Department News

A couple of interesting bits of info:
  • A "School Overtime" initiative. Looks like the Department is hiring people back, off duty, on their days off, at time and a half, to help the young kiddies get out of the schools in one piece. A mere 5 years after disbanding the entire School Unit, it seems enough high schools are completely out of control at dismissal time that the school system that pisses away taxpayer dollars at a regular rate is now throwing money the Department's direction. Get it while it's hot people.
  • Anyone want 100 rounds of ammunition? New Department Order coming out Monday - if you want to go to the any Department Range to practice, you can show up on second or third watch and they'll give you 100 rounds to put through the gun - EVERY YEAR! Or at least until the Federal money runs out - because you know there's no way the mayor would approve anything that might make us better shots.
  • We're still shorthanded. Second City Sarge covers some of the old axes we ground up a while ago, but it's still a topic worth looking at as there has been no change in the situation. We're still short bodies, morale still blows, and the political establishment is slowly killing this job.

Funny, I haven't heard anything about this school overtime program. Once again one of the house mice must have stolen the fax and only given the information to their friends.
Heaven forbid the working coppers get a shot at the overtime.

Yeah, bigmouth us. God forbid that this Department would actually have it's officers put more that 30 rounds a year through their guns in the hopes that should the shit ever hit the fan, we can get more than 19% of our shots on target.

LOW MORALE? Not mine and not most of the guys/gals I work with.

No, I'm not a house mouse. I work a car in a fairly busy district and I love it.

So when you talk about morale be sure to say that it's your morale that is low, not mine.

And as far as ammunition goes, guess what, you and buy it any time you like, instead of waiting for a free handout you whining saps.

Unfortunately yourself and SCS are taking a very skewed view. the dept doesn't have a morale problem. Its only the patrol division at the district level that has a problem, and the administration is working quickly to solve it.See, the plan is to slowly siphon off all the strength of the patrol division. Sure, there will be a morale problem for awhile but eventually we will have siphoned off all of the patrol division to special units, teams, etc so there will be no one left to have low morale. Everyone except the desk crew and watch commanders will be gone and, hell, they already got good inside jobs so they won't have a morale problem. Everyone else will be on a special team so we can all feel special and proud of ourselves for making the cut,Morale problem solved.

Speaking of shortages the state crime lab is backlogged with processing fingerprint evidence. The department sent a to from telling the evidence collectors to differenciate between burglary and home invasion burglary. I am sure the latent print section of CPD will try to pick up the slack with an already shortage of latent print examiners to do the normal work load already.

Thanks for making that school overtime so convenient... roll call/check off only in 010 District, and only the worst of the worst schools will be included in the program. Plan to work 99 so be prepared to wait for back-up when you call a 10-1. NO THANKS!

The extra 100 rounds for everyone sounds like great news which we've only heard rumors about so far. God knows we all need the practice. I wouldn't count on it starting on Monday though - I work at the range and they haven't told us anything about it yet so we could order more ammo, etc. Of course it wouldn't be the first time that they published something without letting us know....

-----------------------------------

The first thing you should do at work everyday is to go on the Intranet.. then "AMFN Fax Messages"
It has all the faxes that are sent that we never see cause the front office people get BBQ sauce all over 'em and they never get in the CO book.

to 1257:39 am, learn how to use the computer, all the fax messages are on the i clear system. I'm sure your retort will be to call me a do nothing house mouse, just to let you know in advance, ouch you hurt my feelings. start taking accountability for yourself and stop blaming everyone else for your troubles.

An open letter to the new tact lieutenant in 005:

It's pronounced "asked" not "axed".

"Mines" is the plural of the noun mine as in "There are two coal mines in Coal City." "Mines" is never used in the possessive form (or in words your illiterate ass will understand; to describe something you own.)

Now start acting and speaking professionally, dipshit. You are embarassing us all.

Thank you, that is all.

Disrespectfully,
The 005 District.

P.S. Don't expect us all to bang down your door at the same time to work tact for you. We're not that impressed.

I'm actually pretty good with computers. I do at least 1 arrest report and inventory a day. I know how to cut and paste my narratives from my arrest report to my felony 101's. I even have a flash drive with numerous complaints on PDF to help my efficiency, so I can go out and catch more bad guys.
Thanks for letting me know about the faxes on the intranet. It will give me something to read while I wait for felony review to call me back.
As for how you chose to relate that information to me, just remember if it weren't for coppers like me, coppers like you might actually be expected to do some work.
Later days, chairborne.

Wow, I stand corrected. Always great to hear about something that affects your job from the blog instead of a supervisor or boss. Anyone reading this - please give us a few days to get our ducks in a row, and call ahead to make sure we can get you what you need.

Area 2 747-7522

10/23/06 7:52:50 What this really means is let the range guys get their fair share of the ammo first, and shoot off their 1000 rounds first apiece, and then, only then, will we get sloppy seconds. Lol.

Hey crybaby, if you don't want to work tact, then quit and go on the watch. In regards to the lieutenant's misuse of the English language, who cares?

P.S. I don't even know who he is, so, there.

Hey goof, read the order. You only get 100 rounds per year. Do you really think they would give us an endless supply because bung holes like the SOS 4 would be selling it on ebay.

This message is to "Disrespectfully, the 005th District." I would worry less about how your new tact Lt. talks, and more about what kind of a leader he is. God knows, the lardass he replaced wasn't much of one. I doubt that your former Tact Lt. would have lasted long before Matthews got the axe; your new Cmdr. just brought a sharp knife in with him, and used it quickly! I think you guys would at least give the man a chance before busting him out here on the blog, Goddamn, the man JUST got there. He can't do any worse than JB, who did little more than hide in his office. One can only hope YOUR grammar and punctuation are
above reproach.

I got news for you. The Area 2 gun team has plenty of their own ammo, and if those officers should ever receive a challenge from a bad guy on a warrant, all I can say is, "I PITY DA FOOL!" Those guys rock, my partner and I assisted them on a warrant out here in 007, and that team was ready! They had a good plan, a couple of their people had pump shotguns at the ready, we got in and out real quick, and nobody in the dope flat gave those guys any shit. The have some good bosses on the team. My partner and I would work with them anytime, anywhere. THEY ROCK!!
