Missing the Simple Solution
The results are in from a yearlong effort to figure out how to make women and girls in Illinois safer. The report from the Chicago Foundation for Women has recommendations and what it's calling "action steps."
When you ask people for input on how to end violence, their answers run the gamut.- "Better laws, courtrooms to listen to the women, the police to listen to the women," said Kathy Fabre, Chicago.
- "I think it will take stricter penalties against people who commit those crimes," said Jerome Elver of Joliet.
- "More women coming forth and not allowing the abuse to continue," said trevona Smith, Oak Park.
- "Society has to change first of all. Family values are down that's why these things are going on," said Syed Mohiuddin, Chicago.
"Uh, I tell you, men are gonna have to wise up a lot," said Jim Watson of Indiana.
No one knows the answers better than organizers of "What Will It Take?" an anti-violence campaign at the Chicago Foundation for Women.

I vote for concealed carry.
How about letting the women carry small handguns that would really stem the crimes! the alderclowns are all armed why not the women?

The gun is the equalizer!
Puts us women on the same playing field with the predator
and gives us a fighting chance!
For all you women who are going to go out an git yourself a nice lead spitter, please, please get some lessons, in safety and accuracy! For your sake and your families. All the ranges offer trainers. You don't need 15 rounds you just need one neatly placed bullet.
Luv ya all and all you men who luv us too! Your sister from another mother :)
Keep Abbate off the street?
when is the next court date so I know
not to watch T.V.? It was like watching a "GODZILLA" movie over and over with him stumbling around
most women are abused by someone they know, and how often is alcohol involved?
if they let the offender(husband or bf) in their house, what are the chances that the women will get a chance to use a weapon?
I don't understand you gun-happy people. Why do you want to flood the streets with more lethal weapons? Every extra gun is an extra chance to kill yourselves or someone else, either on purpose or accidentally.
Violence is so much more complicated than "everybody get a gun!"

Wrong, have you read Dr. Lott's book "More Guns Less Crime". I want someone who is threatening someone's life to be killed---no recidivism then.
