The Riddle of Pat and John

After being owned by a reader of ours under the pen name of Edward Nigma (The Riddler of Batman fame - E. Nigma), the "official website of the Chicago Police Department" attempted to save face by berating SCC for being a bunch of malcontents hiding behind anonymous web sites.

Edward Nigma has now reappeared in the comments section of their website (no, we won't link to it) under his newest pseudonym:
  • Why aren't we getting newer equipment?
Is it really too much to ask? I mean
This is supposed to be the "most advanced"
Site (dept) in the country! And yet we
Still have problems! Is L.E.A.D.S. ever
    Up?
  • Posted by: Reed M. Downn
And once again, they missed it completely and have left it up there for more than a few weeks. They've also had the media label them the "widely ignored official rival to SCC."

That's going to leave a mark.

See the link above about how our gun turn-in program got owned.

"Given that Chicago Police reportedly now receive one vacation day and a $300 bonus on their paychecks for each gun they confiscate, I was very cautious."

Where the hell did they get this idea or has something changed that I didn't know about?

Great article on Illinoiscarry.com website, about the city of chicago "gun buyback program".

I ranted bigtime on SCC during the gun turn in, about what a joke it is. It was my thought then that gang-bangers would turn in junk to get gift cards to buy better guns.

It seems I was sort of right. An NRA guy who runs a shooting camp for kids turned in $50.00 worth of scrap metal in the form of 17 guns (actually 16 + 1 starter pistol) and got $1700.00 worth of gift cards. He came from outside of chicago, and cook county to boot. Seems he drove all the way from small town, Indiana.

Good for him!

The socialist republic of chicago deserves to lose money for being so stupid and ill advised by the leftist leaders here!

I've been with the CPD for over 30 years and my other job allows me to travel and talk to a lot of cops from other cities. Our force is probably the most backward of all cities (except the Big Easy). The only time we get any equipment is when the G gives us a grant, then we waste it by getting 2nd rate junk pawned off on us by some lowlife working in city hall. Heaven forbid that a PO should suggest anything new, or find better equipment, that suggestion either gets tossed, or a boss takes credit for it.

I was in court talking to a uniformed U.S. Postal Police officer a while back (who assisted me with an on-view arrest when I was working 10-99).

He mentioned that he arrested a subject for UUW on postal property and that the weapon was turned over to a postal inspector (supervisor) who inventoried it and was given a cash bonus. I was like "did you get anything?" He mentioned a complimentary letter in his personnel file, but said basically "No, nothing!"

He then explained how the suits (inspectors) get all the cash bonuses and rewards, while the uniformed guys get squat.

Is that fucked up or what?

If all the bosses, hangerson, and other sorts of in house ass kissers really are so important that that MUST have a car to take home, how about making them ALL drive marked cars?

Not a bad idea but it can NEVER happen. Because they might get stopped and asked to provide some police service!

Then what! Most, having NEVER been the police would wet their pants.

BTW, Dana, just how many cars are you gonna supply your girlfriends?
It's really getting out of hand. UNDERCOVER cars for the bosses girlfriends. Nice. But a shortage of undercover cars for the undercover police. DUMB, DUNB, DUMB. DEMOCRAT.
