- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton on Saturday criticized President Bush for not spending enough on law enforcement and said police officers were "invisible" to him.
Really? We must have missed that over the past few years when the President spent hours at the Police Memorial in Washington DC. How many times exactly did Bill show up with Hillary at the Memorial?
- Clinton chastised Bush for a 2008 budget that she said would further cut the Community Oriented Police Services program and other law enforcement initiatives.
Ah, this explains it. More CrAPS funding. "Preventative" policing instead of actual bodies on the street, driving in the communities, looking for crime and hassling minority drivers. Now we understand.

I will not vote for Hillary, but SCC be realistic about praising George Bush for praising the Police. The Clinton Administration was the same administration that put more police on the street. As you put it, " more bodies on the street". The police on the street have been declining ever since Bush took office. Don't fall for the old smoke and mirrors approach. Sure Bush may be at the memorial services, but does he actually care about putting more police on the street. I guess we will just have to wait and see if he adds more police to the streets before 2-1-09.

Was it a full moon yesterday? Yesterday, Sat. 04 Aug. we raced from one job to another. With the current manpower at the district level,working the beat and/or district is beyond the dangerous level. I lost count on how many times the zone didn't have the back up to send an officer or had to hold jobs because there was no one to send.
I know this is falling on deaf ears, still could someone look,actually look, at the where the manpower is being allocated and wasted? Wait, you already know the answer to that,so could you just send us the bodies that are being hidden, and then come winter you can have em back so they can stay warm in their offices/cubicles and play on the internet.
Please give us some help at the district level, doing basic police work, which means answering calls for service.
Clear out these offices and replace healthy officers with those on lite duty. This is a no brainer. No healthy, sworn, gun carrying officer should be at an inside post in these days of rage, unless he or she has 3 doctorates and no one is remotely qualified to do their job. What job could be that important?
Could somebody downtown look into why on a busy Sat. the computers shut down? Oh I forgot, damn, we lead the star system in technology.
Could someone stop the b.s. associated with a shoplifter case? A shoplifter used to take maybe 45 min. to an hour to process. Now, it's a major case. This is absurd. It should be treated as a simple theft period as it used to be. Do the upgrade in court if you must.
Didn't Clinton subsidize city hiring back in the late 90's, causing increased hiring and more bodies on the streets of Chicago? What has Bush tried to do to increase city hiring?
Hillary Clinton does not like the police. Like 8/05/2007 05:07:00A.M., I was also on a detail when the Secret Service asked us to move because Hillary does not like to be seen around us. A couple of the Secret service agents on the detail told us flat out that she does not like the police or law enforcement types. I was told later that part of the reason was that the Arkansas State Police on Clinton's body guard detail when he was governor of that great state used to pimp for him, and Hillary resented it.

I had a detail at OHare Airport when the Clinton's and the Gore's were in office. We were standing there waiting for them to arrive and I started talking to a Secret Service Agent who had 31 1/2 yrs. on the job and was ready for retirement. He told me that the Cinton's and the Gore's were the most obnoxious, arrogant and ignorant President and Vice President, including the wives, that he ever had to cover. This fund has collected millions. and a large amount is not being accounted for? stop giving boys and girls and yes Cline will be payed. Such as Maggie Daley is in charge of a non profit she was paid over 350 thousand last year.

However the CPD is the only department that gives back 20% of their budget every year.The reason the city has a large budget for CPD is that the public won't pitch on spending for safety, yet when the city gets the 20% back they spend it on corruption. truth be told
All I know is! The real Police have left the building.

The funding would stop at that time and the municipality would then have to pick up the tab for those newly hired police officers. Most small town police departments turned down this funding. The funding bill did not allow them to use the proposed money in any other way.
I was on scene in 023 for that attempt Sexual Assault, when the Lt. stopped the Tact. car from touring the area with victim and made them write the case report while the beat car assigned was told to clear.
The money is given to the cities in a different fashion under terrorism which the city uses for planters. They provide more money and its not for caps.

I got news for those of you who think that only 008, 016 and 022 are the "livable" parts of the City. 021, parts of 009,006, 003, 002, 001, 013, 014, parts of 015 (yes,015), 017, parts of 018, parts of 019, 020 and 024 are all "LIVABLE." Now, if you're one of those cops that doesn't feel comfortable residing around some people who may not be white, or Christian, then you have other issues that have NOTHING to do with residency.

Listen you guys, it's NOT the presidents (any presidents) job to hire more or less police, it's all local based on need and taxes available. I think the president has more important things to worry about. I was at a Cubs game last week and its like the WEST SIDE down there. I parked by Taco bell and there were 20-30 West siders trying to buy or sell tickets on the street. I walked my sons to the front entrance and on the way there we went through a congo line of West siders asking for change or asking for donations for some bullshit baseball field he said they are trying to build on the Southside. These kids were strong arming a bunch of these yuppies and senior citizen fans. Then during the game I noticed the cotton candy vendor wearing his Gangster Disciple hat cocked to the side and his pant leg up and it pissed me off that nobody else noticed this shit. Finally the game was over and I thought well at least thats over but I was incorrect, there must have been(no kidding) 8 or 9 different groups of the BUCKET BOYS blocking the streets and making a bunch of fucking noise and the cops just let them do it. What the fuck is the Commander of 023 doing? Does he ever come off of Halsted or does he just leave all of that with the Cubs game detail from special events to worry about? What ever the answer, somebody should get off their ass and check all the permits these kids have dangling from their necks because you don't just get handed a permit. Clinton promised 10,000 more police nationwide (not really that many). He delivered less than 200 nationwide. Police would seem to be a state's rights issue. If all of the watch commanders did their jobs, and actually looked their people over at the roll calls, the Inspectors wouldn't have much to write up in the stations. Too many of the bosses want to ignore the obvious violations, rather than address them quickly & professionally.

It’s very simple my so called “independent” friend, no one wants war, but this is a war we did not ask for, nor can we walk away from it or hide from it. Our past administrations (Bush 41 & Clinton 42) have failed to act on other terror attacks starting from the late 80’s until 9/11. There is factual documentation to support this. Al-Qaeda roots can be traced back to Osama bin Laden and others around the time of the Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan in 1989.
You start off on this SCC web site, by disrespecting our man and women serving in this war, home and abroad who are freely serving for your very freedom to have that right to make those comments.
When you are given one simple fact and source of who said it, on the Iraq involvement with Al-Qaeda that you questioned. My friend, you just come back with, “…this war is wrong…” how about a fact-based argument rather then another boring non-factual come back. Please don’t hide from the war issues and try to talk about another topic like illegal Mexicans because you were given a true fact that has proven your comment wrong and incorrect.
