How come when am in court and the defendant has numerous convictions for the same crime, none of the info is allowed into testimony?
Now the city wants to treat us with less powers than all other people in society! If I did something wrong and fucked up, shame on me. I will learn from my mistake and accept my punishment. No way in fucking hell should it then follow me for the rest of my life on the job.

Are you fucking kidding me! I'm all for adding steroids and ecstasy to the random drug testing (have you seen some of these guys lately) and having people take a drug test prior to being assigned to a specialized unit, the city's proposals are a bunch of shit!
Next they'll be wanting to come into our homes to check our medicine and liquor cabinets. OTC drugs past their expiration date? You get a day.
And God forbide if you smoke. They'll want to check the cigarrete tax stamp to make sure you didn't cross over to Indiana to get cheaper smokes, thus denying the city of more tax dollars.

The real rub is that there is no need to increase disciplinary punishment. What is needed is for the connected and clouted to worry about the repercussions of their actions. P.O. Joe SHMOE will always be hammered for his mistakes. But the likes of Sgt BREMON (019, charged with a felony) and Lt WALSH (018, charged with a felony) both have parents who were bosses and both got a pass, except for a trip to rehab.
You can give me a day, give me a year or take my job, what difference does it make...if all they get is a paid vacation to deal with their alcohol "problem". It was always easy to crush a nobody. When will the somebody's be held accountable?
A few more they are working on:
Your residence will be equipt with live camera coverage with direct feed to OECC and all actions at your residence will be preserved via electronic data form.
All officers will have a 2200 hrs. curfew on days off.
All officers will be required to take a breath test at the end of thier final alcoholic beverage to insure that you have not passed the .08 legal limit, even if your are not driving.
All officers will have a large sticker placed on the rear of any personal car they own that reads: I AM AN OFF DUTY POLICE OFFICER, REPORT ANY POOR DRIVING OR ILLEGAL ACTION TO 911.
All officers will have daily DNA swab done of thier privates to insure that the only person that officer had sex with is their lawful spouse or documented legal companion of the same sex.

Pg 2 why 24/72 hours? Every time I have been there I have been given a copy immediately there is no reason to wait. At least not a legitimate one. Maybe if they are going to play shenanigans such as deleting questions asked etc then they might need the 24 hour to doctor it up. I see a lot of statements being taken on Fridays here.
Pg3 Why the picture at all? Do we routinely release mug shots? Nope, just currying favor with the media that’s all. How bout every time an alder creatures relative, illegitimate child etc is locked up we release their picture?
Pg 4 Come on who we kidding here? They keep it now, they just aren’t allowed to use it in proceedings. As for spars kept for 5 yrs, so after 48 months you can count my forgetting to shave against me? How bout this? You are allowed to keep them for the length of time it took John “Quarters” to get a new city job from the time he got out of prison? I mean really if you can forgive a felony that quick then surely my not shaving can be forgiven?
Pg 5 Traffic accidents need to be addressed as a separate issue ,but I don’t see anywhere in here where new wording is put addressing this issue. So now accidents are not really accidents in their eyes. Doing away with the sup review well no skin off most of our noses since this only helped the clout babies anyway.
As for shall going to may well all this means is the city is opting out of this unless forced to the city won’t go there that’s why it was written as shall to start with.
Pg6 Wow do away with the minimum # that has to be settled each month .You think its backlogged now? Just wait. As for the sup review same as pg 5 it doesn’t help most of us anyway.

Pg 9 I see no harm here how many times have you done more than 1 in service training a year let alone 7 non-disciplinary times? Please we barely get any training as it is this one will change nothing.
Well at least we know why the hatchet jobs continue in the press. Arbitrators read the papers and perception is 50 % of the battle. Unfortunately it’s a battle the FOP refuses to even fire a shot in.

IAD is controlled by clout. That was the downfall of SOS. Bosses who ignored valid warnings of criminal behavior because of clout. Not acting on hundred's of court deviations. Unless the officer had clout.(JF) The review process for CR#'s is designed for clout. If only IAD actually did their job in a fair, firm and consistent manner, problem employees could be dealt with and offciers would develop trust in this department. Instead, we have absolute clout that rules with pompous exempt members. Please clean house and promote actual, qualifed exempt commanders who can restore pride and integrity into this department. Start with IAD.

The one thing to remember is these are "proposals". The last I recall we do have the right to vote to accept the contract in it's entirety. If there is something about it you don't like then vote against it!

Why is it random drug calls my unit 'randomly' every day for about 2 weeks, then I don't hear from them for about 6 weeks. What exactly is random about that?

There is no reason to ask an officer to submit to a drug and alcohol test if involved in a shooting. There is no cause for this. What happens when Dude comes in to a joint Im having a beer in, and robs it. I shoot him, and they test me for alcohol. Now Im wrong because i have alcohol in my system, and the dead asshole's family sues me. Also, Im fired for a rule violation.
Far Fetched? No not really, it has happened, and will happen again. Just ask retired P.O. Jim Ahern> if he had been tested for alcohol the night he shot the three men who robbed the tavern he was in, the entire incident would have been seen in a different light.
By the way, he won a lambert tree for that.
If there is no cause, no testing should be ordered.
Having said all of this, i know that it is unlikley that any testing would result in a positive indication. However, there is no cause, the officer is not being accused of drunk or drugged out shooting.

Hate to Urinate on your Parade, but Drug Testing came into prominence during the Reagan Administration. 27 years later & millions of so-called random samples only account for 2% of the workforce testing positive.
