What's That Sound?

That noise you heard around midday today? The sound of numerous rectal orifices slamming shut after hearing the following:
  • Three rogue Chicago police officers who robbed drug dealers of cash and narcotics were sentenced to lengthy prison terms Thursday by a federal judge who said the misconduct left him "at a total loss."
  • The judge sentenced Broderick Jones, 36, the alleged ringleader, to 25 years in prison; Darek Haynes, 37, to 19 years; and Eural Black, 44, the only officer to take his case to trial, to 40 years, the statutory minimum he could receive under the law.
  • Two other members of the ring, Corey Flagg and Erik Johnson, testified against Black after pleading guilty and agreeing to cooperate. Johnson was sentenced last fall to 6 years in prison, while Flagg is scheduled to be sentenced Friday.
These sentences are an incentive for anyone involved in an upcoming trial to cooperate and cut any deal available. Six years for cooperating versus twenty-five years for a guilty plea versus forty years for a conviction.

You don't need a weatherman to see which way the wind is blowing, eh Mr. Dylan?

I hope Corey Flagg rots in hell, but he will not, because he cut a deal.

So I hope he gets gang raped and then shanked to death.

What a fucking piece of shit, who had clout mind you, and he was a piece of shit before he came on this job too.

I hope we can start doing better background checks on people, and I hope that Flagg's clout feels some kind of heat from this. (I know he won't, but I can wish)

Can not wait for Finnegans case to go to trail, and hopefully see all the clout that protected him squirm too.

Off topic: THIS JUST IN: One of the Supe-to-be transition advisors will be none other than Chief Maher's husband. Sergeant Maher and Weis are aquainted from Maher's time on the FBI task force. While I have some respect for the sergeant, this gives his brainless wife a head start on gaining more power so that she can have more people to scream at and blame for her own stupidity.

Why do we continue to do such STUPID things!!!!! Is it really worth the couple hundred or even tens of thousands of dollars to lose everything you've ever worked for? 25 years of your life, your family, friends, pension, savings and everything else you ARE GOING TO lose. This is 2008, atleast half the department is college educated(no I'm not slamming anybody on this job one way or the other) when are we going to start acting like it? Too many bills, get rid of the new Escalade, don't go out drinking every night, brownbag the lunch, go to court or beat meetings, sign up for special. Do something other than act like the scumbags we deal with every day.

Corey Falgg was an IDIOT when he worked midnights at ccdoc. All dorms would be quiet except for his.. He was a problem child there and on cpd. A complete embarrassment for both departments. It figures he would cut a deal to save his ass. But why aren't the "play reverends" up in arms over this whole incident? After all they were robbing the fine citizens of the south east side.. Hhhmm, sounds a lil biased.. By the way, jessie jackass. I had watched the histroy channel episode "gangland" last night. Was that you sitting there with jeff fort? So, SCC it would seem that you are condoning being a RAT. Nice Advice. Just what the new brainwashed PPO's and 2 year (I know Everything) wonders need to hear. After all most morons take your rantings as gospel, not the tongue in cheek humor that others including myself used to take this rag for.I've noticed numerous times, commentors have asked you to read over and only print facts, not rumors or speculations, and especially names of officers.
This naming officers, especially those with families is an atrocity. The fallout is the media (not the friends of police), including IAD, ditto, read this junk. This just paints a larger target on our backs, and shows us as back stabbig lot, that can't get along with each other or treat each other fairly, so how are we suppose to be perceived as treating the public fairly. This is all ammunition for the LOVEY'S (high priced defense lawyers) of the world to come at us full force. So keep up with your lack of editing and printing the false and malicious rumors that you feed your hunger upon. It would be my belief along with other coppers that I have been talking to; that you SCC are NOT THE POLICE. How could a fellow policemen do this to his brothers and sisters?
Is this what we are to expect from the "more educated" coppers that are coming onto the job? Well, no thanks! I'll stick to my service buddies that came home with me and took this job, 'cause it was the best thing going. Just like over seas, we still keep our mouths shut, do our job, and if we have a problem with another copper we solve it. Not with a CR or some other type of RAT method, we solve it face to face, one on one. No media, no families, NO BLOG. I agree with the old timer in his comments about the old shit house wall. That was our blog, and that was where we got our justice with the guy we had the problem with. We'd either knock him silly in the stall, or take him out back to feed him his lunch. Quite simply we mostly got along, and always had each others backs.
Today, you are alone, this new breed including yourself, it seems would sell their own mother out for 30 pieces of silver. Technology can be a beautiful and useful tool, but in this case it is a maniacal beast that has no conscience or regret and is the SUPER RAT of the 21st century.
You could have had a great rag here, but instead you chose to create a malicious flesh eating disease that is tearing this department, districts and impressionable coppers apart. Hope you are proud of yourself when you go to sleep at night.
My family doesn't need the grief from me posting this so I will choose the "cowardly" thing to do and not print my name to my rant. Oh yeah, just like you! Thanks SCC for turning the job I love into something the media and your readers can now flush like a turd in the toilet. Over there we had a code of honor, we all watched each others backs, and most of the firefights came from the front not too many guys got stabbed in the back. We never had to worry about "our own". So let me see, if I had to have somebody behind me now, I would choose the viet-cong over SCC, ain't that a hoot!

Through your editing of my comments, you rebutted to me that their were two many uses of the word "pookie" etc... I gladly changed the comment, and you published, thank you. I have since noticed that your publishings in your main section along with comments are including nicknames, proper names, districts, rank and even bts of officers. You have to take a stance, this is not permissable. We need to protect our own. The media, reverends and private sector are collectively tearingus a new A**HOLE. This has to stop. These people have families and children. This sight is full on non facts, just idle speculation. Yet some readers, a good majority blieve this to be the truth. This site started out as fun, filled with humor and rib poking. It has become dark and polluted, promoting dissention throughout the ranks, and zero respect for us from outsiders. The team averages about 4 C.R.'s a year, and they are bullshit. No one's looking to be a hero-just get your head and back up each other & the watches. Supervisor culpability should be addressed before your brilliant idea of rotating people & partners. Where I work, there's not many people tripping over each other to get on a tact team. Other than the camaraderie, there's not many benefits. Wanna work 2000-0430? Then jump on board! What about the 25 yr veterans who have been partners for 15 yrs and have NO bad time? They should be seperated because you think it's a good idea? You need to go back down to your mother's basement and stop playing with her computer. Get some time on the job, jagballs!

Friend, I like your passion on the subject. bottom line, Corey had clout. He left 007 and went to the Area 2 Gun Team - where he did a lot of his dirty deeds. He was "sponsored" by the Area 2 D/C and when the shit hit the fan, the D/C covered his ass.

TRUST ME, when I tell you that Corey Flagg had NO buissness being a cop, a corectional guard, or anything to do with the public trust.

I am just sick that a guy who was "sponsored" gets nailed, and the guy who was his sponsor gets away with it, and gets the chance to sponsor another person. IMO, this one of the things that is SO WRONG with the CPD.

You mean don't mention people who's names are public record for having disgraced the star and being convicted of numerous felonies resulting in furtherance of the bad reputation and publicity we've been being pummeled with?

Or bosses and other high profile individuals who by manner of their actions and positions are public figures already?

You're making generalized accusations and as we stated months ago, we're under no obligation to publish any comments, let alone comments that make no sense and provide nothing but a forum for you to attack cops in general and us specifically. Something must be going on in 008. I had 0812 roll past my garage last night while I was working in there.Apparently I looked suspicious. Good to see you guys around, sorry about that ribbing I gave you about always being on Western. Now, if we can just teach the old man on 812 days to do some work, we'd be ok. Its been so long since I have seen 812 in the neighborhood. Do I dial 311 for tumbleweed complaints? Thanks again though, its nice to see someone paying attention to the neighborhood.

Flagg and Jones were saved by none-other-than Jimmy Maurer after they got dumped from tact in 007. don't blame shields, he got them shoved on him by "do as i say, not as i do" maurer.

Previously reported on the blog and awaiting an update.

If Tobias is in trouble regarding the gift of a motorcycle then what about the "Phat Phil" who received an antique automobile from one of his subordinates?
Is this gift reported on his ethics statements? Would the G.O.'s allow this?
This could be very interesting!

If anyone should get 40 years it should be the main players, Broderick Jones and Corey Flagg, not the other guys. Haynes got 19 years - he was actually a hell of a nice guy and a damn good cop. I hope the Feds ship these assholes to states on each coast and then continually move them around just to fuck with their families.

Jones and Flagg are nothing but street thugs. Always were. Anyone who worked with or around them knew they were no good. But you would be hard pressed to find anyone who had a bad word to say about Eural Black. Good guy. He screwed up and should be punished and fired. I don't have a problem with that. But 40 years! They had him for one incident. He was by far the least guilty of all charged. He also is the only one who went to trial. Scary stuff.

***************************************
Ok, I'll give you that, I didn't know about the gun team stuff, I thought it all happened while he was in 007. So for that part I will dial my comments back a bit. But I am still sick of having to answer questions or take looks about coppers who misuse the power. It makes me sick. Assholes, the lot of them.

The one thugs mother was a Sgt at IAD who was quietly stripped and sent to callback when this happened (so as not to embarass the ADS) for info she helped sonny boy get on the investigation.

1/04/2008 02:07:00 PM

His mom was not a Sgt, and she was never stripped of her police pwers. There is no way to prove that she actually gave info on anything, and in this case she wouldn't have even had any of this info since she was in general investigations and had nothing to do with the feds. I'm not saying she's innoncent, but there is so much ignorance going on here, it's pathetic.

As for if Jones was untouchable or not, I guess the fact that he was stripped and at 311 already awaiting getting fired on a different case while most of this happened has gone over most of your heads. He was an asshole, what are you gonna do?

They were caught shacking down drug dealers a few years before the feds took them down, I believe they both took 10 days suspension time, yet the dept put them back in plain cloths to continue the criminal behavior. I wonder why? And how far up the CPD this really goes?

The feds are extortion and bribery experts, sanctioned by the courts, from district, circuit appeals to the 'supremes'.

Plead guilty and cooperate, get below guideline time, that's the bribe.

Plead guilty but don't cooperate, get only as much of a 'break' as the guidelines require.

Go to trial, get found guilty and, with the full cooperation of the 'judge', get hammered.

Their excuse for the way they do things: 'we only prosecute the guilty'.

Bribery and Extortion have replaced Innocent until proven Guilty.

Plus, the common practice of charging at the most felonious level one can imagine a given 'criminal' act can be portrayed to be, the facts be damned.

After all, the Military/Industrial Combine ain't the only enterprise that needs a constant flow of cash.

The Criminal 'Justice' Industrial combine is also a huge money-maker.

Hence, the 'war on drugs' being such a reliable source of fodder to be processed, at great taxpayer expense, from the arrest, prosecution, conviction and incarceration of so many.

How ironic is it that, upon conviction, an 'offender' is punished not only by being subject to incarceration, but to the seizure of all properties gained, with fines imposed on top of that.

Money makes the world go around, especially the worlds of those in power.

Oh please. Tact / Gang teams only worked that 2000 - 0430 hours only on special events, new year's day and only "if" you get detail to work "Operation safe summer" weekend in the ghetto.
You making it sound like working 2000 - 0430 hours is a pain in the ass. Why? Have you ever worked midnights before? A lot of working PO's wants to be in Tact / Gang teams not only for good experience, but how about leaving an hour early almost everyday, while the rest of the beat cars have to wait for atleast 10 mins after the hour in order to check-off. You enjoy your 1 hour lunch and don't have to go over the air where you're dining (out of the district!) etc. etc. I have a lot of respect for the Teams because I used to be in it.. And no I didn't get kick out, I quit for my own personal reason. And please, I don't wanna read none of your crap again..

To 1/04/2008 06:03:00 PM,

You Sir are correct. Carl Flagg was a fucking thief who was protected by Irish bosses while he shook down taverns in 018. He was also a suspect in several murders of prostitutes in 018-suspected of extortion's that went wrong. In the late 1960's he was dumped to 011 with an Irish captain "McG" as the noose drew tighter....

This is the same boss that got 2 CR#'s for Sexual Harrassment. One was sustained and Charile Williams and crew did everything they could not to have him serve his time. What kind of example are these bosses setting? Reward bad behavior! Violence in the Work Force is a crime!

Just for the record, all officers that work at 35th are not dog asses and clout heavy. I don't know a sole, but I have worked very hard over the past 20 years. I am very proud of the work I do everyday. I do not want to be a part of this new department so I will be volunteering to go back to the district when my last kid gets out of high school this May. Yes, believe it, a father that wants to work days and have weekends off to be AT HOME and AT GAMES with his kid. I just don't want to be a part of the bullshit, back stabbing and ass kissing to come.

When I met the new Supt., he seemed pretty descent. In my opinion he will wait at list 6 months to start making major moves. He doesn't know his job yet, so he can't just move people.

The good thing is the new Sergeant's class will reflect the most honost merit promotion this job has seen. Jodi has no idea who anyone is and will have to go off of what he actually sees on paper.

Stay safe troops and have a great New Year

Caluris is as stupid as they come. He makes all supervisors in Narcotics, Vice and Gangs give him a suggestion report every period, AND he does not accept negative reports. He is taking their ideas and marketing them as his. That is really a great trick to make anyone think he has innovative ideas and knows what the fuck he is doing. He has never bought dope or been on one gang intelligence, vice mission/investigation, but he is tasked with overseeing these operations, ensuring officer safety and allocating personnel properly. He has the largest number of inside personnel that any unit has ever seen! Can you believe that? He has teams with no personnel, but he continues to establish new inside investigative and evaluative missions with inside people. Come on Chief Williams and D.S. Grau. Are your eyes even open? Get rid of this idiot or at least call him on this bullshit.

He is using his people's ideas to make him shine and making an investigave unit a unit of house mouses! I hope Jodi is reading!

No one in the right fucking mind is going to apply for the highest cop position if he doesn't know what he's getting into especially all these rogue cops on trial.. I personally won't comment as to whether or not Caluris is a smart guy, as he IS a Deputy Chief, whether we like him there or not (hellooo, Mikey Cronin?).
Personally, I think his questioning of his supervisors of ways to improve what's going on in NAGIS is a good thing. Most bosses won't ask you shit, only give you marching orders. It's good to see a boss actually open to suggestion. I don't have a problem with that at all, and I would think that most forward thinking officers would feel likewise. Do you think Jody won't be asking his exempts what is needed to improve morale and service to the public?

Am I a sissy because I love my kids and my family and have been married for over 20 years and have never messed around on my wife, even when I had the kind of women that go after you throwing it at me?

First let me say, I do work and I don't have to justify it to you. I will still work 9-5 and have weekends off, so piss on that!

As far as Caluris, I think that any boss should ask for input, but not take credit for someone else's ideas. Since he is having them do a TO/FROM, forward the TO/FROM. How about that? Also, how can he really call himself a Deputy Chief. He is really one of the many laughing stocks of the department. Did he ever buy any dope, or for that matter, work in any district on the street level? Isn't he really a Sergeant? He is not even a Lieutenant. Another Cline boy. Guess, all you Cline people better run and hide, Jodi is coming to get you!

By the way, the new Superintendent did not apply for the job, he did not go through the Police Board or any of that. You are really letting your stupidity shine.

To 1-07-2008 5:48pm Sure the new Sup will ask Caluris how to improve morale. Maybe Steve with all his experience will tell him. First, when you are on a gang team get the Sgt.coffee and fix the printer, when you are a Sgt. get the Lt. coffee and fix the computer, when you are a Lt. get Cline some coffee and steal your Sgt.'s ideas about the DOC Center. All the time play with your computer, but NEVER I mean NEVER EVER go on the street and make an arrest. I mean that would be stupid. And that is the key to morale building ala Caluris. Steve is a nice guy, he just never was a police officer.

Now let's see how well he fare's against all those GD's he pistol whipped the shit out of on east 79th St. when he worked security at South Shore HS. Whether he does 2 yrs or 20 yrs he's going to come up against some of the same people he beat the fuck out of for no good reason. Making even seasoned cops sick.
