Cardinal Smacks Pfleger
Cardinal Francis George has taken an unusual step: issuing a statement about the Archdiocese of Chicago’s activist priest, the Rev. Michael Pfleger, for comments he made at an anti-gun rally.
It is the latest episode in longstanding tensions between George and Pfleger, who have clashed over everything from doctrine to politics.
And rest assured, if Pfleger steps out of line again, the Cardinal will issue ANOTHER strongly worded memo. It's just like the United Nations. A blizzard of paper and memos and denunciations. And nothing changes.

When the catholic church moves to kick him out of the church, can he hide inside of his own church so they can't kick him out like the Hispanic woman on the West side???
Does he still drive the newer Infiniti and smoke cigaretttes when he is driving???? Who paid for that car and does he still have his name on the license plates???

the catholic church is a business heavily weighted in real estate.
IF they practiced what they preached you would have 5 kids like your grandad or be excommunicated for use of birth control. they want your money so they relax (compromise) their standards. want a divorce??? no problem 7 hail marys and a fat envelope. might as well just go to the house of hope.....at least you can get promoted out of there.

No he is not close has he gotten anyone promoted? Why does the cardinal have a police officer detailed to his mansion? the catholic church has billions of dollars why not hire private security?

As I told you in a previous thread. For all of you Notre Dame and Bears fans, Chris Zorich and the Christopher Zorich foundation are big contributers to Father Pfleger and St. Sabina.
An ex-priest told me that the George would love to move Pfleger to another parish, but he can't because of the protests it would cause at his current parish, and the Church has enough problems on its hands. Because of this, the cardinal wants to, as a matter of policy, move pastors every few years so they can't obtain the kind of power that Pfleger has. It kind of reminds of DCs that can't move certain downtown foot guys because the businesses they take care of will protest too much.
Infiniti...never mind that, does he still have a CPD Detached Services body guard, with a city car.
If anyone sees this guy out there, with a body guard, and a city car, try to get a photo. Maybe the bodyguard can be identified and we can get the plate number.
SCC can publish the photo here, and maybe on the front page of the Trib or Times.

Pfleger has his moments of pure stupidity. Most of us do.
However, if you look what he has done with that Parish he has done more good than bad.
I certainly don't want to be judged solely by all the dumb shit I have said or done. I would also like the good to be looked at.
He also was allowed to speak at the funeral for Coretta Scott King. "Reverend" Jackson was relegated to sitting quietly in the pews and did not speak.

must be nice bodyguard detail like the rest! why does anyone of these clowns need bodygurads! From the mayor to the treasurer to ald burke and more what a waste of millions hey guys with all your fortunes hire your own guards we need more officers on the streets the working man does not have protection why do you get it?
Pflegers plate is "Oh God!"
He has NO bodyguard, period. He used to drive himself before he was injured.
He can move that idiot tommarrow, he got the goods on him with the little boys. Remeber the priest from the Soth side 15-20 years ago. He went. No one knows the cardinals reasoning on this one.
Pliger church is no way Catholic, it acts and runs like a W/S store front church on South Stony during services.
Cardinal George loves the Mexicans, the truth is they do not believe in dropping a cent.

This is Chicago. The only ones who get real disciplinary action are the non-clout police officers. Everyone else gets a pimp slap and a wink. We get indicted.
I have always wondered about the hatred that Fr. Pfleger engenders in the white community. I am a south side white guy, and I remember a few years back when there was that controversy about the basketball league. I think that the parents there had some realistic fears about driving to St. Sabina, as that area can be pretty bad at times (shootings every now and then and plenty of drugs). I also think that some of those parents didn't like the idea of getting whacked by the St. Sabina teams, but thats an old story. I do think though that who gives a rats ass about if he stays there? He is loved by his parishoners. That's what counts isn't it? The people that he ministers to want him there, and I think that that's what a church is supposed to be about. And you know what? That billboard stuff? He's right. The liquor and tobacco companies DO overadvertise in poor communities. They target the people there, and for a number of reasons, economic and sociological, the people in those areas purchase "harmful" (booze and smokes) products in fairly high numbers. I wonder what the reaction would be from catholic leaders in the more upscale communities if the advertising was done as prominently as it is in Pfleger's community, or other places like the west side and other areas of the south side. I am not a big fan of his style, but I don't go to his church and listen to his sermons. But, as I said, the members of that parish do go to the services, and like the way that he runs his program. That being the case, leave him alone and don't crucify him for that dumb thing he said about the guy that owns Chucks Gun shop. As someone else said, who's perfect?
Old timers will remember the beef old man Daley had with Cardianl Cody.
Cody was very liberal. He tould Cody "you save souls" and I "will take care of the ........."
Cody then did mind his own business when it came to his liberal attitude with certain folks.
