- First up, the bank robbery standoff. No one killed, no one wounded despite a large number of shots fired by the subject. Schools had to be locked down, streets closed, etc., and it all seems to have gone reasonably well. Coverage at Channel 2, Channel 5, Channel 7, Sun Times, Tribune. Great job people
- Corey Flagg flipping left and right on the hook in an effort to get his sentence reduced to 10 years or so. This one has the potential of embarrassing some highly placed people - again.
- Hanhardt wants a new trial
- OPS investigating another off duty "beating," this time involving an 11 year old boy
- The Jefferson Tap businessmen file suit
- The off duty railroad guy who had a gun and was shot some 25 times by CPD and who still managed to live has a jury deliberating his fate. We seem to recall someone saying that this guy had been fired by CPD years ago? Regardless, this trial seems to be about whether or not CPD had a right to shoot him.
- And the mayor is set to introduce his OPS overhaul proposal to the City Council today. We're still trying to get definitive answers on whether or not any of this falls within contract provisions and where 5th Amendment Rights might surface.

Me thinks that they are trying to clean house as fast as they can before they seat the new administration.
Let Cline deservedly take the heat and clear the air. Mayor Daley really has his hands full with the current CPD situation, he is afterall 100% accountable.
Sheri Mecklenburg bailed out fast, good indicator. City Hall now has eyes and ears in the Northern Illinois US Attorneys Office. I wonder how Patrick Fitzgerald feels about that one?
The big question is are they allowing Cline to stay until October to maximize his pension?
If he is only getting job offers from Cicero his reputation in law enforcement and credibility are shot. It is interesting how Sneed and Monique Bond are ever so slyly attempting to bolster it though.
Locke Bowman and crew are demanding that the City council deny Mayor Daley's OPS proposal. This will be very interesting considering the new alignment created in the last election. Alderman are not stupid and don't want to jeopardize their luxurious seats.
The really funny thing is that they are focusing on OPS which only investigates immaterial noncriminal complaints.
The real work is done at the Internal Affairs Dept. as we know the infamous IAD. Nobody has even touched upon the investigative capabilities of IAD and the fact that they are not only a part of the CPD but within the Office of the Superintendent. IAD can kill an investigation as fast as it began if you are politically connected, if not you are doomed.
My take on the whole deal is that it is a smoke and mirrors ploy to make it look like the Mayor and the CPD are being reformed by moving OPS. Nothing will change you can bet on that.
What about the coppers being "secretly stripped" sent to call back and not told why? Be careful this dept. will screw you so fast as daley knows he is a criminal and will do anything to save his sorry ass hang all of us out to dry!

Boys & Girls, it is now apparant we are in the gun sights of the chicago media and they are ready to shoot at us at will. In my opinion do not give them a "target" to hit.
What is going to happen, every little thing that is alleged that one of us do to anyone (family included) will be the subject of a news report (another scandal, another cop gone wild)
I have now learned my lesson, if it doesn't involve me I am wearing blinders. Yea maybe that is a shitty thing to do but now-a-days is it really worth it to go the extra mile especially off duty? I think not.
Just remember do what is required to do and in certain circumstances go beyond what you need to do but make sure you are working when you do it (even then watch yourself) but off duty, I will not help anyone that will potentially get me in a jam, I just won't do it, I will just be a spectator and call 911.

Everyone is so anti Cline and worried about his pension. I didn't hear anyone crying when Commander Acosta pled guilty for stealing from the Heroes Fund, retired a week before he was indicted to a nice pension. Then receives a slap on the wrist after his guilty plea. Justice?????
The general order on Glocks, Springfields, and other new guns has been scrapped. They were deemed too unsafe for street use by CPD.
If the current directives stay in place, then their is nothing to fear from the new OPS configuration. If they give you Administrative rights, nothing can be used in some future criminal trial. The problem will emerge if they start giving you criminal rights. Then you absolutely take the fifth and clam up.
The supoena or summons issue is a mere technicality. You can not be ordered to appear before any department or agency outside the Department. Thus, they will use the summons process to get you there or order a report from you.
As to contractual provisions, when has that ever bothered the city or the FOP. Neither one cares about you. They only care about themselves. Good luck.
It seems that nothing will satisfy the attorneys who sue us until one of their own is appointed to keep the kachingos going. This is all about the money.

A playground scuffle between kids is an attack? I worked with that guy in the past and he is soft as puppy shit. Always had a hard time controlling himself. Seen it first hand.
There are other ways to deal with kids fighting kids without escalating it into something it does not need to be.
Hope for his sake he doesn't take MORE time on this one.
We should give a big round of applause to Chris Chopperhead and CBS 2 for their excellent coverage and video of exactly where our SWAT guys were positioned. Nothing like leveling the playing field only to have the media give away your tactical advantage by showing you all over the t.v. One of the higher ups at the scene or one of the guys monitoring at the FUSION center should have done something about that and it needs to be addressed for the future. The media put Chicago Police Officers at risk by giving away their positions. Hope someone does something about it before they get one of our guys killed.

#2 You better study the model. The officers under fire did not know if any citizens remained in the house. We cannot shoot randomly at a door or window. We need to clearly see the bad guy. This bad guy must have seen the cop movies you two never watched. He did not shoot from the window, but from away from the window, inside the room, not exposing himself. There was no clear target. You cannot speak for the Dets. All on the scene were amazed that after 30 rounds shot by the bad guy, no PO or citizen was hit.

I have known S.G. for approx. 15 years, went to the academy together then I worked for him when he was a Lt. Why would the State's Attorney hold a press conference at the federal building?
Everyone else indited were indited by a Cook county grand jury.
All it is a local investigation.
The news clip on the "victim" from the shooting in 010 got me so pissed!!! I need to stop watching the news, "officers sustained minor injuries" I'm glad the media views being shot as a minor injury.
I was on-scene that night and know both of the officers that shithead shot. F*ck him, he shouldn't be alive it's really a shame that these animals can survive 20+ hits. I'm sure most of you already know, but everything out of his mouth was a fucking lie, I just truly hope the jury sees that.

You are so right! It started as a minor traffic incident. A sgt was brushed by the car as it sped away. Then it was peppered with bullets by just about every copper along Roosevelt road. It was like a gauntlet. The coppers were wrong period. I was there. The coppers were lucky they were never charged.

The 11 year old "angel" who was 5'4" 100lbs, went up to a 4foot tall 50lb 8 year old and his 60lb 10 year old friend "SOLEY" because they were white. It was NOT a playground squabble! The black boy approached the two white children and called them "white trash" "bitches" and threatened to kick their ass. There had been no previous interaction between the children. In fact, they had never seen each other before. The white kids were intimidated because the black kid was bigger and tried to walk away. The black kid lunged at the smaller boy (the Det's son) and pushed his friend. The boys ran, being chased by the black child and attempted to get into the locked church, then ran up to a neighbor until the black boy walked away. The two white children ran home crying and terrified and told the det. The Det. returned to get his 10 yr old daughter and her 10 yr. old friend who were both threatened by the black boys 13 yr old 5'5" 140lb. sister who stated "I'll knock you out with one punch bitch, we fight with knives and lighters over her at our school". The Det. exited the car, showed his badge, identified himself as the police and was going to tell the kids not to talk to each other if they can't get along. The black boy ran and the Det. gave chase. The child slipped on the grass and the Det. held on to him. The kid fought and stomped on the det. who called 911. The 13 yr old sister kicked the phone from the detectives had and kicked and struck the det. screaming "I'll kill you bitch". The neighbors on the scene refused to help and the det. held onto the children in a bear hug for the police. The 022 district black females who arrived on the scene refused to take the children into custody after being told by the det. that they were under arrest and only wanted to get the false stories of the black "witnesses" who hadn't witnessed anything. An off duty Sgt. arrived on the scene and ordered the officers to place the offenders into custody. Once again they refused. The Sgt. ordered an outside unit to call for a Sgt. who arrived and had to order 2241(2 f/1's) to place the female under arrest. An on duty detective struggled with the 11 yr old to place cuffs on him. The mother was not restrained and as the 13 yr old was being placed in the squad car, she lunged at both off-duty officers. There was even an off duty Cook Co Sheriffs Police on the scene. The f/1 officers put both offenders in the same car and wouldnt talk to witnesses on the side of the officer. The Capt. in 022 interviewed the 2 small children who were victims seperately and got identical stories. He tried his best to establish the incident was a result of a "playground squabble", but it was obviously a plain and simple hate crime. Charges weren't sought for agg batt to p.o. even though the det. received abrasions. The arrest reports reflect no injuries on either offender. The Capt. refused to pursue strong armed robbery and agg assault charges against the female offender even after the det. asked to pursue charges. There was also no CR on the officers who refused police action, took an inordinate amount of time to respond ("the streets are confusing around here" 2241), and refused the direct order of a Sgt. Whatever your opinion of the Det. involved is, he acted completely in accordance with the rules and regulations of the cpd and was protecting not only his own children, but others in the neighborhood. There have been more and more racially motivated incidents in the North Beverly neighborhood, especially at that park, that have been swept under the carpet. Noone lives in Beverly in harmony, the whites live either in fear or denial. The first statement the offenders mother made was that she saw that policeofficer beat up the bartender on tv. She saw a payday and let her kids act like animals. The boy lives 2 blocks from that school but doesn't go there like his sister does. Why is that? Did he get thrown out? Even in his tv interview, he said yeah he beat me up "like she said". Was he being coached? Let's stick together and try to keep each other, our kids, and our neighborhoods safe from this B.S. and hate mongers like Mary Mitchell. Her articles changed considerably in 2 days. And for the DCFS working mother, and the "independent witness" who works for the CPS, they should lose thier jobs for lying! As for living in the Beverly neighborhood, as beautiful as it is, I wouldn't recommend it either.

Hey nitwit, got bad news for you D/C S.G. of 018 is no relation to Mara Georges of the Corp. Counsel. She isn't his clout and even if she were what's it to you? I have known S.G. for approx. 15 years, went to the academy together then I worked for him when he was a Lt. The only reason you don't like him is because he knows what he is doing, does it well and expects everyone around him to do their jobs to the best of their abilities. He is in the spot he is in because he can get the job done. As far as him being arrogant and thinking he deserves his rank, he isn't...he is confident in his abilities and as far as deserving it...he does. Now go crack an order or two, take the next test and see how well you do brainiac. Maybe you could be a Commander too some day......NOT!!
