Second Guessing Gets Intense

  • Chicago Police Department officials testifying Friday at a public hearing said they were adjusting how officer-involved shootings are investigated.
  • What the roundtable process really needs is civilians who could sit in on the process, said the Rev. Robin Hood, of Redeemed Outreach Ministries. "It will be somebody that is not biased toward the police [or] the mayor," he said.
You really have to be some kind of an ass (like a west or south side reverend) to think that you can walk into the round table process and pass judgment on officers for something that takes place in the blink of an eye. Civilians, especially civilians who have anything to do with the reverends, have no business anywhere near a round table discussion. In our opinion, most civilians have no business even being near a jury box, but that's a different argument.

Monday morning quarterbacking.

Just wait, the reverands will get their way.

It is open season on PO's in Chicago.

I am laying down until it is over and keeping my job, pension and freedom, as are MANY of my co-workers.

There is no reason to be the proactive working police anymore.

It's not like I am going to get a merit promotion!

How about this,

Give cillians, revs, and surburban moms a badge and gun, have them make traffic stops and go talk to selling dopeheads. Better yet have them serve high risk warrants. (they forget police officers are killed-not to mention this year at the highest rate in over 30 years) Then when they get into a shooting its thire fault and we can arrest them.

Apperantly going through the hiring process, and the academy, and state testing mean absolutly nothing since anyone can do the job. Or in this matter judge police work without one day on the street in a police car.

Where is the dept and the union to back us up with public statements and saying "no" to a civillian review.

Also, if the mayor and dept possibly the union stood up to the revs and media it would be great, but with all this crap why be the police?

PS I'm waiting for a PO to go to prision and lose his house on a justified legal shooting. Then what? Give some feedback folks.

SCC, I know you are a right wing nut. But do you REALLY BELIEVE that most citizens "have no business in a jury box". What, only people like you should serve on a jury? What makes you qualified to decide who should sit on a jury or not?

Now, as for the citizens sitting on a round table for police shootings, that would be a disaster. My God, the city, the department, the media and local so called activist groups are really making it difficult for police officers to be proactive. If a police officer is proactive, then he will lose his job, pension and probably wear an orange jump suit. What a shame. What a real shame.

For most citizens, they cant even sit through a caps meeting without getting out of hand. Let’s face cit, with the racial tension in Chicago, the black citizens can even have a creative dialogue without playing the race card. This has been proven even by our most distinguished rrepresentatives among us. As for being “Bias” against the police or mayor daily. Even the good police in our ranks question some of the antics of our own. And for the mayor. I would guess 95 percent of the police cant stand the creep.

Police abuse
Predatory lending
White doctors fleeing the city
etc., etc....

Piece of shit....when you research individuals like this, it is very apparent they are hiding behind BS rev titles that probably dont even exist....what a scam...and the media gives them a stage to fill air time......ministers and the media are both whores

FROM THE TRIBUNE

Weis received criticism from a segment of the African-American community that was disappointed a minority didn't win the top post.
"I don't think this is a good message sent to our community," said Rev. Steve Greer Jr. of Christian Valley Baptist Church. "We needed a representative sensitive to the issues that African-Americans face and understand why we do what we do."
Greer, whose church is in the North Lawndale neighborhood, said he hoped Weis would choose an African-American for his second in command.

NOTE TO THE NEW SUP: If you let the "reverends/gangbangers" pick the 1st deputy, you will be sending a STRONG message to the rank and file that you are NOT in charge!!!! WE WILL KNOW by your selection. If you choose someone whose only qualification is the color of their skin (kinda like the way Starks got the job) the morale on this job will sink to irrepairable levels.

We're the only idiot department that has a roundtable anyway.

The Union has the upper hand in disciplinary investigations because of the Contract and past practices of the Department.

Independent arbitrators have ruled previously that the Department cannot overrule what has been allowed previously unless the Union agrees to the changes.

As long as the Union, meaning Donohue and Pleines, stand tall the Department, the City, the Mayor, the Office of Independent Review, the Reverands and the Press cannot overturn past practices.

Keep the heat on the Union and we will see no change.

The $35 per hour rate is what they bid to get the city contract, don't know what they do for the fed money probably count the services they charge the city for to the feds as well.

Starks isn't moving into a new position, that commision has been around for a decade or more, they have come under fire for spending four dollars for every one dollar that is awarded to victims. The previous boss and his staff have been criticized for running businesses on the side as well as failure to disclose. They had a budget of 1.35 million. I believe the previous boss was Clarence N Woods.

To the civilian who posted 12/02/2007 @ 12:05 hrs, Hey jack ass you know what would happen if you shot someone who was breaking into your home?
Yes, the police would respond and yes the detectives would also continue the investigation and yes the police would ask the pertinent questions. And Quess what? You'd be cleared of any wrong doing! You are in defense of your family and your property. And since you are not the police, you have alot more room for "error". The probability of the shitbird's family of suing you are close to nil.

Yes if you had an unregistered gun in the home, it would be taken for ballistic examinations and confiscated.

And assuming you are not a convicted felon, you probably would not even be charged with an misdeameanor failure to register.

Move to the suburbs if you don't like certain laws asshole
