You gotta laugh... but this Sam Roe, David Heinzmann and Steve Mills | Tribune staff reporters ... simply put? SENSATIONAL PUSSIES!

How dare you write those bullshit lies?

I wont entertain your fabricated, sensational article jagoffs, but did find the one about reloading to be hillarious.

5 Shots then reload? What kind of guns do you think we carry? Do the research assholes before you make up lies about how many bullets a typical policeman's gun holds.

All it will take is one of these cocksockers to become a victim of a crime before then they'll change their tune. Aside from that, they would never agree to a ride-along, as this would open up their liberal, police bashing eyes.

Sam Roe, David Heinzmann and Steve Mills | Tribune staff reporters

Were these guys ever employed by the Scum-Times?

I would never expect the Tribune to allow such a fabricated article.

But then again, when you're competing with such a wanna-be Enquire type newspaper, you'll allow anything at this point.

It took 3 of you losers to make up such garbage?

You sound worse than half the criminal, pimp, crackhead, dopeslinging, scamming reverands out there.

Hey guys, why don't we allow reporters to sit in on the round tables too?

Oh! I forgot we don't have to, you assholes write your articles as if you were there anyway, and without any further investigation.

Ask Frank Main about the Tribune Dream Team -

"Sheriff asks state panel to probe lawyer over jail fights
Chicago Sun-Times, Jun 11, 2004 by Frank Main
Sheriff Michael Sheahan is asking a state disciplinary panel for lawyers to open an inquiry into the conduct of an attorney representing inmates at the Cook County Jail.

Sheahan sent a letter Thursday to the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission asking for an investigation of Jean Maclean Snyder of the MacArthur Justice Center. She insists she has done nothing wrong.

But Sheahan is raising questions about whether she conspired with inmates to stage fights with guards. She represents five inmates in a lawsuit claiming correctional officers beat them up in July 2000 while they were handcuffed.

Sheahan also asked the commission to look into questions surrounding an essay by Snyder that the Chicago Tribune published in May. Snyder compared conditions in the Cook County Jail to the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. soldiers.

She identified herself in the essay as an attorney with the MacArthur Justice Center at the University of Chicago Law School. Later, the Chicago Tribune published a clarification that "Snyder currently represents clients in lawsuits stemming from incidents that were the subject of her essay."

"We will ask whether she violated rules governing the ability of attorneys to make extrajudicial statements that would pose a threat to the fairness of a pending civil matter," said Sally Daly, a Sheahan spokeswoman, referring to the lawsuit Snyder brought against the sheriff's office."

Here's some from the Official Paper of American Communists Party - Peoples Weekly World - 2002:

"Jean McLean Snyder of the MacArthur Center for Justice, affiliated with the University of Chicago Law School, which is handling the suit, pointed out that both Illinois Law and the famous Escobedo and Miranda decisions of the Supreme Court dictate that a person who is under arrest has the right to see an attorney at the police station if he or she so desires it, and that the police must immediately stop questioning anyone who asks for an attorney. Yet in scores of recent cases, First Defense attorneys were kept from seeing their clients for hours while questioning continued.

“These police tactics are not an accident or mistake,” Snyder said. “They are conscious effort to keep people from seeing their lawyers.” Kate Walz, executive director of First Defense, said that after a recent shooting of a policeman, 11 First Defense clients, rounded up by the police, were denied the right to see an attorney while they were relentlessly questioned for hours.

Also, she stated, the attorneys trying to meet with the arrested people were harassed by the police and lied to about the specific place their clients were being held. More than 45 public interest organizations are supporting the suit.

Jakes accused the Chicago police of trying to act as “judge, jury and prosecuting attorney” in many cases, and pointed out that the need to do something about youth violence in Chicago is not served by false arrests and police abuses. Coincidentally, the First Defense suit comes when Chicago’s public attention has once again been aroused by police abuses.

Four young African-American men were just released from jail where they were serving sentences for the 1986 rape and murder of medical student Laurie Roscetti. Through DNA testing it was discovered that their DNA did not match the evidence found at the crime scene. Press reports shows the case to be one of extreme police malfeasance.

One of the released men, Calvin Ollins, 14 years old at the time, was pressured into giving a false confession and implicating the others. The false confession was the only evidence to convict the men. Chicago Tribune reporters documented ways the police pressure people, even children as young as seven years old, to “confess” to crimes they did not commit. "

It is easy to see the agenda and the roadmap.

I take umbrage at the comments of former FBI agent Tom Smith.

This is the individual who the FBI assigned as a range officer at Great Lakes.

In that assignment he shot another FBI agent and claimed that he was not aware that the weapon he was carrying was loaded with live ammunition rather than dummy rounds.

After he shot the agent he was allowed 24 hours prior to being interviewed regarding the incident, stnadard FBI practice.

He was not then disciplined!

Hillard then hires him as an expert to investigate CPD officers.

This is the kettle calling the frying pan black.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/specials/cops_video_page,0,7351767.htmlpage

Mr. Roe, you have some serious issues. If we handle investigations like you do you reporting and investigations, nothing would get done, victims would see no justice, and to top it off we'd look like a liar and just as incompetant as you.

Dude, get a life!

Don't you have something better to report? Like (here's a random thought) Why is there roadblocks and seatbelt enforcement of motorist in our city, but no seatbelts on a CTA bus? NOW THAT'S WORTH LOOKING INTO. Not!

You get my point. If you got nothing better to do? Then investigate no Seatbelts on the CTA - Fucking Loser!

I love how the article says, "A weapon was recovered in the vehicle but that was planted by Police since there was no blood or fingerprints on it" I know and have worked with Sylvia she is an excellent Det. and the Trib has become the same as the Scum Times. Smearing the police sells papers so they jumped on the band wagon. Just because the city agrees to a settlement it does not mean that what the other side says is true. But I warn you people if you are involved in a shooting be prepared to be treated like an offender...

I have had enough of this job. I just can't stress it enough: They call when they need something. ("They" being any civilian in the city), but they are so quick to find fault, seek money, hire a scumbag attorney to load their mind with thoughts of "justice" for the loss of a loved one, and march against Police Brutality.
Sure, I agree a loved one is a loved one, but the bereaved must accept what the loved one was outside of the house. No one can claim complete ignorance of what someone is when not nestled in the living room with wife, mom and babies. I have 1 or 2 real jagoffs in my family and if run ins with police one night lead to him geeting fired upon or killed I would immediately, and without question know that there was merit to the shooting because i know what this person is capable of, just add drugs, or booze, or even nervousness.
I must beg the media to pull arrest records for the offenders, look at domestic violence history, look at calls for service, look at a checkered and most of the time, violent past climaxing with a violent end initiated by him.
I had still a respect for the tribune, figuring they are guided by realism, not rumor or innuendo. I was wrong. I feel that we as Police are victimized by the media, by the public, and sometimes by each other. This is sad. Every time I see this Loevy on TV my flesh crawls. The basic reason is his method of solicitation. He is your typical ambulance chaser. Police scanner in hand or at the office waiting for the call. Hoping that there is some money for him at the tail end of the case. It's sad. Every self respecting Lawyer should be appauled by such a man demeaning the profession by keeping his dance card full with such garbage cases.
If I knew how to do anything else, I would. I am Police Officer, sworn to protect and serve...Defend and care for people...without prejiduce... and I have. I am stuck her for at least another decade.
What is to come? More hatred? More Death? More media frenzy? More stress? More alcoholism? More suicide? More divorce? The answer is YES to all of the above.
Never judge a man intil you've walked a mile in his shoes. We witness the mans walk every day and pray that we never would have to walk in his shoes. The ones we deal with in a negative way are not men like that. They are ones who have a choice...GOOD or BAD. They choose bad.
PEOPLE OF CHICAGO: DO NOT JUDGE US UNLESS YOU HAVE WALKED A MILE IN OUR SHOES. WE, LIKE ALL OTHERS ARE FALLIBLE.

The difference is when we make mistakes they are exploited, and amplified to a level that in turn hurts the Police department as a whole. Weakens ones ability to WANT to serve and protect.
Involving the public in Policing was a mistake. It is proven every day. Giving a voice to someone who knows nothing of what we deal with is WRONG. In the absence of knowledge there is only opinion. These opinions become "fact" in the eyes of the media and the public because of the repetition in the press.

Nothing will change for the better unless it comes from the public. The city bows to the self proclaimed reverends and the activists who were never "active" unless it feeds their agenda.

I say, respect and be nice to Children and seniors. Everyone in the middle, be cautious.

I wish all of my Brothers and Sisters on this job a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year. MY respect for all of you is undying. Respect each other because right now WE are all WE have.

Cop Fired After Suing Family of Infant Drowning Victim

CASSELBERRY, Fla. — Casselberry authorities say a police sergeant has been fired for suing a family after she slipped and fell while trying to rescue a 1-year-old boy from drowning.

Casselberry Police Chief John Pavlis fired Sergeant Andrea Eichhorn on Tuesday.

Eichhorn has dropped her negligence lawsuit. It claimed there was water on the floor at Joey Cosmillo's home when police arrived. Eichhorn claimed she broke her knee and missed two months of work after she slid on the wet floor.

The boy suffered brain damage and can no longer walk, talk or swallow. He lives in a nursing home and eats and breathes through tubes.

Eichhorn can appeal her firing. Pavlis said the lawsuit brought public ridicule to the agency and damaged its reputation.

===============================
Nice Hatchet job full of innuendo, half truths, complete untruths and speculation.

Did you ever go to the police training center and take the "shoot, don't shoot" scenarios? If not, why?

I am quite sure that ADS Matt Tobias would be happy to set up the training for you and any other members of the media who request it. Are you afraid it might balance out your articles? If so, why haven't you mentioned it. If you haven't you truly do not have the right to criticize.

Thanks for making the job of every officer in this city that much harder. Your article is going to get more police officers killed or badly hurt because they will hesitate, even when they are 100% correct. It has already happened.

Why is it that good things officers do get buried on page 5 of the metro section, but you plaster your article on the front page and take 1/2 of it doing it.

Did you do any research into the Use of Force model of the CPD, State and Federal law? Court decisions?

Do you realize that people point guns at police officers every day? Stab us? Try and run us over? Have you ever ridden in a blue/white for a week or so to see what goes on? Make sure they give you a vest if you do.

I have been on the CPD for 22 years. I have never seen the media act this horrid to the average working officer ever.

I can't wait to read the rest of this crap to see how much more you drag people through the mud.

Here is my 2 cents that I added to the Tribune's online comments section;

Police Work Being Halted

I personally know MANY honest, hard working police officers who are refusing to do any police work anymore. This is fast becoming the survival technique for law enforcement in Chicago. Officers are sick of the WORST criminal element of the city being supported by the fake reverends and political hacks not to mention the biased liberal media.

Police Officers WILL follow all department guidelines and laws however FORGET about doing any aggressive work. Going to assignments with lights and sirens blaring at 20 mph so the offenders know they are coming and briskly flee the scene is fast becoming the norm for both seasoned and young Chicago Police officers alike. What can Chicago Police Command or the new Independent Police Review Authority do about this? NOTHING! All rules and laws are followed.

If you are standing in the street and are waiving down a police car because your mother just had a heart attack or someone is breaking in your back door, don’t be flabbergasted when the officer is “looking in the other direction” because he “thought he saw something on the other side of the street” when he really just didn’t want to get involved with your problem which he is afraid will end his career. Once again, what can Command staff or the new IPRA do about this? NOTHING! All directives and laws are followed to “the T.”

If anyone in Chicago has thought hard about purchasing a gun for self protection, NOW just may be the time to do so. Your lives just may depend on it. I highly doubt the next time you hear a burglar in your home at 3 a.m. the so called “reverends” that are monetarily supported by gang members or a liberal member of the media who lives in Highwood Illinois will come to save your life.

Ever since one guy got drunk and hit a bartender, all the media does is police bash. I retired from CPD after 34 years. My son is a policeman with 9 years on. Because of stories like yours, if I were addressing roll calls of young police, I would tell them not to do any pro-active policework. Maybe this town needs to be taken over by the gangs and drug dealers for you to wake up to the fact that everyday, people all around the country put on a uniform to make you safe. The source for much of the Tribune article Tom Smith is some piece of work. When an FBI "firearms expert" range instructor he shot another agent at the range. His excuse I didn't know the gun was loaded. He complains that police shootings weren't investigated thoroughly when he was the Chief OPS Investigator. He said that the investigation often came to the same conclusion of the round table and repeated what was said and determined there. Excuse me but if there was a problem wasn't this his job to see that there was a proper investigation DUH. Maybe he should be indicted for official misconduct for failing to perform the specific and only task he was hired to do.

Nice example of showing the legitimate tax paying citizens about how there are two sets of rules in chicago.

(1) for shithead ghetto dwellers

and one for everyone else.

EXAMPLE:

I knew a guy that was of limited mobility. He had a vehicle with specially installed hand controls. He could now drive. However, he had to abide by all types of regulatory stuff (limited driving privilages, special liability insurance riders, etc.)

GHETTO EXAMPLE:

Buy old piece of shit car
get tints on the windows and rims
have no D.L.
no liability insurance

THEN THE BEST PART....

Drive at all hours of the day & night..OPERATING THE PEDALS WITH A $10.00 CANE BOUGHT AT WALGREEN'S!

If this asshole hadn't been killed by police he probably would have been arrested in the future after running over someone and killing them and than leaving the scene.

His family and lawyer would make excuses and portray him as the victim and he would get off with a slap on the wrist!

These fuckers will always use the law to their advantage either way!

I WISH I COULD BE A PERPETUAL VICTIM AND WIN LIFE's (ghetto) LOTTERY!

The first thing they need to understand is that the round table is held to share information rather then do it via fax and phone calls. And to determine if Dept, regulations were followed.

Thats it nothing more!!! The round table is not an investigation and it is not part of the investigation.

Mr. reporter if you print anthing other than that, you don't know what you are talking about or your telling a LIE.

And here is a news flash. There is no such thing as a round table report. The Street Deputies report is to inform the other command staff and provide information to the Media who always monday morning quarterback the shooting ThenLIE and report and what ever the hell they want to report anyway,

Asking Dana Starks about what it takes to do a compitent Police investigation, let alone a Police shooting investigation. Is like asking a store front reverand about Nuclear engineering. Starks has never done a police investigation and could not if had had to. So quoting Starks regarding a police shooting is just sad.

No lets talk about the offender getting shot in the back. There is no law or department policy that states an officer must place him self in FRONT of an offender with a gun placing that officer in mortal danger.

There is no law or department policy that states an officer not shoot an offender in the back or the hand.

Most of these shootings are very dynamic and fluid situations. Ifyou think for one second these offenders are standing still while shooting at the Police you are a fucken moron. You should be selling papers on the corner, not writting for one.

As for the traing accademy only teaching the traffic stop shooting situations for the last five years. Thats another lie. I attended the accadamy in 1988 and they were teaching them then. They also included dills in domestic related and retail shooting situations.

Mr. reporter if you print anthing other than that, you don't know what you are talking about or your telling a LIE.

I have an idea Mr. reporter lets get you and all of your so called investigative reported buddies who spent three years on this investigation. And then came up with this piece of shit artical which by the way is full of holes and full of LIES. Lets meet in grant park. I will voluneer to be the bad guy. We will all be armed with paint ball guns, and no protection. A judge will yell go, I will run away from you. Th judge will yell shoot. we will see how many times I can shoot your dumbass in the face as I am running away with my back to.

No here comes the best part. you get to shoot at me too. However if you hit me in the back, I get to punch you one time in the face. we will have have an ambulance standing by to immoblize your broken jaw on your way to hospital. And also tendto the dozen or so large welts and bruises wou will have all over you face from the paint balls.

We as Police officers dont get welts when the poor offenders shot at us. WE GET DEAD!

No go back to school and learn how to do an investigation. Because based on your artical you have no clue. Better yet go talk to Dana Starks he will teach you how to investigate.

You sir are poorest excuse for a proffesional journalist I have ever seen. But in Chicago, LIES sell papers and I guess thats all that counts.

Mr. ROE,

"To this day," she said, "I don't know what were entry [wounds] and what were exit."

Just for your information many times the doctors can not tell if the wound is an entrance or exit would. But you expect a Police Officer or Detective to be able to testify to that. Your showing your ignorance on this one. The courts do not allow a Police Officer to give an opinion and thats all it would be.

'A way to quickly justify cases'

Again implying the officer is telling a lie or trying to cover something up.

You sir are a world class ASSHOLE!

I can see there is no shame of publishing several pages of LIES if your a Chicago reporter now is there.

I heard that T. Smith (retired FBI agent and former head of OPS) or "TD" or "Touchdown" as his friends call him was/is a goof!

He seldom worked a case as a field agent because every case he touched he fucked up!

So they (FBI) finally put him in charge of the Range, figuring "how bad can he fuck that up?"

Well not long after, he carelessly left his loaded weapon lying around. During a senario or "role play" exercise another agent believing it to be a "prop" and "in play" grabbed it and shot Smith with it in the gut.

So the rangemaster almost died, by his own gun because he "fucks up everything he touches" according to rumors I've heard.

But they hired him as OPS head because of the prestige of having FBI on the resume.

His wife wasn't much better. If she wanted to get out of doing anything she didn't like she would cry "sexism."

That's just what i've heard around these walls!

I am just repeating what I have heard, this is all 2nd and 3rd hand stuff!

I'm mean he is a public figure right? And now wants to bash CPD, after he had his chance to make meaningful change but did nothing! Screw him!

He sounds like that Italian general who said "Wait..there go my men into battle. I must go now and follow them. Because I am their LEADER!"

Listen up, Fartface. Your union is there to get you good wages and benefits and give you some level of job security. It does a damn good job. Santa is there to delver presents and good cheer. He does well, too. Your job is to shut the fuck up and stop exposing yourself as an imbecile that does not have a handle on elementary school grammar. Thus far, you are a failure. Fellow Officers,
Da Dum-Dum Mare only wants to use us to be revenue makers for the once proud City of Chicago. No longer will we be allowed to chase after anyone with a gun (unless in a car...vehicle impoundment $$). Our new jobs will be to write jaywalkers, litterbugs, traffic offenses and impounds...all revenue makers. Da Mare figures that if he can't get the casino, he may as well cash in on anything or anybody he can make revenue off of.

Listen up fartface. The last raise and yearly cost of living increase was below the national inflation average which is below the inflation average of the city of chicago. As far as benefits, my insurance payment went up and they took away the BCBS HMO Il. which every doctor accepted and replaced it with Blue Advantage which nobody takes. So let's see, my raise is less than the inflation rate meaning I'm actually making less and I'm paying more for my benefits which are getting worse. Chicago Tribune
Letters to The Editor
435 North Michigan Avenue
Chicago, Illinois 60611

Dear Editor:

The Chicago Tribune is biased against the Chicago Police Department. Its goal is, and always has been, to portray police officers in the worst possible way to its readership. In order to poison the minds of its readers, the Tribune needs a bridge to the public. This is where Steve Mills, house reporter to the People’s Law Office and the Loevys, comes into play.

When reading Mill’s articles, one must realize that the story is being told by a person who is clearly biased against the Chicago Police Department. Reputable news outlets rely on unbiased reporting. The Tribune does not subscribe to that philosophy. Mills is an out-and-out “police hater.” At a national conference in New Orleans, Steve Mills was quoted as saying the following about Chicago Police Officers:

“It’s very clear. It’s us against them.”

“I mean why not make it (the relationship with police) an all out war…It’s our job to go after them.”

When Mills writes a story, he misleads his readers by providing a slanted account of the details. He admitted to as much when he said, “So, well, we can’t be as systematic as we’d like sometimes, if you can’t get enough—as long as you, you know, you stay focused like a laser on what you’re really trying to prove, you can go far enough and get enough into the paper to make the points.”

Make the points? What about reporting the entire story rather than bits and pieces which support your conclusion? The readers have no choice but to think poorly of police officers after reading his misleading stories. But then again, that is exactly what Mills and the Tribune want.

Mills talks about the tragic situation when a paraplegic was shot by police officers. After reading his story, a reader has no other choice but to conclude that the officers acted inappropriately. That is because Mills followed the Tribune script perfectly: “Present only the facts which hurt the police.” What Mills failed to write, by design no doubt, was that the paraplegic was fleeing the police in a stolen car moments prior to the shooting. He did not mention that the offender was driving the wrong way down streets during his flight. He also failed to mention that the offender threw a second gun out of his car during the chase. He claims that a gun was planted on the offender. So the first gun was his, but the second one had to be planted?

Moreover, it is undisputed that the offender’s family was outside when the shooting took place. It was a warm summer evening, with people all over the place. Surely someone must have seen the police plant this gun? Not one of those persons ever alleged that the police planted the gun on the offender. It was not until years later that someone concocted this story. Mills also failed to mention that the police explained that the offender pointed his gun at the officer who was standing outside his window when he was then shot by a police officer from the rear of the vehicle. Mills contends that since there were bullet wounds to the back of the offender’s hands, it is obvious that the offender had his hands “raised in surrender.” Mills neglected to mention that it was at least equally plausible that the wounds to the back of the offender’s hand came as the result of his pointing his gun at the officer. But then again, why should Mills or the Tribune let facts get in the way of a good story.

His series, which will continue all week, will likely contain more fabrications, selective testimony and out-and-out lies. This disservice to the members of the Chicago Police Department and every citizen of this City will have lasting effects. When credibility is given to one man who builds bridges between fact and fiction, and misleads the public, the credibility of all members of the media is questioned, just as is the credibility of all police officers.

Sincerely,

Mark P. Donahue
President
Fraternal Order of Police, Chicago Lodge

I take umbrage at the comments of former FBI agent Tom Smith.

This is the individual who the FBI assigned as a range officer at Great Lakes.

In that assignment he shot another FBI agent and claimed that he was not aware that the weapon he was carrying was loaded with live ammunition rather than dummy rounds.

After he shot the agent he was allowed 24 hours prior to being interviewed regarding the incident, stnadard FBI practice.

Really guys, we have to be accurate in our fact reporting. Tom Smith did not shoot anyone at the range that day, or any other day. THE FACT is that Tom Smith was the FBI agent that was shot. Very seriously injured. PLEASE, if you are going to bad rap someone, at least have the story straight. We are sitting here complaining about the Tribune's poor accuracy and we ourselves are no better.

it appears that the fop is like the supt., it doesn't matter who is there, they both cave into the mayor. the even sadder thing is that the fop guy is elected and can't be fired at the whim of the mayor, and he still chooses to sit on his hands, if he were a lawyer handling a murder case with the same attitude he would be disbarred.

Well Mr.F.O.P. President If this really Is you why don't you hold a press conference and display those very facts to the public beings as they constantly receive only one side of the story because no one including a boss or a F.O.P. Rep. steps forward and relay to the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted. The proper steps will be taken upon the conclusion of said results. Instead we get bosses that throw our officers under the bus right away and then stick their heads in the sand and wait for the storm to subside. The most hurtful part of our current state unfortunately is a Lodge that stands by and says nothing. If you really are the F.O.P. President we want someone to speak up for us and not stick there head in the sand just like the bosses maybe there would not be such an outcry to ouster our current F.O.P. staff. It was not my entent to rant but I'm sure you read/hear our plea's for help because we are being hit from all sides from people/media that have an agenda that is only self serving. please keep this in mind.
