Slaughter of Innocents
Lost in the hubbub of St. Patty's Day was this little item from the Associated Press (linked via YahooNews):
- Suspected members of extremist groups have signed up as school bus drivers in the United States, counter terror officials said Friday, in a cautionary bulletin to police. An FBI spokesman said, "Parents and children have nothing to fear."
Asked about the alert notice, the FBI's Rich Kolko said, "There are no threats, no plots and no history leading us to believe there is any reason for concern," although law enforcement agencies around the country were asked to watch out for kids' safety.
No history? Do us a favor - go Google the word "Beslan." Never mind, we'll do it for you. Then if you have the stomach for seeing dead children, click on a few of the links or the Google images. Hey FBI Spokesman? There's your fucking history. Jagoff. Go read this entire article and wonder how the hell the FBI ever gets anything done right.
You want to know what the next terror attack is going to be? It's going to be in one of America's grade schools. Or on a bus full of children. Not a high school. And you want to know how it will probably go down?

- Gunmen storm a school, killing on site security (if any) and any number of adults on scene.
- Any males who might be perceived as a problem will be summarily executed as a warning to anyone else who might cause problems, especially anyone perceived as a security threat.
- Children will be rounded up from the classrooms from where they have been locked down to "protect" them from rampaging gunmen. The locks will prove no obstacle to the hostage takers and they'll grab 30 to 40 children at a time who have been so conveniently boxed up for them
- Any other males will be forced at gunpoint or by a few more summary executions to fortify/secure defensible positions, such as an interior library, office or gymnasium. Upon completion of the fortifications, these males will also be executed.
- Should the situation run any length of time, adult females and some adolescents will be separated from their students for two purposes: to increase the uncertainty and fear among the children and to provide "entertainment" for their captors.
- Once an unrealistic set of demands are issued, children will die. Plain and simple. Lots of children will die. Teachers, too. And probably more than a few policemen.
This is almost EXACTLY how the Beslan school event occurred. Or how about this scenario?
- A bus route, manned by one or more of these "extremists" who the FBI claims there is nothing to fear from, fails to deliver one or more busloads of children to school on time. The GPS that is supposed to be in the bus has mysteriously been deactivated.
- While police are called and the bus company contacted to determine who the driver is, what the bus number may be, what was the route taken, who was the last child picked up, etc., somewhere behind a warehouse or on some deserted railroad tracks or in some abandoned building, "extremists" are making snuff films for internet distribution to completely shock and frighten America.
Beslan. On American soil. We don't often hope to be wrong or completely mistaken, but this is one of those times. Because we as a city and we as a Department are no where near ready for something like this.

maybe they'll hit court houses to try to disrupt our judicial system. a lot of coppers will loose their lives because the jagoffs still continue to disarm us in court. we will be targeted, hunted down and murdered without any ability to defend ourselves or all the other civilians in the bldg. the terrorist will then take out the one unarmed security goof or the one cook county sherrif that has his/her head burried in a magazine, clueless of whats going on.

You are right SCC. Beslan is one of many "incidents". Isreal, by law, places armed police/guards with every group of children (1 guard per 30 children). They know what is at stake.

Do you all realize that we have an entity called the "Counterterrorism Section" that is woefully understaffed, untrained, unqualified, and inexperienced in the business of counterterrorism. We also have a Joint Terrorism Task Force, which, although a little better in training and qualifications, is still ridiculously understaffed. It is these folks job to prevent and deter an attack well in advance of its culmination. Too often, we focus on the response to terrorism, and pay little attention to prevention. We can blame anyone we want, and we can praise the US soldiers all we want "for keeping the fight away from our homeland," but the reality is, it is up to you, the patrol officer and detective, to stop a terrorist attack on our soil.
God bless our soldiers, cusre the politicians that condemn and prosecute them.
thanks for the heads up on this story if anyone went to "bulletproof mind" seminars the instructor mentioned this and said it was his biggest fear, its another reason to carry your weapon off duty, you may not be able to stop it all the killings but at least slow it down til more help arrives, be safe and carry!!

My understanding is that even at the state level there are no plans whatsoever to deal with this scenario. Everyone thinks they will just call the FBI hostage rescue guys, who, by the way, are in fucking Virginia. I think it will go down at multiple schools at the same time which will really mess things up. God help us.
Here's a problem just as scary as the "bus driver terrorist". Just read what has been happening in Iraq: car bomings using chlorine gas. I believe that the next terrorist attack here will be chemical. Even the Showtime series Sleeper Cell covered that issue in its first season. Other thantact, gang, SOS, TRU - who has gas masks? Where are they? In our lockers? And what training other than SOS has any cop had on response to a chemical attack? From TARA? A lecture series? Please. The cop on the street is nothing more than the canary in a coal mine. Both unions: FOP & PBPA should be jumping all over the equipment and training issue. I recently retired, but in my own district, it was suggested that on a Saturday or other off school day, the DISTRICT personnel, not our so called "elite" units practice a School Violent Incident. At least do a walk through to get familiar with the layout, hiding places and entrances of our larger schools. That made too much sense so it was never was done.
As it was said, it is impractical to train individual officers to respond to a terrorist attack.
While we are on the subject of School Busses. Every so often I see one school bus at Steinmetz High School on Barry and Mobile. It has a paper sign in the window that says, "Steinmetz #??". It drops off one kid in the morning and picks that one kid up in the afternoon. Now maybe the bus goes to another school and picks up a full load. But, given the mentality of our school system I would not be surprised that this one bus was dedicated to that one kid. It would be cheaper for the taxpayers (us)to get the kid a taxi everyday or one of those Pace Patient Transports.

You missed the point-we're also hard targets, I'm probably harder than most; however, our kids in these shithole public schools are not. Although I took the TARA training to get the hell off midnights for a week, I can honestly say it was the single most important in-service I've gone to in seveteen years. And the message was clear-schools will be the targets. Keep voting for democrats or liberal republicans who decry racial and ethnic profiling-Barack Hussien Obama is one-and you'll eventually be taking you're three days for death in family.

Somehow I got the feeling that the exempts, their families and their entourages would be put up in the

I just saw one of the worst ass kicking I ever saw. It was by far the worse beating I've ever seen another human being dish out to another. One small problem. Anyone else would have been charged with simple battery, bonded out in 4 hours, and back to work on Monday as if nothing happened. While I agree with this guy being a fucking jag, it's a shame he will most likely be charged and convicted of agg batt without any problems yet if any one of us would seek charges against a shithead we would have to jump through fucking hoops for the states attorneys. Fucking sad.

You proofread arrest reports? No desk dolly (even if you are a man, you have a broad's job) has the right to criticize a street copper.
SOMEONE should proofread these arrest and case reports, because the vast majority of them suck. And if that person is a "desk dolly", so be it. Incorrect spelling, incoherent sentences, poor choice of words. Most of the case reports that I see are so bad that I would be ashamed to submit them and ask a Sgt. to sign them. And whats this seperation between the people on the street and those that work inside? Keep telling yourself that your better than the inside people "Mr. 2 Minutes on the Job"and maybe someone will believe you. That someone will be you, but at least it's someone.

iad the inspector general are all out for hot stories to give to the press on a platter! they do this to try to make themselves look good! that is why if you are forced to talk to them they give you the bullshit "we are your friends not after you onley here to help you line". maybe they are not directly after you but after they sit you down and they stand over you to try to intimidate you then they make a case! never talk to them without counsel present NEVER! I agree that the clown who beat up this woman should be charged fully and sent directly to prison bye to his house and family if he has any!
Back on topic, last year in 010 or 011 police responded to a call of two middle easterners loading very heavy crates into a panel van. When they dropped one of the crates it alledgedly split open spilling out guns. That night the furniture store on devon and maplewood burnt to the ground and 024 kept a detail at the site till ATF crime lab people showed up a few days later. Anyone have any more info on these incidents? Also another incident about a suspect cell in 024 since 911 and to my knowledge no one has confirmed or denied.

Why aren't officers who actually work the street, doing what they were hired to do, get paid more than officers who are in reality clerks, sitting at desks.
