Battle of the 5 and 7's

If they lose tonight, our prediction of 8 and 8 or worse is a lock and the Bears are just playing for draft position. Kind of a let down from last year's Superbowl appearance.

Anyone want to predict the Cubs and Sox seasons coming up?

Seeing as though Detroit has picked up two Damn good players, i would say the Sox season is about done, and the cubs are aiming for 100. Maybe the papers will celebrate with a commemorative coin of some sort. I would get one of those.

The White Sox did absolutely nothing at the winter meetings and will pay the price this season with an "awesome on paper" Detroit team in their division. If Reinsdorf would've spent a couple of more schekels the Sox would'e been automatically in contention due to their decent pitching staff, now there's noway they finish better than third. Cubs fans, however, even after getting bitch-slapped by Arizona in the playoffs, must've switched from the Kool-Aid to the pizipe this Fall, because those fools refuse to grasp the reality that last season was a huge fluke. Look at the past few seasons, when St. Louis has an off year (think '03/'07) the Cubs win a weak NL Central Division, do you really expect/hope/pray the Cardinals to be bad every year? I think not, 4th place for the Cubs at best because their pitching will suck. But at least the fans are walking distance to Roscoe's so the boys in their Soriano jerseys can pick up some annonymous dude and forget about all their troubles for the night.

Wait, wait. You're giving up on the Hawks already?

C'mon! I was looking forward to more hockey commentary. The home games look glorious in HD.

Cubs will suck and choke. 3rd place if that. As for the Sox, I will forever cherish the memories of 2005. When they extended Ozzie's contract that was the kiss of death. If they would have 86'ed him they might have had a chance with Joe Torre. Look for a 4th place finish for the Sox

Ken Williams, grab your shine box.

Things are looking up for the Hawks. Now that Old Man Wirtz is now "Cold Steel Under Ice". His son sounds like he's got some good ideas. And as much as I loathe the Cubs , John McDonough will be a great asset to the organ-I-zation.

The Bears suck, it is painful but we must admit it.

Hell, Favre was just named 2007 Sportsman of the Year in the Sports Illustrated that comes out today. Not to mention leading all players overall in ProBowl votes.

And we have to chose between Grossman and Griese.

Sigh.

The problem: Coaches & depression.
Smith is on downers and barely awake; Babich doesn't have a clue what the Bears defensive scheme is,
Turner is always hoping for idiotic plays that go nowhere to set up the big play. Then the running backs can't run; receivers can't catch. Offensive linemen get pushed around like shopping carts; defensive linemen can't tackle; defensive backs play the ball like "Oh shit! It's coming my way!!", then fall down. They can punt & kick field goals & do runbacks and that's all. So just keep the special teams on the field for the whole game & they will be much better. I hope McCaskey takes the whole team to Europe, then after a couple of years we can get another real pro team in here!

Cubs will do well and make the playoffs. Sox due to the inepitude of Kenny Williams will battle the K C Royals for last place in the Division.
Bears have much rebuilding to do. With all that they need it will be several years before they might be good again. State with the offensive line. They need at least one tackle and guard. Keep Kreutz and Tait. The rest should be gone. Also they need a running back. Benson is a bust and Peterson and Wolfe are second stringers at best. They also need some receivers that can hold on to the ball, and on offense, last but not least, they need a quarterback. Defense needs to stay healthy and they need to find a safety in the off season. It is beginning to look like Urlacker's best years are behind him, so they need to keep Lance Briggs happy. Don't expect much out of the Bears nest year either.

Subject: The Chicago Bears

Q: What do you call 53 people sitting around a TV watching the Super Bowl?

A: The Chicago Bears

Q: How do you keep a Chicago Bear out of your yard?

A: Put up goal posts.

Q: Where do you go in Chicago in case of a tornado?

A: Soldier Field - they never have a touchdown there

Q: What do you call a ChicagoBear with a Super Bowl ring?

A: A thief.

Q: Why doesn't Springfield have a professional football team?

A: Because then Chicago would want one.

Q: What's the difference between the Chicago Bears & a dollar bill?

A: You can still get four quarters out of a dollar bill.

Q: What do the Chicago Bears and possums have in common?

A: Both play dead at home and get killed on the road!

Q: How many Chicago Bears does it take to win a Super Bowl?

A: Nobody knows and we may never find out.

And my favorite:

Q: What do the Chicago Bears and Billy Graham have in common?

A: They both can make 70,000 people stand up and yell "Jesus Christ!".
