What's Going on at HQ?
Information is starting to leak out of Fort Kool-Aid. Our earlier thread from 15 May entitled "Interesting Rumor" seems to be growing legs and the 20% manpower cut isn't just another fiction. A number of full duty people have been shipped out to other units and we hear that details are being canceled. The rumor has expanded to say that more and more light duty and disabled personnel will be moved from Alternate Response to HQ to take over spots vacated by able bodied persons. All we know is when we visit, parking is getting easier.
FACTS people, we need ... well, we can't expect a lot of facts on an anonymous website, but ... we need STORIES people. Stories with a tiny little bit of fact in them. How about that?

Granted, this post is after my 5th or 6th beer, and I'm still drinking, so my thought process might get worse as this goes on, BUT: Desk Jobs, Jobs at 35th St, and a small number of other various inside jobs are important. In some ways, just as important as a beat car, maybe not as "vital" but important none the less. HOWEVER: why in the fuck is some 5 year and under wonder working at 35th ST? A cop on a disability, some 20+ veterans; FUCK YES! Putting some "computer wiz kid" with 3 years on the job, some "eye candy", or your favorite "cock-sucker" (both M & F) My mommy/daddy is so-n-so. To you: Tough shit, hope you like your uniform, may I suggest some better shoes to walk your beat? Buy a good raincoat & long johns, you might need them! There are WAY TOO MANY in comfortable spots that don’t deserve them! I have absolutely no problem with some PO with a frayed collar, who at the least remembers when guns were a misdemeanor, sitting behind a desk. To the jag-off that’s still shitting food from the academy, GET YOUR ASS OUT ON THE STREET AND DO SOME GOD DAMN WORK! Don’t like it, cant handle it, afraid… well the answer is simple…. QUIT!

THATS IT. Well, if that is not something in itself, this letter(whether true or not) infuriated our leader because it meant one thing...LAZINESS. And laziness means UNSAFE. It sounds crazy guys and gals, but on that given day, with that given letter, ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. A LIGHT, no, A BEACON OF MASSIVE PROPORTIONS WAS LIT. And so it goes. THE FINAL POINT: HQ's will ONLY feature people that REALLY CAN NOT WORK ON THEIR FEET(handicap) or PEOPLE THAT NEED TO BE THERE.(management/civilian) and that means REALLY NEED TO BE THEIR. Oh, one other thing...cigarette smokers beware. A PET PEEVE OF OUR LEADERS(again, for whatever reason) equates cigarette smoking with LAZINESS. This was brought up in the meeting as a STRONG POINT. The "RAT" has spoken.

Off topic here, but I just saw some items for sale on ebay that shocked me. One was a Lambert tree Award medal and the other was a retired CPD star. Made me sad, and wonder why doesn't FOP ban the sale of those items?

Pay attention to the news once in a while. Last week Cook County Sheriff's Police and our IAD did a search warrant that got over 100 fake CPD stars from a Suburban coppers house who was selling them to anyone with the money. I heard he had stars of every rank including retired's, even the Superintendent's which he was selling for $1,000 or something like that. They were perfect replicas with serial numbers on the back. You'd never know the difference between them and a real one. THAT'S SCARY!
Never heard of anyone selling a Lambert Tree before though. That's just sad.

There is no list out. No merit has even been requested. Why would some idiot make up stories on a blog is beyond me. People close on that list are curious as the above poster would be if he was close. But he is an idiot so he will never have to worry about being promoted.
FOP stated that a merit nomination should be out in the next few weeks with an approximate class of 75 being promoted in the fall off the current list. That would be the final promotion off the list taking the total up to approximately 375, making it the least promoted list in several tests (last test went to 514 on the number).

Sounds plausible but I know a boss who recently told me that Phil doesn't read his mail. Has some Sgt's maybe even a Lt to do that for him. They read it and send answers or forward to proper place. But who knows maybe once Phil felt like checking things out? Well I'll go back to sitting here daydreaming about all the strokes I know down there going back on the street. ...There are several MISTAKES noted, -such as the outdated use of the "Weapons Discharge Report" that is supposed to be included on our reading list...
Check the teletypes. One came out recently correcting that there would be no weapon discharge report on the exam, although there may be a weapon discharge incident.

In April stats came out and our car 3 guys all ex-tact had over a hundred more responses to jobs and a faster clearance time than anyone else on the watch. We are here for 8 hours, just go do it. the night goes faster responding to everything than sitting on your asses! besides the fact that we have no phone calls so every new call is a scenario to throw around about what the SGT is responsible for.

Speaking of details, what about the bullshit "dead heroin junkie" detail at Homan Square where they fucked a bunch of detectives and just detailed them there without asking for volunteers. Just what we need, detectives there that could be out on the street investigating real crimes. I guess the bosses both in the Areas and Downtown would rather kiss asses and keep their bullshit positions instead of clearing aggravated batteries and homicides. Actually I remember it was going to be called shift differential. It was going to be for 1st and 3rd watches. But then the FOP realized all the daytime dollies and Mon thru Fir straight days weekends off would be left out so the FOP changed it. I believe our great FOP got it made into duty availability The rest is history.
