- This goof should have been fired years ago. Not only did she fail the shooting at the Academy, she failed the gym portion, too. She was failed by two different Patrol Specialists in the 010th District before a third passed her. Then she gets not one, but two DUI's, one involving her locked up in the burbs and lying to her WC about why she had gone on the medical. A third DUI she was never charged with was when she plowed her personal car into 833 on midnights and injured both officers on her own block (ask 008 people why she was never charged with destroying city property almost five years ago.) She calls herself "Detective" and had cards printed up because she tells everyone, "I'm a preliminary investigator." She took 30 for driving an offender to ATM machines to withdraw money to pay back a victim because she was too lazy to lock his ass up. Isn't that kidnapping and armed robbery like what the SOS guys are charged with? Her kid is a gang banging piece of shit pouring gas on cars and now she sics dogs on responding officers and refuses direct orders? Who the hell is this crazy woman's clout that she can act like this for 12 years? This is the poster child for political bullshit on this job!! Someone please tell us who has been covering her dumb ass behavior for over a decade now!!!!!!
We were going to ask the same thing. Everyone (well almost everyone) agrees that Abbate ought to be fired. The disagreement arises from the severity of the charging. The Jefferson Tap video is subject to all sorts of interpretations, again, the major disagreements coming from the disparity in charging. But then you have all of this alleged bad behavior, supposedly swept under the rug for over a decade, culminating in someone allegedly siccing dogs on fellow officers? What the hell is going on?

I remember the incident with the cash machine. She took some time and then Sgt. V from 2nd watch strong armed the watch into "donating" money for her cause, or else be denied time off, late lunches, etc. Don't know who her clout is, but it was sickening to see her walking around 010 the next day telling her side of what happened looking for sympathy. You don't fucking fight with the police or sic your dogs on them you stupid bitch.
I once heard from the FTO himself that passed her ( A great guy who has since retired) that one of the biggest mistakes of his career was passing that piece of garbage!! I think she knows someone higher than just this Sgt. Her rap sheet ONLY has this new charge on it, not any of the previous DUI's from before as they were totally removed from her record.

Officer Karen Mickow’s son was accused of pouring gasoline on a neighbor’s property during a dispute before 1 a.m. Saturday.
When officers arrived at her home in the 5700 block of South Moody to arrest the son, she allegedly told them to “get out.” The officers refused and Mickow released the dog, which charged at them, police said.
No one was injured.
Mickow was reassigned to desk duty. It was unclear Tuesday if the son was charged with a crime.

While I agree COMPLETELY with the sentiment expressed here, we need to step lightly with the suspended without pay till theres a hearing stuff. And remember, nothing would make me more happy than to see her walk out the door than sitting in callback fucking up reports. But the next time, it might be some copper who makes an honest mistake, who needs the hearing to get back to work, and will need his paycheck in the meantime.
But if I may go off a bit here, and off topic a touch, I think that anyone who pisses hot should be summarily dismissed. Piss hot you gone. Period. Next case. And save all the bullshit stories about the girlfriend put it in the cookies and on her private parts and it's really poppyseeds all the other nonsense that guys come up with. In my world, you piss hot it's adios. Prove you didn't. Now, that may be inconsistent with my earlier statement, but it's my fantasy, and I will run it like I want. And while I'm at it, I will form a unit to follow people around who are on the medical and IOD. I catch you working a part time job, YOU GONE. If I see you sitting out on the deck talking on the phone and reading the paper, you will be in the nearest district answering phones and reading reports or doing something.
And finally, all of you pooches who take 3 hours for ethics training and leads certification should be ashamed of yourselves. Not because the department says so, but because all you are doing is fucking over the officers who are being given extra jobs while you are screwing the pooch. In addition, some copper might need an assist while you are surfing the net. But then again, people who stay down on that type of shit don't help anyone anyway. So stay down, dog those jobs, and then go to the family party or the bar and tell everyone what a big badass policeman you are.

i know why it went bad. first of all 57th & moody is west of central ave. i'm sure chicago p.d. had to use map quest to find it. after that, they had to put their shoes back on and turn the t.v. off over at signature. it's amazing for the amount of police who live in this neighborhood that no police patrol the neighborhood. keep durkin park safe!

It'd be nice if they'd stick around a spend 10 minutes cranking out a report once in a while.
As this thread attests, patrol is getting overwhelmed with jobs. We're understaffed. I'm simply saying that the special units could help out their brother officers from time to tim.

I'm sure that the TACT team would help out of they could. The TACT team isn't what it used to be. Believe me I have friends on the team and really no one is happy. Now they have a new Sgt. (Spreyne) who knows nothing about TACT and is trying to be a boss ????WTF
