The Circus Begins Again

No, not the SOS saga.

We're talking about the first day of school! Another (almost) fall day of inflated statistics that'll will mean absolutely nothing come Graduation Day 9 months from now. It's all a scam.

The Mayor needs a big first day of attendance to get all sorts of Federal grant money approved to pour into his failing school system and not have to raise taxes on the middle class again. So there will be give aways, barbecues, open houses and all sorts of circus type garbage designed to get people to do what they should be doing anyway - getting their kids educated.

And attendance on Wednesday? We'll predict low 80%, especially in the high schools. And downward from there.

UPDATE: What's the first day of school without someone being shot? Congrats CVS!

Keep an eye on TV today, Ex- Governor George Ryan gets sentenced.

Time to answer for single-handedly flushing the GOP down the toilet in the Land of Lincoln. Lets not forget about clearing death row of the convicted murderers!

I hope they throw the book at this scumbag and I hope he dies alone in prison. A lesson for all our politicians to heed.

The problem with many of "these" schools is not the students, but the parents who do not care. School is nothing more than another day care center so they can "live their lives, ya know".

Also, with the opening of the schools, the gang fall offensive begins. Be careful.

Theres a real quick solution to that problem. Resign! Pull out the PAR form, check the resignation box, sign it and your done. Then you can move to Naperville and live happily ever after. And we won't have to listen to (or read about) your constant moaning about a stipulation to being hired that YOU knew about when you signed up. Oh, they didn't tell you that you had to reside within the City when you were hired? They told the rest of us.

Yet, I STILL can afford a bullshit little ranch in a safe neighborhood.

There are not that many nuclear physicists that want to live in Chicago!!!!!!!!!

Man drowns in Lake Michigan

A 24-year-old man drowned in Lake Michigan after he and a group of friends stole a lifeguard boat near Ohio Street Beach, police said. The body of Javier Leal, 25, of Berwyn, was recovered about 2:30 p.m. Monday by members of the police Marine Unit, according to police News Affairs Officer JoAnn Taylor. His group was on the lakefront near 1000 N. Lake Shore Dr. about 2:20 a.m. Monday when they decided to take a boat, Taylor said. The group broke a lock that was securing it, and took it out onto the lake. The boat is designed for only one occupant, Taylor said. The group got out of the boat and tried to swim to shore, but Leal drowned, she said.

Lets look at who the REAL PEOPLE are. How come west side kids got free haircuts and back packs? My whitey kids didnt get anything. Why do we kiss these PEOPLES ASS?

As for residency rule....think of this...How about better benefits....a large increase in pay...a break on city taxes/licensing. You know...all the things that the west side people get for free. We get nothing for having to live here and cater to these scumbags.

I say we get PERKS for having to live here. Strength in numbers boys and girls. Id rather stay here and get compinsated for it. Stop all the free ride bullshit.

Thats what we as city workers are paying for. ARE YOU LISTENING/READING THIS FOP? MARK DONAHUE WHERE ARE YOU ON THESE ISSUES? ARE YOU WITH US? START DEMANDING THIS FROM THE CITY...NOW!!!

Now I have to ask this? How many of the whinnie, crybay, kiddie cops in diapers came here from suburban police departments? Next, why did you leave? And if you ahte it so much here, why don't you go back?

You knew you had to live in the city when you signed on. I know you did not learn to read in kidde police school (academy) so you ahd to read the paper and see the problems we have here- or don't they have the Times and Trib in the horse and buggy town you came from.

You knew that you would be dealing with the welfare wonders, gang bangers, dope dealers, and every crazy in between. You also knew that the public schools here suck if your kid has an above room temperature IQ.

You knew all this, annnnnnnnnd, you still moved here and worked on the CPD. I may not be the brightest guy in the world, and I have made my share of mistakes, but, I think I am a genius compared to you mopes.

Get with the program or quit and go live in the burbs.

The Deferred Comp laptop was stolen in April 2005. That's close to 1 1/2 years ago. It takes these a**holes over a year to inform us. I received the letter today. When I called and asked them why it took so long to let us know the rep mumbled some administrative mis-communication, blah blah bs, in other words, a cover-up or f*ck-up. Take your pick. FOP where are you on this? Can we see the copy of the supposed police report that was made? This is the second time in 2-3 years Police Officers personal information is stolen.

Hello. I brought my child to school today without a free backpack and supplies, circus tents and other freebees. Isn't that what a responsible parent is supposed to do? This isn't rocket science. School starts today, make sure your kid is there and participates. Oh yea, I received a electronic voice call the other day reminding me as well...why must we dumb-down this society?

Hey Richie, if you want a better showing of kids at school, start building new schools on the NW side. I'm sure a lot more parents would take advantage of newer schools, less crowding, etc. if given the chance, rather than spending 10G on a private school. Did you ever think of that? You wouldn't have to BEG the parents to send them to school either...and you wouldn't have to throw in the free backpacks and supplies and other goodies 'cause as responsible parents we do that on our own. Some of the schools are so old and crumbling....asbestos removal, trailer classrooms, etc. Start catering to the ones who pay taxes through the nose. Oh yea, most of us didn't sneak over the boarder to get here either. We deserve new schools here.

Hey, SCC, you must have a crystal ball(s) or something. Just saw the news on the fire in Rogers Park. Guess who they are looking to put blame on. The owner of the building.

I guess it was his fault that the electricity was turned off, it was his fault that candles were burned for light, and it was his fault that the guy had twelve people living in an apartment meant for no mre than six. Next, they will blame city inspectors.

BTW a fund has been set up forthe family. You can go to any LaSalle Bank to donate.

This is a horrible tragedy that could have been avoided if the adults were responsible.

To 6:54am You are a fool! Just because someone points out the better value for a house outside of Chicago means to you they should quit the job? Times have long changed since many of us first came on the job. We all knew that we had to live here, but things are much more different now. Just to name a few..the schools, the neighborhoods, the crime, lack of police in our neighborhoods, insurance rates, taxs, price of homes, cost of living, and even the expensive city stickers. The price for reg. unleaded today is $3.23 in Chicago. Just across the city limits in Elk Grove it's $2.91. And why do I have to pay $850 a month to send my kids to a private school? When I grew up my parents did not have to send us to a private school. Do you remember long ago when Taft H.S. was an ok school? There is no reason to hold us captive in a city that is slowly being destroyed. It's crazy how little of a home one can get for such a large price in this city. Times have changed and it's time for the residency rule to change. Don't worry your house will not lose it's value. City workers are not the only people that choose to live here.

If I sent her to public school the only thing she will learn is how to get welfare benefits after she drops the multi cultural gang banger. Welfare 101 is taught in the fifth grade in CPS.

CPS is a joke. A joke on the tax payer, us.

The national Grand Lodge of the FOP took big money from the Democratic party years ago to support the liar in chief, Clinton. They have also taken money form several anti gun groups. They corrupted themselves and now have to always vote Democratic.

Donahugh has no choice. He has to go along with the program. He is also close to all the big Dems down State. He was the State President, before we got stupid andelected him to our lodge. He will support any Democrat who hates us. And they do hate us, or we would have the best health care for free, the best dental care, for free, and decent pay raises, instead of the lousy three to four per cent we have been getting over the past twenty olus years.

People, we were sold out in 1982 by the FOP. They have been selling us out ever since. Get smart. Look some place else for a real union. Even the Teamsters are better than the FOP, at least you know they will lie to you to your face, man to man.
