- Fearing complacency among the American people over possible terror threats, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said in Chicago Tuesday that the nation faces a heightened chance of an attack this summer.
"I believe we are entering a period this summer of increased risk," Chertoff told the Chicago Tribune's editorial board in an unusually blunt and frank assessment of America's terror threat level.
If we aren't mistaken, this is the same guy who was pushing for the illegal immigrant amnesty bill and runs the agency that can't secure the border and couldn't track the 13 million illegals who would leave the country and be allowed to return under a general amnesty.
At the same time, we agree that we've become complacent as a nation and lax in procedures. however, if we were an al-Queda big wig, we'd hold off on the attacks and let the media and the democrats keep up their relentless propaganda campaign to surrender. They can win without firing a shot.

It's just ass covering, like when Daley gets on television and warns everybody about a bad snowstorm coming. Then when the roads are unusable and the trains don't run and the whole fucking city grinds to a halt, Daley avoids all the tough questions by saying he warned us this could happen.
Chertoff is trying to pull the same thing in case something bad happens.
Surrender is an option. The U.S. could just surrender, lay down its arms and give in to world opinion. Just sit back and mind its own business.
Every day that passes with out a terrorist attack luls us into a further state of false security.

IMO- Secure the borders, and commence a plan to deal with the illegal immigration that has already taken place. Could a bunch of Middle-Eastern Terrorist hide in Pilsen and go un-noticed? Yes. Could African Terrorists hide on the West or South Sides? Yes.

Expect another big attempt or attack close to the 2008 presidential election or shortly after the next president takes office, regardless of the affiliated party.
It doesn't matter what happens in Iraq. That merely re-shapes the story. Meanwhile, al-Queda has operatives in other countries around the world, including some in Southeast Asia, and, unfortunately the good old U.S.A.

The US State Department advising all US citizens to vacate Lebanon and the Palestinian territories. Hamas and Hezbollah preparing for round two with Israel.
