge? Seems that isn't going to happen. We heard that the parking lot at HQ is being/has been re-striped. And the re-striping being marked off by yellow (or gold) stripes to delineate exempt parking has expanded by more than a couple of rows.
So the 20% manpower cut wasn't to alleviate the manpower shortages in the Districts - it was to alleviate parking problems for the Exempts. Anyone else think we have too many chiefs and not enough indians?

I believe it, when I was in my shooting. A marked car was rolling into the alley, shots were fired they backedup and got the hell out of there. What if my partner and I were shot? Don't know who they were it was such a bitch move.
Since we're talking about HQ, I thought Donald Tomzaks testimony on tuesday was hilarious. He said that minorities were promoted to create the appearance of some racial equality but it was whites who the overwhelming promotions (rigged of course) were really for. Sounds a lot like the police department (merit promotions are for the same reason). For years everyone knew how the city was run, but the Feds never touched it. The press sure as shit didn't dare talk about it. They talk about it a lot now though. Everyone knew how mobbed up the Mayor was and the press didn't talk about it. Not with the previous U.S. attorneys, it goes to show how political they were. I wonder if this U.S. attorney is going to visit the police department next. Basically the Police and Fire have similar scandals the rest of the city departments have (sometimes even worse).
About 95% of the guys with clout are pure arrogant asses! Its a shame really! I mean good for you if you know someone, but c'mon man, half the jaggs getting prime spots, units, merit sgt Lt Capt are'nt the real police let's face it. And us working police have to always sit there and swallow that bitter pill! I know it sounds like jealousy, but its frustration! Now before everyone starts screaming there are some guys who do have clout who are really good coppers and even more so....good people. Its just a shame that the working PO always takes a back seat.
I once came upon an exempt member engaging in sex with a "he-she" prostitute. He was in a non-department vehicle and it was a delayed identification by this member as to him being an officer as well as a boss. Although still in an exempt position, I never bothered him for any kind of favors or a promotion. I rather just have him forget I know anything about anything. I avoid him at all cost. The only thing to his credit is that he was highly intoxicated and the "he-she" did appear very womenly looking. My partner and I only knew of her true sex due to previous arrests. Additionally the boss was a complete gentleman to us and never gave us a problem.

The video is a disgrace. A male officer and two female officers ran away just before the shooting started. It is a miracle the lone P/O was not killed. They ran from an open area towards the security office and no where near the man they left behind.

What you heard about the 3rd District shooting is a bold-faced lie! The video clearly shows the other officers assisting with the struggle, and on screen the entire time fully involved!!!! The 3rd District Commander and 3rd Watch WC heard these BS rumors and went to Dominicks to view the video and found the rumors to be BS. The rumors need to stop. These are good young Officers who handled themselves in a commendable fashion during a shooting. I am proud to work with them on a daily basis, and would take any of them on my side in a shootout.

I am no law wiz no pretend to be a labor one either, but this seems to be complete bullshit.
From what I saw the city enacted a vision plan that was not approved by the union and that one the was changed from the prior plan. The union balks and then there is arbitration. The piss and moan back and forth and the arbitrator states the city was wrong and the union was right.
What seems like bullshit is that the arbitrator then says we are back to square one and must start talks all over again and come to an agreement. If one is not met then he will make the decision but he STRONGLY suggests against that.
In the mean time, although he says the city was wrong and the time frame has been as long as it has that we have to stay with the plan the city came up with. What the fuck did we win then?
The city wil just not pussy foot back and forth here all the union will agree to something less.

YES THE OFFICERS WERE THERE FOR THE STRUGGLE, BUT WHEN THE GUY PULLED OUT THE WEAPON THEY RAN!! I SAW THE VIDEO AND YOUR COMMANDER ASKED FOR A COPY OF IT!! ASK HIM!!
ONE FEMALE AND THE MALE WHO DIDN'T SHOOT DID ATTEMPT TO HANDCUFF THE BAD GUY.
WHEN THEY WERE UNSUCCESSFUL THE OFFICER WHO ULTIMETELY FIRED THE SHOTS CAME OVER AND ATTEMPTED TO CUFF HIM. THE BAD GUY THEN PRODUCED A HANDGUN FROM HIS WAISTBAND. THE THREE OFFICERS THEN RAN BACK TOWARD THE SECURITY OFFICE.

If you saw the video, you know what you said is not true.
Three officers ran, leaving one officer to deal with the armed offender. Look at the video closely, you will see one officer run in front of store security causing him to stumble and another officer jump over the security guard to get in front and in the security office first. The officers did not exit the security office until the shooting was over. A true disgrace.

Is it true that Phil himself has demanded a copy of the video? I understand the video shows three P.O.'s is a less than heroic nature. God Bless the P.O. who took care of business. He should be shown a copy of the video and determine for himself if he wishes to ride with any of those three in the future. don't know whether they ran or not, but heard several witnesses in the store said the police ran like mad when they saw the gun. I'm sure due to the shooting being justified, they will all be given heroic awards. makes me sick.

Naming the officers shall serve no purpose. It was a good shoot (100 % good). Taking action against the other officers shall only fuel the fire for the you-know-its-coming lawsuit.
I saw the video. They ran. The females allegedly only have three months or so on the street. Maybe they need additional training, but having to live with their actions is embarassment enough. Naming them (and the other male officer) serves no purpose.
Sorry ladies and gents, but I actually viewed the video from inside the store. It gave several camera angles, and none of the officers who were on scene ran in fear. It was as much of a textbook shooting as one could get. The officers all tried to subdue this person, maced him, and when he produced a gun, the officer in front of him shot him. The other officers were unable to fire for fear of hitting the shooting officer. The only persons on the video who ran were the citizens in the front of the store, and the two plain clothes security guards, who dove into their office as the shots were fired. All of the officers were right there doing the right thing. If you haven't seen the video, shut up!

You know what you typed was a bold faced lie.
The video clearly shows three of the four officers running when the gun is displayed. Look closely, you will se the female white officer cut the corner by the security office and run in front of one of the security guards. This caused him to stumble and fall. The male black officer running away in the same direction jumps over the fallen security guard in heroic fashion to get into the security office. The other female officer ran right along with them. All went into the security office and came out when the shooting was finished. The female whtie officer went back into the office and had a good cry according to the civilian security guard.
It would hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic.
Maybe you are watching some other video. Lastly, its my opinion that the media would only be interested in this video if the officer (G*D forbid) was slain by the offender. This will go away like a lot of other things, the heroic officer wil still be a P.O. in patrol and the cowards will eventually be promoted.

12:22:42 PM You are wrong. I watched the video, every camera, every angle, multiple times. The camera for the Security Room clearly shows one of the unarmed civilian security guards burst through the door, fall flat on his ass, get up, lock the door, and then crawl under a desk. Maybe 10 seconds later he unlocks the door and goes back out. He returns with the other security guard and they console each other for a moment, which I don't blame them for, I'm sure it was pretty traumatic for them. After that one of the females, gun still drawn enters the security office, stays there for a few seconds and goes back out.
Without a doubt the shooting officer did a phenomenal job. The three others were there all along and yes they took cover. Do you fucking know what they saw? Do you know what was in their line of fire? Neither do I. I wasn't there at that moment, just as you weren't. So its very fucking noble of you to second guess some of our own for the whole fucking world to read, including the fucking pieces of shit that will represent asshole's family because he was such an upright citizen. I wish a camera followed you all day to document all of your heroic acts. They reacted...period. Goods guys one, bad guys zero.
My thanks to the 23rd Dist. tac. team and the 16th Dist. officers who served a search warrant in 16 yesterday. They did a GREAT job.

You definately were watching another video. The three officers were not even eye witnesses to the shooting. They heard shots but did not know who was shooting. Until after they came out of the office.
You are either one of the cowards or the only person on the department that saw the video and still try to defend them.
The truth is the truth, no need to cover it up. The three running away will not hurt the one officer that stayed and defended everyone in the store. How will that event help a lawsuit?
In response to the gay games post, I just sat through some BS story on how our tax dollars are being spent by the big Dick to promote the fashion industry in Chicago. It is bad enough my health care costs keep rising, I can't send my kids to the zoos that the Dick calls the public school system, but now I have to fund a bunch of snobby fags for their fashion shows? I wonder which of the Dicks friends are going to get rich off of this one. Hmmmm, no construction or wrought fencing is needed, so this one looks like it has Luberman and the fabulous boy toys written all over it.

Go watch it again. Look at the camera that videotaped the security office, they did not go in there.

Word on the street is that M. Seiser is scheduled to go down to Cline's office to review the video tape footage. He will then judge wether the three officers will be commended, or be put to death by several patented roundhouse kicks and Ric Flair-esqe karate chops. Wooooooooooo!
Again, I viewed the tape, with all angles, including the camera in the security office. None of the CPD officers ran into the office when the shooting was going down. One did enter the office after it was over, gun drawn, checking to see if all were Ok. The only person who ran into the office as the conflict was taking place was a plainclothes security guard, who hid under the desk. CPD did not enter the office until 3 minutes after the shooting took place. As 09:00:30 PM has well put it, quit being a Monday morning quarterback.

I just saw patrol responding after I got home off the Orange Line. Heading Eastbound down 63rd Street...
I saw the video, the officers did run, but not into the security office. The officer was all alone, his three fellow officers were 20 yards away when the shots were fired. It is sad. I would not type something this sad unless it was true. The three officers ran.
There were several camera angles, maybe the one defending the officer saw one which did not show them run. they ran. End of story.
All three other officers did not run. I too saw the video, it is sad to say the least. However only two other officers that were there ran. Not sure where the third other officer was during the exchange. Wasn't there a female that was taken into custody? Maybe the other officer was with her?
Look at the video again, my friend. All three ran. You can see all three walking back out to the floor AFTER the shots were fired by the hero officer.
And yes, the one female officer was with the female offender. The hero officer was with that female officer and he walked over to help the other two who could not handcuff the bad guy. Before the shots were fired the female officer ran and left the female offender alone.
