This is More Like It

A relative, ignorant of police procedure and Department policy, finds a reporter willing to listen:
  • The brother of a 49-year-old man who was holed up in a South Side motel with a gun said he asked to try to talk him out of possibly taking his life. But police negotiators refused, and the man was shot and killed by officers early Friday morning.
For the enlightenment of all ignorant reporters (but we repeat ourselves), no one gets to talk to the subject except the negotiator. The police might attempt to get info from the relatives to use in negotiation, but they don't get to speak to him.

Oh, and if you come out of a hotel room with a gun, expect to get blasted. We still have yet to see the state law that says we have to be shot at to kill some one.

Uh, sorry to tell you SCC, but family members HAVE been allowed to speak to barricaded subjects on some previous incidents (but not placed in a situation where they could be seen by the subject).
It has happened.

Okay, whats the next step? Family files wrongful death suit and the city pays it. Even though the police were in the right. Maybe J-Fed will stick up for the boys and what they did, after all, don't the Feds teach those negotiation tactics?

He didn't follow police orders and he had a gun. The perpetrator, who previously aimed the gun at the motel clerk emerged and was shot.

The policemen were not injured and the perpetrator was killed.

Sounds like a good outcome to me as a civilian.

I feel sorry for the police officers that had no choice but to use lethal force to protect their lives.

Everyone is forgetting that the swat officers that shot that piece of garbage and the rest of the team that was there get to go home to their families and loved ones. God Bless and good job boys.

Candidate for Cook County States Attorney Larry R.U. Suffering-cuz-I'm-dumb says---

Why couldn't they just shoot the gun out of his hands. I saw the Lone Ranger do that on television.

Maybe because he was committing suicide by cop.

And is now thankful that the cops involved were good shots.

As for "...wing him in the arm...", well, take a trip to a gun range, rent a gun, ('cause I know you'd never buy one), buy a hundred rounds and see what it feels like to put holes in paper.

Then, using what imagination you can muster, pretend that the paper is returning fire.
