Can this be true?
- On Zone 10 on Friday, 07 December, 20 sector car was told by dispatch that the pod watchers had spotted a number of parking violators in the vicinity of Marshall High School. We're using tens of million of dollars to place cameras that can spot parking violations in the ghetto.
How much was that tax hike again?
We guess if you need the money that badly, the pod watchers could use their "eye-in-the-sky" powers to write a parking ticket and mail it to the offender. The city that works.

Well I guess those cameras are used to thwart crime no matter how small or another way to use those cameras is to generate revenue.
A couple of parkers multiplied by $50 adds up after a while. Justifys those pod watcher jobs
Oh yeah, it's really out of control...had one a while back where they KEPT CALLING out the description of a......drinker. Unreal. Must have called 3 or 4 times, letting us know that he went eastbound, or whatver. Seriously. Stop watching the pod, put on the vest, get into a BEAT car already. If the cameras are recording all the time anyway, can't we just pull up what we need? A DRINKER? GOOD LORD!

Pods are the biggest wastes of money going on! They need to write more parkers just to break even on the damn pods. Nobody watches them, if you do try, they move so slow due to the piss poor network the CPD has. Video retrieval after the crime occurs has some value, but the video quality is so poor you can't even identify anyone's face. Not much value in court. Thanks Daley/Huberman/Cline for wasting our tax money.

Question: Due to a traffic crash, you have to push the traffic through the red light. What happens when the camera photographs these cars? Is the City Clerk notified not to ticket these cars?

You are one asshole instigator. On 10-1's, the so-called Roosevelt Road boundary between 010 and 011 was meaningless since we shared the same radio zone with 010.
Over the years, both bloody districts have had more than any district's share of outstanding coppers.
Parking violations are bullshit, particularly when you consider the violent, in-progress calls on Zone 10 (In my day, it was Zone 4 radio).
Street coppers have no control over some nit-picking idiot with zone access sitting in front of TV screens.
Sgt. 1120 or 1190 should have told the zone to dispatch meter maids to Marshall or get lost.

Most of the pod watchers are retired coppers making $17.50 an hour for 80 hours a month. I know two of them I used to work with.

Fusion Center doesn't monitor the cameras they just use them in response to incidents and review them when requested by POs,detectives, bosses. It's the retired POs working at OEMC that monitor the cameras and call in drinkers, etc.

I applied for the Fusion Center and was told all the POs at the Fusion Center have security clearances, training in couterterrorism, foriegn language proficiency and military experience.

YES, that is true. So with that experience, then you'd THINK that they'd know how much busier each and every zone is now-a-days. You'd think that they wouldn't be sending CRAP events to the zone for dispatch. Sending us parkers, drinkers, and the occassional guy selling loose cigarettes or dvd's out of the trunk of his car, isnt HELPING when a lot of zones are in backlogs every day and the MAJORITY of calls on the board are NOT the high priority ones; , instead, they are these bull$hit low-priority ones! With NO complainant mind you, because the "caller" is the retired PO sitting at the OEMC who isnt going to be signing any complaints any time soon.
How about if they actually send us jobs that are WORTHWHILE??? Like gang disturbances, battery in progess', auto accidents, or shootings?? Although that last one is a joke, because every time there IS a shooting, the camera Never Seems To See Anything!!

Yesterday I got a letter from Mike Mette. He wanted to thank all of you for the letters, postcards, Thanksgiving, etc and that it has helped him with... his new life. He had some type of board in his cell that allows him to put the Chicago postcards that were sent to him reminding him of home. It was the hardest letter I have read... and he also me to say that he loves you all. He's very limited to the # of leters/stamps he can send out, so his apologies. The vast majority (maybe about two on "scholarship") of the officers in the fusion center are there for their qualifications (refreshing) - mostly either for a backgrouynd in computers or the military (with clearances)- they seem to be short so if you are either I'd send a resume if you don't mind being stuck in a windowless room with constant supervision. They sometimes watch the pods at random (they won't call in a parker- trust me on that) but if they are watching mostly its either because something happened or because intel says something might (retalliation, funeral, etc.). I would guess the retired guys at OEMC call is correct. Don't be shy about calling the fusion center- they bend over backwards when a dick calls - but will still go to great lengths to find info for a regular P.O.

I'm surprised that 010, 012, 013, 014 and 024 don't have the largest amounts of DUI arrests in the City.
Folks won't go get citizenship or a license, but the back of every truck, van or SUV has a huge bumper sticker that proudly tells you from what Mexican state they escaped from. Those tickets for parkers,etc. all come from 911 Center with the retired guys trying to keep their jobs. The Fusion Center is the Police Department's Command Center that has access to the cameras, but only reviews them after a incident to look for offender information. I have called thier many times and always got a answer and help. Also, I never got the impression that any of them were not qualified.

they should extend 011 south to douglas because 010 to too scared to come north of douglas.....look at roos/inde....no body hanging out at churches....but all shit heads and no police at the two gas stations on 010 side....stop being bitches come patrol up to your border

We're both busy and both have fine coppers. I back up anyone I can get to and I'm sure they would do the same for me. I've been to plenty of 10-1's in 011 and I've seen 011 cars at our 10-1's. So stop with the silly high school bullsh*t.

Its hard to stop because most po's in both district are just out of high school a few years only.
I worked in 011 for 8 years and I have had numerous run-ins with coppers from 010. They were some of the best in the city. I have seen them as far north as Division to give an assist. We would also go anywhere in their district to do the same for them.
I don't honestly believe that the goof that wrote that nonsense ever worked in either district.
And I certainly don't remember this bickering going on a few years back on the night a 10th Dist. Sgt. was shot in the arm while in his patrol car. Excellent police work by all and the sniper offender was found.
This blog is all fun and games, so remember what is important and don't ever let this nonsense tarnish the friendship between those two fine districts.
yeah i got a similar call.. there was a call of a disturbance with teens on the corner in view of the pod camera. It was called in by the people who monitor the pod (oc 27?). How the fuck do they know that these teens are causing a disturbance if they are looking at thru a pod camera?
I got a call of man disturbing traffic in 002 last night because he was selling peanuts, you pod watchers suck my balls,
guess what i did my contact card and told the peanut man to move down a few blocks so the ball sucking pod police couldn't see him
