The Office of Professional Standards, which investigates shootings by Chicago Police officers, is taking over the job.
According to the Better Government Association website, the Orange One is pulling down $118,260 per year while Monique Bond gets $122,844 for telling the media that Contact Cards are "warning tickets."

Hmmmm..a good lawyer would have to ask, if the organizers had plenty of water on hand, why would an officer have to take it upon himself to get water for the runners? This is an official certified city blog and their giving evidence of the water supply being low. Just keep telling folks, contact cards are like "warning tickets", hysterical.
There will be a reunion for retired personnel who worked in Area 2 over the years, including Area 2 Property Crimes & Violent Crimes; also Area 2 Youth Division; Area 2 auto theft, burglary, general assignments, homicide and robbery.
The reunion is thursday, November 15th @ noon. The location is Bourbon Street at 115th & Kedzie Avenue in Merrionette Park.

Saw on the news that ops will now immediately report to the scene of a police involved shooting to interview witnesses. Does this mean they get first crack at these interviews before the detectives are allowed to speak to the witnesses? Aren't the dicks in charge of the crime scene and all witnesses? OPS handling a shooting investigation, we are all in trouble. I know form experience that talking to most OPS investigators is like talking to a little kid. First they they talk to citizens then witnesses then their boss and it is after this they come to their conclusion. They are a bunch of followers not free thinking individuals that have any idea what it is to be the police. They do not know what it is to be working at 3:00am responding to a call of a man with a gun, as you arrive you see an individual who has no fear of the police. Quiclky you exit your vehicle and give chase, oh I forgot to say you are alone because as anyone who works 1st watch knows seldom are there 10-4 units. Now as you chase this individual he decides to turn around and point his gun at you, you, fearing for your life shoot in his direction striking him resulting in his death, good shooting good job. OPS talks to and will always find someone who saw it differently, you the police officer shot him for no reason, he never had a gun he never pointed it at you he was running because the police always harass him. Does everyone see where this is going, not only can you lose your job for doing the wrong thing you now can lose your job for doing the right thing. Next time a student is killed by gunfire someone should tell the mayor it is because the city is dangerous, and he needs to forget about the Olympics and start worrying about something that really matters. His allowing OPS to investigate police shootings simply tells us all that he has no faith in his own Police Department. I think that if OPS is going to investigate all police shootings we may as well eliminate the entire Detective Division. If the Mayor thinks they are qualified to investigat shootings then they should be qualified to investigate and solve other crimes. This job is not what it used to be it has become everyone for themself, stay safe and keep your job.

Here is what bothers me, the head of OPSS said that OPS investigators would be on the scene collecting evidence and speaking to witnesses. What the f**k? Please tell me this is just spin. Please tell me the Department isn't going along with this. It sounds like in police shootings they have forgotten that the P.O. is a victim not an offender. I have also met Bond a few times. She is also a nice person. I guess it is easy to slam people you have never met. They speak for the Superintendent, not us.
I guess the guys who come on here and brag about not doing any work or just being dogs and collecting a paycheck deserve any more respect than these two.

I once saw Camden in all his glory at an awards ceremony at the State Of Illinois Building. He nearly knocked over an injured PO [on crutches no less] in his rush to get to the bosses. A George Hamilton wana-be who would pimp his mother to get on camera. Fuck him!
I know Pat C. He's a great guy. When relaying information to the media, he gives the police and any investigation regarding the police, the benefit of the doubt. He is careful what he says to media as he is aware that when we're involved in a shooting, it's no doubt the dept and media that treat us like we're guilty until proven innocent.

The only differences I see is that their investigators will respond to the scene when before they only went to the area. Now I know they will talk to the bystanders who going to give "their" version that they witnessed while three blocks away in the bathtub.

when I was sent to ARS aka call back, I was told to settle in. I did not understand what I was being told. After being there sometime now it is all clear to me now. I have seen police officers who are stripped sitting for sometime now! I mean years! I am not complaining, no, just wondering how the system works? Do the bosses sit around in IAD and say yes, this guy is guilty or no this guy is guilty, but has a good phone call? Will their ever be a level playing field for the working cop across the board?

Just seek out and ask Sgt.J. Brieman - by now he should've been fired. But he's been bragging that he doing his stint at call back until what he did was all forgotten, the victim payed off, and then they put him back in a district.

OPS started coming out to the scenes of police shootings about 1999 or so, so this really isn't a new idea in any way... the practice may have fallen off, but - I can't remember who was heading up OPS, for a short while, but they started doing that. It wasn't a hindrance to the dicks that I could see at the time...
My point is THIS IS AN OLD IDEA... nothing new.

Are there any confirmed instances where a department under a consent decree has had their collective bargaining agreement voided? Or is this all just paranoia. With all due respect...I've seen Jewish guys on this job that have problems. First of all their families consider them failures for coming on this idiot job!!

Monique is dating Deputy Chief Michael Shields, so that shows you she does love the police, though he is using her to get ahead or more specifically, keep his job.
I personally think she is doing a good job, I just would rather see Pat Camden as the head. He was doing a great job before and knows police procedure, the law and the orders needed to intelligently answer questions.
If you had 5 days on the street you would know Monique Bond doesn't know her ass from a hole in the ground. Never met her, but I'm sure shes nice as can be.
