Sun Times Drivers
Someone said in the comments that they started ticketing Sun Times drivers for traffic violations in the wee hours. Immediately, someone else said that the drivers are just working stiffs who didn't deserve a ticket and wouldn't it be better to write Mope-rah and Sun Times bosses. Ex-squeeze us, but didn't they just break the law?
We're going to say that everyone should write Sun Times drivers and Tribune drivers and any media truck committing a moving or parking violation. How many times have we, the police, taken a beating in the media for the sins of the bosses, the connected, the politically heavy? A few times? Many times? And isn't one of the favorite comebacks of the liberal establishment that we ought to "police our own"? Shouldn't the media do the same?
Isn't a Sun Times or Tribune driver part and parcel of the media establishment? You think after a few rounds of "Ticket, no I-bond, send a representative out to get your truck" and maybe the bean counters that run these rags might notice pissing off the police is going to affect their already razor thin profit margins. Trust us, we'd love to get Mope-rah or Dope-rah or any media anchor dirty and string them up for their hypocrisy. We aren't saying stop reporting when cops are caught dirty - we're saying stop piling on when the only purpose is to inflame the populace for a political agenda.

Write the media trucks. Word will get around. These trucks have a tough schedule to get these papers out. Parking tickets might be better than movers because they will go straight to the company first. The company will then deicide whether or not the working stiffs get charged. However, any opportunity to tow a media vehicle is a plus. Keep up the good work. Get the media!
I'd rather pays money to read NWI Times than read that garbage for free. I cancelled my Sun-Times subscription a while ago and everybody and their family should also.

According to my neighbor, a ST driver, they received a memo from their bosses a few weeks back regarding this. It stated that the drivers are responsible for any and all costs associated with any tickets or other fees. That includes towing and storage fees. He also states that a few drivers have already been hit.
He knows why it's happening and doesn't blame us one bit. He just drives a bit more careful now.

I'm appauled at this idea of ticketing the drivers. This is like blaming the individual officers for the actions of the mayor or other alderman in charge.
They are teamster drivers who are trying to make a living. They do not want to be away from their homes and families at 4:00 in the morning driving trucks, but this is there living. Sound familar? I hope the judge tosses these tickets. I'm embarassed sometimes of my co-workers.
Pull your sqaud car up to one of them when you're working at 4:00 a.m. and never once have they denied you a free paper out of courtesy.

Last Tuesday (27 Nov), a certain Channel 7 female news anchor whose name rhymes with Bathy Krock was written a mover for a cell phone violation by a loop traffic officer.
If you are that big of a jagoff that you cant find someone better to lock up, then you should think about a different line of work. I could care less if we are given a paper every morning, there is certainly more trash out on the street to police other than people who are actually working and paying taxes. Yes, I am sure the papers will get pissed if their trucks are impounded, but what about the guys who are just trying to make a living and feed their family (the drivers). Your time MAY be better served trying to get Pookie off the street when he is hustling or looking for a car to break into, or writing Jose for not having a DL/ins. These are the animals who are hurting society and not just slinging mud at the police. If they fire Mopera, they will just hire another race-baiting hater to take her place.
The drivers are doing their job, they don't write articles, Jesus you guys are brutal, why don't we fuck all athletes because one won't sign an autograph, be mad at the individual, not the group.

I don't agree with this. These drivers are probably some guy trying to put food on the table, and the only decent paying job he could get was working for these assholes. 99% of the time I'll cut a working guy/gal a break, at least they are contributing something to society. Leave the poor drivers alone. Use the "Jesse" squeeze and organize a boycott of their advertisers. Make sure the editorial staff is notified in writting. This might make them wake up.

As I wrote the other day, why punish the drivers for the actions of Mitchell?
They are working stiffs trying to support a family and perhaps, just perhaps, they don't like Mitchell either. If the violation is so bad, fine, do it, but leave them alone.
Also, I bet the folks calling for the tickets to drivers are not even on the street. It always amazed me officers who called for this action, or that action, really were not involved.
i just purchased from sharper image a heated floormat for my cruiser. with the winter months approaching it makes it so much nicer when i go my entire tour without wearing my shoes. i have it worked out where the sun times driver will enter the park where i like to hide and he will deliver the paper to my driver's side window. also if he has extra coupons he will pass them on.

I don't think it's fair to give these Sun Times DELIVERY guys a citation because they are always nice to the PO's whenever we politely ask them if they have an "extra" newspaper. Besides, they aren't the one who's writing the bad column about us PO's. I've seen those other newspaper delivery guys at 5AM who drives their personal car, block the street, and LEAVE their car engine running and doors unlock while they deliver the newspaper a half a block away. I don't write them citations, just give them a warning. These guys are trying to make a living. I say give them a little break. Remember, Christmas is coming.

SCC I finally believe you have struck an all time low. Ticket the drivers for what Mary Mitchell and the Suntimes writes about us? That has to be one of the most absurd ideas yet,ticket a hard working person because of their boss or co-workers. Hell while we're at it let's do an "Operation Just Cause " against all hardworking minorities,clegymen, etc. because a few who happen to be criminals and hate us . Yeah that makes alot of sense. You guys are a joke, do you honestly think society say " that copper who tased, hit, or shot that gang banger is a hard working average joe who has a family to feed and was just in fear of his life. That is our main problem, always worrying about the consequences of your police actions. I do not lose a second of sleep if I enforce the laws a indivuial broke regardless of race or what it is they do for a living. In my eyes everyone is an adult and makes conscious decision in life and must deal with the consequences of those decisions ie; roll through the red light, park in a bus stand,double park,park in a alley, etc...then you risk getting a ticket and dont put the guilt trip on me cause it wont work.
Example: today a detective class started today at the academy. On the fax sent out it told the officers on the list to report, to give ample time to secure legal parking for they will not be allowed to park in the parking lot. Now if you illegaly park around the academy and get a parker its your own fault and the staff at the academy will say shame on you (even though I believe the academy should provde parking for the officers attending, but thats another post). Without a second thought I know the management of the paper companies,ups, fed ex, and the beverage industries tell their drivers that while making deliveries they are not exempt or immune from parking and traffic ordinances and if cited the ticket is theirs to pay.
Some of these drivers are arrogant in the way they park to do deliveries and deserve to be ticketed and I for one write them if I feel the could of done the delivery without parking illegaly or causing a traffic gridlock because they were too lazy to walk an extra 30-40 feet. Heck one driver parked his truck on THREE handicap spots when there was parking all over the lot. When I asked him why would he park like that he replied just write me the ticket the company would pay the ticket. Well he thought it was just one, but because the truck took up three handicap spots he got three tickets.
Sorry but my star is not for sale for a 50 cent paper or a free bag of chips drive within the law and you have no fear of me. If I were on 1st watch I would definetly hammer them.

We should be writing everybody tickets. We take a beating, everybody else should take a beating (with a ticket). Whenever there is bad press, too many officer's use it as an excuse to do nothing. Most likely they are just lazy in the first place. Let the jagoff's on the west and south side's do their dope, rob and shoot each other. But when the rest of society get's off on watching and supporting the media BS, give them something to think about. Write all of them. You'll just be doing your job and keeping people safe over the holiday season.

I wrote a letter cancelling my subscription to the Sun-Times. It briefly stated that it was due to the articles written from Mary Mitchell and that the only concerns she has is that Black people are always mistreated, or the police are wrong and corrupt. I am tired of her comments and won't fund her employment nor read her garbage. If we all stick together, we can make a statement and a difference. I urge you to do the same. Think about this when it comes time to vote for a new Mayor.
Sun Times and Trib Drivers are okay and do not have anything to do with the every day bashing of the policeby those Liberal Pukes known as the "Fourth Estate". If it was not for a few misguided P.O.'S, we would have been Brothers with the drivers in the Teamster Union a few years back.Just think how well your current Union has served you.

Try reading more than just the headlines, then do the crossword and sudoku. From the way you guys talk, this task could take you half a week and make us "3 hour readers" look like geniuses.
