What a Mope
Daley has GOT to love having this goof around to take all the heat off him and his shenanigans:
- Facing criticism from both parties, Gov. Blagojevich went before skeptical House members today to make a last-ditch appeal for his proposed $7.6 billion gross receipts business tax and warned of “devastating” budget cuts if the plan isn't passed.
“We can do this and do big things for the people of our state, or we can sit back and do nothing,” Blagojevich told the full Illinois House.
$7.6 billion in new taxes on businesses that businesses are just going to pass along. And where will all this new tax money go?
- “Schoolteachers will have to be laid off because school districts won’t have the money they need to be able to fund our schools. New textbooks won’t come because the school districts won’t have the money they need. Football teams might not get the uniforms at their high school football games because we don’t have the money we ought to have for our schools.”
Oh yes, the schools. Rod? Successive governors have been throwing money at the teacher unions for years and we still haven't seen commensurate increases in test scores, graduation rates, literacy achievement, etc. Paraphrasing Reagan, this state isn't in trouble because taxes are too low - it's in trouble because it spends too much on fixed political games, crooked contracts, insane golden parachutes for certain political animals and an entire litany of failed social programs. This ought to fail, and fail badly.

Hey Johnny Haircut,
Why don't you lead by example and tighten the belt and make cuts instead of raising taxes?
Godforbid you spend less than $400 to groom your pompadour.
Ass.
Hey Roddo, it's a bad sign when even your fellow Democrats won't back your insane tax proposal.
Keep trying to drive businesses out of Illinois. I am sure Wisconsin and Indiana would GLADLY take the tens of thousands of jobs and HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS that will come with them.
Who in the fuck is your economic advisor?!
Come on Gov. Lets sign that H.R.1022. The time is now for common sense gun laws.
bloggo is a dick with ears
The lottery was supposed to fix the school funding problem decades ago, people who play the lottery do it religiously so where does the money go? Straight into the general fund where it gets spent on your socialist programs to keep welfare babies on the govornment tit,but Blago wont touch the programs will he?. Now Blago wants to raise business taxes claiming they aren't paying their fair share, well who pays taxes,me and you not businesses.Taxes just get passed on to the consumer. How do you feel about re-electing this socialist now?
Watch out for Blago sneaking through an amendment making our pensions taxible.
Thanks for voting Democratic.
common sense gun laws?
we have plenty of gun laws now on the books and the criminals just keep on ignoring them like they do most laws. instead of failed GUN control lets try BAD PEOPLE control.
oh yeah, that would reqire declaring certain people bad and you liberals have no stomach for that. far easyer to just dissarm the law abiding and just feel good, man.
hey 8:29 ..... i want you personally to come for my guns, asshole!
Great idea, lay off more teachers. Our kids have it bad enough. Let's deprive them of the very basics in order to ensure their futures. Bravo Bluto.
good job roddy get business to leave then you and your thief wife can let more illegals in and no more money to pay out for all the free shit YOU give them! Is daddy mel going along this hairbrained sceam?
This is the greatest political move in hitory...
He just got others to do his dirty work and he comes out looking smelling like a rose.
Thinkabout it. There will be "cutbacks" just like Stroger's. It will cost vital line workers their jobs but the highly paid administrators will still have their handouts. No pork will be cut. And sooner or later there will be a tax increase.
He just got out of all three. He can now say, "I tried to pass a bill that made BIG businesses foot these bills but YOUR other elected representatives voted it down. This is all their fault.
What happened to the indictments that were hanging over Blago's head before the election.
Idea to gain more money for the state;Sell off the governor mansion. He can stay at a nice Holiday Inn when he goes down state. Him and his family do not live there. It would rent as a nice B&B. His wife is in real estate and could have the deal to sell it and other property not being used. Also charge the Revs for use of the state airplanes.
"Thanks for voting Democratic.
