A Waste of Ballot Space

Did everyone see and vote on the non-binding resolutions at the back of the ballots?

The first one read "For the sake of the children..." should Illinois ban .50 caliber weapons? We'd like to present a list of all the children killed in Illinois by .50 caliber weapons: [ ]

Now we'd like to present a list of all the adults killed by .50 caliber weapons in the state of Illinois in the past 100 years: [ ]

And just to give everyone a sense of proportion, he's a list of every single United States citizen killed by a .50 caliber round upon US soil: [ ]

If this ballot "initiative" doesn't prove that Representative and Chicago cop Edward Acevedo is nothing but an empty suit seeking headlines and antigun credentials, we don't know what is. Hey Eddie? Legal firearms don't kill people. Look it up.

The other two initiatives:
  • Raise the minimum wage in Illinois a buck an hour. After the recent Tribune article about State pension funds being underfunded to the tune of 46 BILLION dollars, the last thing anyone should want to do is RAISE the cost of doing business in the state. But of course, economic realities have never stood in the way of the Illinois combine pandering to the lowest common denominator.
  • Withdraw from Iraq - who the hell sponsored this one? The states aren't allowed to make foreign policy for a reason.
How about we have a couple referendums about pension funding? Low bid contracting? Having the wife of the governor rack up a cool hundred grand for selling 4 houses during the course of the year, one or more to close political allies who landed jobs for relatives shortly thereafter?

You know, something that might make a difference?

For the sake of the children .... should we stop bussing students?

For the sake of the children ... should we stop social promotion in the schools?

What the hell does the ownership of a 50 cal have to do with children? How the hell could they allow such a leading question on the ballot?

For the sake of the citizens, should we kill all democrats?

For the sake of the police, should we remove Daley from office?

the appropriate question would be ... For the sake of all criminals, should we ban all guns?
Criminals (by definition) don't obey the laws on the books, so who do they think this proposed referendum will effect?

Looking at the people who won, I can't believe these uneducated asshats actually voted for these moronic Democrats. You assholes that voted for Blago just are rediculous, more corrupt Chicago politics running the state. Stupid. Same with that asshat Stroger, Cook County is the Most fucked County in Illinois, now it is worse. People should vote on policy not skin color.

I said this once before and I'll say it again.
Eddie Acevedo is by far the dumbest fucking person on this earth and it really shows. For one , talk about lowering the standards for the CPD . He has NO right being allowed to carry a gun let alone pass a law about banding .50 cal. weapons. WTF !
Eddie , my advice to you is to take one of the 50 cal . and stick it up your ass and I'll pull the trigger for you. Eddie , you are one dumb FUCK !

LoL. Yeah, I saw that "for the sake of our children" bullshit line when I voted. Disgraceful. They are counting on elderly, senile voters who only saw that line...

"Well, if it's for the children, ok."

Fuck that nonsense.

The " for the sake of the children" statement floored me!
I'm marking yay or nay on someone's personal misguided beliefs! Here's another fine example of the bleeding liberal who knows more than I do about my own safety. Like telling me I have to wear a seatbelt. I'm not allowed to play with guns. I have to have cameras posted in my neighborhood to babysit me. I can't torture geese by eating foie gras. I can't smoke because my secondhand smoke will harm me more than my initial drag. I'm not allowed to drive down my street at legal speed because I may run over a child, hence the speed bumps.
Next election's ballot will ask if running with scissors should be outlawed. Maybe we can pass the vote that you should only be able to cook a Tombstone pizza between the hours of 10 am and 10 pm. to prevent you from burning the roof of your mouth while intoxicated.
I'm beginning to feel like I live in Canada.

Average IQ of the chicago citizens 80...average IQ nationally 100......Chicago citizens are not the brightest........they vote the whoop and holler ministers selections with th hopes that they will benefit...usually in the form of some "poor me" liberal handout...the Blacks as a people made more in roads in education and aconomically prior to 1960's civil rights act...the black politicos want them to beleieve that it was because of their stewardship they were brought to the level that they are today....which is a lie ...black individuals rose up from individual circumstances prior to 1960's....and accomplished much more than has been accomplishd since the 1960's civil rights act...hence the stupidity of the Chicago voter...theey are numb from the white liberals who have strangled their initiative........

Once again, these issues wouldn't be on the ballot if they were not a concern for the overwhelming majority of the population. That's how democracy works. I realize that your authoritarian tendencies has a way of cancelling out any awareness of this simple fact.

Check the polls on puplic opinion if your're not convinced of where the puplic stands on these key issues. If you STILL have doubts, then carefully reflect on what happened to the GOP ticket yesterday. Stay safe.

What I would like to know is who wrote that up and ok'ed it for the ballot.I was floored by the way it was written as if Joe Shmo rolls down the street with a 50 cal, putting the hurt on people. I believe a few well directed letters/e-mails are in order if someone can find out where to send them.

When off-duty, I always carry one of my Barrett .50 caliber semiautomatic rifles on a sling beneath my trenchcoat.
Ten round mags and acceptable stopping power. Only 33 pounds with the scope, laser and tactical light.

Makes a great Christmas gift for you or that special law enforcement officer in your life. You can pick up the 82A1 for less than $7,800.

Unlimited lifetime supply of Democrat silhouette targets gratis. Great secondary weapon for the Heckler & Koch MP5.

WOW, The Democrats win big at the polls. Here is a list of the top 10 ways they are promising to change the country.

01. Now they will derail every thing the white House trys to do even if it is good for the country and the citizens.
02. Raise taxes, Social security taxes and the retirement age to receive Social security.
03. Grant amnesty to the illegals and give them Public Aid and Social security.
04. Gut the military, pull the troops out before the job is done. Abandon the Iraqi people and Government. Then blame the Republicans when Iraq turns to shit.
05. Repeal the Patriot act and surrender to the war on terror, putting us all at risk.
06. Quadrupal the size of government for all their liberal progams.
07. Pat each other on the back and tell each other how good of a job they are doing.
08. Show the rest of the world the U.S is a bunch of liberal pussies and the country is for sale.
09. Blame BUSH for everything.
10. Blame BUSH for everything.

I am proud to be an AMERICAN! Are you????

A well-placed .50 caliber round would make a human target into hamburger.

Any politicians calling for a ban on this extremely rare weapon are just using a red herring to dupe the electorate.

Outside of military bases, you would probably have to travel to Iraq or Afghanistan to find this expensive weapon of massive destruction.

.22 cal for kindergarten
.38 cal & 9 mm for grade school
.40 & .45 cal for H.S. (.45 honors students only)
.50 Cal for actually college students

I believe all our problems of getting kids to show up for school would be solved. Forget free trips to disney and free computers, give the kids what they want guns.

What's the difference between dumbocrats and Republicans?...
The Republican supporters don't threaten to move to France when their canidates lose.

But all is not lost. The dumbocrats will F**k up over the
next two years and the Republicans will be back.

There should have been a ballot referendum stating something to the effect of this:

Should the City of Chicago, Cook County, and the State of Illinois develop a system where there is actually someone worthy of voting for?

"For the health and safety of children and the entire community, shall the State of Illinois enact a comprehensive ban on the manufacture, sale, delivery and possession of military-style assault weapons and .50 caliber rifles?"
The anti-gun Blagojevich-Daley duo are promoting passage of HB 2414, a gun ban bill that failed to pass last year in spite of several amendments that were little more than weak attempts to gain support by pretending to water down the bill.

http://www.nraila.org/CurrentLegislation/Read.aspx?ID=1870

However, with the resent Democratic win it's certain that it will be voted on again and possibly pass this time, and apply state wide.

The .50 cal portion is from the anti- hunting groups. .50 cal is what the blackpowder hunters use to hunt deer. They hate hunting and want to save Bambi so they were able to start this resolution.

Imagine that someone trying to save those random killers (deer). Another advocate for the criminals rights. But I guess it's better to let the deer roam free and prance around the forest preserves and eventually or backyards, our streets and our expressways. Yeah free to cohabitate with the community and free to make more bambis and then eventually eat up all their resources and then starve to death. Yep that a better way just let them starve to death. All the while jumping out in front of cars and motorcycles free to maim and injure those mean human beings. For the sake of the children save the deer so they can kill kids later when they learn to drive.

Sorry SCC I'm rambling, I'll leave now, I have to eat my state mandated vegatables.

THE VOTERS HAVE SPOKEN. The majority of the people ARE NOT HAPPY with the direction this country has taken over the recent past. Get over it. We'll see how, or if, things get turned around. My opinion, things can't go much worse with George W. Moron still in the White House. And throwing Rumsfeld on W's sword so late in the game is too little, too late. For you die hard W supportors, you've had your chance, the war has worsened, "Mission accomplished" is a blatant sham. Let's see how things go from here on out.

Ahhh, It's you again. I see you're still as confused as ever Doubter.

Since it's obviously necessary, I'll simplify the matter for you duubtful one. An issue like sending a manned mission to Mars isn't likely to show up on a ballot referendum because, for most people, it isn't an overwhelming concern. The availability of assault weapons and our nation's illegal occupation of Iraq, however, is a completely different matter.

Once again I direct your attention to the GOP losses on Tuesday if you still harbor doubts about the mood of the public.

PS: One more thing Doubter, I couldn't help but notice that you haven't take me up on my challenge to compare evidence and sources on the issue of US aggression in southeast Asia from the "Let Them Die Already" thread. A wise choice. Stay safe.
