Who Reports This Crap?

  • Years after the deadly stampede at the E2 Nightclub, the owners are accusing the city of misconduct.

[...], a lawsuit claims Chicago police or other city employees stole more than $100,000 in cash and liquor from the club.

"We know the liquor didn't evaporate, and we know the dollars didn't just dissipate," club co-owner Calvin Hollins, Jr. said

According to lawyers for Hollins, Jr. and his business partner Dwain Kyles, video from inside E2 was taken within 48 hours of the tragedy showing two well-stocked bars, liquor the owners say later vanished, along with substantial cash during the months the building was under city control.

"I know for a fact there was $20,000 in the office, cash. I have 2 witnesses to that observation," Hollins, Jr. said.
First up, these goofs were operating an illegal nightclub and it's a damn shame 21 people died and none of these jackasses is in prison. That being said, there were hundreds of other persons in that club after it was shut down - building inspectors, insurance adjusters, court people, the list is damn near endless. To have the media lay it at the feet of the police in their headline is just asinine.

Please call the union and your aldercreature.

The proposed tax hike by Mayor Daley will affect police officers (also city workers) more than most other residents.

It has been previously reported that police officers (city workers) mostly live in three districts: 016, 008 and 022. These districts are in townships in which the assessed values were significantly increased in 2006 and this new valuation will take effect on the 2nd Installment tax bill of 2007. Just wait until this current tax bill (usually issued in September) is released. Why hasn't the tax bill been released? Based solely on the assessed values being increased, the amount that we pay for property taxes will increase on an average of $960.00 per house, per year in these townships.

Now, the Mayor wants to increase our property tax rate. It was reported
that if you own a $240,000 house that your taxes would go up $100.00 per
month. THIS DOES NOT include the increase that we will see on this tax
bill.

So, if you house is valued around $360,000, which is exceptionally low in
these areas, your taxes will increase $80 for the assessed value being
increased and $150.00 for the new tax rate; therefore, police officers can PLAN ON PAYING AN ADDITIONAL $230.00 PER MONTH ON YOUR PROPERTY TAXES. And, we are only asking for a 4% increase in our pay per year? 4% of $70,000 is $233.33 per month before taxes, union dues, pension, and health deductions. If we only get around 4,5,6 % raise per year, we will actually lose money.

Just state the facts, ma'am:

According to Fox news, the E2 nightclub was placed under police control for a time period after the incident.

Film footage taken the morning after the incident clearly shows a fully-stocked bar.

When police control of E2 was relinquished, all of the liquor was gone from the premises, including boxes in storage.

So, either:

1. Fox News has the timeline wrong.

or

2. Some unscrupulous cops stole all the liquor.

or

3. Burglars broke in and stole the liquor from under the noses of the cops while E2 was under lockdown.

or

4. E2 owners 'stole' their own liquor, from under the cops noses.

Ask: "who benefits?"

You make the call.

I would not be one bit surprised that even a legitimate business like this making $1000/week profits would have $20k in the safe.

Just because they have cash does not make them criminal.

What I had read was that the cash supposedly disappeared while the crime scene was under the control of the CPD. If so, the CPD has at least some responsibility for safeguarding the private property under its control (presuming the property was actually there in the first place). Whether the owners of the property are tax evaders is not relevant.

By the way, all you young coppers out there, rent that movie ABOUT LAST NIGHT. Its a great comedy/love story filmed in Chicago. Has a lot of great shots of Chicago from the 1980's that are now gone or rebuilt. I worked the movie on the CPD movie detail when they were filming it. The cast as well as the crew were great to all the cops as usual. And Demi Moore was hot in this flick and in person. A true beauty.

A Secret Service agent once told me this story about President Ronald Reagan. This agent was assigned to the presidential detail.

Reagan was deep in thought about an upcoming decision in regards to a military action that needed to be done.

The agent saw the President looking out the rose garden window in what looked like a trance.

The agent asked the President, Is everything OK?

The President looked at the agent and said yes and thank you for checking on him. Reagan continued on about how he was thinking about using the armed forces for a military attack and was deep in thought about the safety and welfare of the solders that would be involved.

The agent tells the President, wow that is a tough decision and not sure how the President makes such tough decisions.

The President turns and looks the agent right in the eyes and says, well I was thinking what would John Wayne do in this situation.

The agent swears the President was as serious as a President can be. The President then chuckles a little and puts his arm on the agent's shoulder and says, Well what the heck, John Wayne always seemed to make the right decision, seemed like the right person to turn to in an effort to figure this one out.

TRUE STORY based on the agent's words.

* In June 1976, the CPD started a large, slow moving F4 tornado that ripped off the roof of the Argonne Nat'l Lab housing a nuclear reactor and dumping large hail over the region.

I know that you don't want to touch this with a ten foot pole, but did anyone else see that one of the "wrongly accused" Jena 6 is going back to jail for 180 days for violating his probation from a previous CONVICTION. What a joke-typical.

OK I guess the cats out of the bag. We might as well fess up to all the things that are the fault of the CPD.
1.Yes, there were 2 CPD officers in on the grassy knoll who shot JFK while riding in an open car in Dallas.
2. CPD operatives blew up the Challenger space shuttle in 1986. (It was to get Christy McCauliff to admint to the JFK shooting)
3 The CPD Marine Unit sank the Eastland with a secret torpedo
5.CPD was able to get Scooter Libby to lie to the Feds.
5. CPD Put up the Berlin Wall
6.CPD officers kicked over a lantern in Mrs. o'Leary's barn and started the Chicago Fire.
7. CPD Marine unit started the Tsunami that killed 250,000 people in Asia
8 Hurricane Katrina was caused by the CPD
9.CPD started the Skull and Bones society at yale
10. CPD Burned Joan of Arc at the stake.
11.The Enola Gay was the really a CPD B-29
12.CPD sank the Titanic
13. The CPD assisnated Arch Duke Ferdinand and started World War I
14. CPD created the Barbie doll
15. CPD confiscated all the Donner parties food
16.The number one cause of Global Warming is the CPD

Two panelists on Chicago Tonight on Channel 11 seemed to feel it was a "ploy" on the part of the E2 owners as part of an insurance claim. Lester Munson, who is a sportswriter and attorney, suggested that the E2 attorneys were behind it.

So endeth the lesson. Always look for an attorney behind anything like this.

I agree with with the post regarding TRU guys being like 9th district guys. There are some very good officers in TRU and in 009. But there are also a tremendous amount of walking penises. Thank you. I'll hang up and listen for your response.

You guys (and gals) hate everthing they write and say about you in the media but come on. Read the stuff you say about each other. So what we stole $60K and 45K in booze. That's nothing compared to the politicians with their campaighn money. Didn't you see Daley's $100K list in the Sun-Times. Each of you need to register as a canidate then you could take campaighn contributions from the people you come in contact with. It would no longer be bribery. You could then afford to live in the city, drive nice autos, etc. etc......

How bout the "phony mistake" the prosecuter made during opening statements that got the criminal charges thrown out? Typical chicago
corruption: jesse made the call and poof; it all disappears.
Why dont any of u ground breaking
reporters pick up on that?

No, unfortunately, that Deputy Corporation Counsel REALLY was that stupid. She had no business even being on the case.

Hoping for some kind of buyout, have 8 more to 29/day. I don't think I can last that long.
God bless this city, county state and department. It's a fast-sinking ship and I am considering moving out of state.

Somebody explain this:
On 19 November 2006 I was involved in an accident, myself and the other guy had everything that was required (license,Insurance). The other guy's insurance refused to pay. I get a letter from State Farm asking my permission for them to fight for my deductible along with the damages for my car, about $5000.00. Today, I get a letter from State Farm with a check for my deductible and a big thank you. Why is it that an insurance company can get a law firm to fight for a small amount like this but the city say's its too expensive to fight these multi-million lawsuits and opts to just pay them?

Because it ain't comin' out of their pocket. The taxpayers pay.
We ought to have a tax revolt in this country. Stop payment on all withholding until politicians understand that it's not their money, it's ours. What a fucking message that would send.
