If you want to streamline the CPD and put necessary officers on the streets eliminate or downsize Unit 189,NAGIS.
This unit is so overblown with over-inflated,clouted egomaniacs it is disgusting. End the take home cars, free gas,4-5 hour workdays in soft clothes with limited to NO ACCOUNTABILITY.
This was and still is Fat Phil's bastion of power and influence. Truly a unit that does not produce quality results and is not efficient.
Either Superintendent Weis is going to take the bull by the horns and lead or he is going to get run over by the scheming status quo.

A Chicago teen was due in court Wednesday on charges he carjacked a vehicle from a 12-year-old boy who was warming the car up for his mother on the West Side, police said.
The 15-year-old offender was charged as an adult with one count of vehicular hijacking, but his identity was not being released because of his age, Chicago police Officer Marcel Bright said.

The incident occurred about 8 a.m. in the 3100 block of West Flournoy Street in the city's Lawndale neighborhood, Bright said. The victim was sitting in a 2002 Nissan, which he had started with the permission of his mother, when the 15-year-old boy approached, armed with a handgun.

Doesn't serving in the arm forces count for anything?
It's the best training a future police officer can receive. Anyone who is a veteran should be promoted, without the politics of who you know or a 2 yr college degree. Serving in the military makes a better police officer then a 2 yr college student. They are trained to police for our nation, and they do a hell of a job.
Instead they are working under people who have no street smarts, do not know how to deal with people, do not show respect to them, and have no idea how to police. Veterans have policed all over this world and have had "A" class training, yet they are told what to do by people with clout and a 2 yr college degree, and "some of them (meaning bosses)have spent limited or no time on the streets of Chicago, so they have no idea of how to be a working police officer."

In response to 3/12/2008 12:06:00 PM. WE have the same problems in 015. It is ridiculous when you have 3 TRU cars down on one arrest. I heard the reason is because TRU is made of so many inexperienced PO's that out of 3 cars only one PO actually knows what's going on. The fault is not of the inexperienced TRU officers, but the fault of those in charge that alllow 2 year wonders with no experience to go to units. I don't care what anyone says, but every PO should remain in a district for at least 4 years before making a move - anywhere!!!! (except for another district). Get the experience first than you will get the respect due.

Interesting,they opted to keep the General Counsel to the Superintendent in house and with someone who is VERY familiar with the disciplinary procedures of the CPD. Very bright move on the administartion's behalf.
This list makes me feel very old,that is all.
There are some good people moving up and around on this list but it seems the department still needs to elevate idiots that have no clue to how to be the police or how to lead. Crump-Hales is one of the most incompetant bosses I have ever worked for and yet she is being given 003. God help the officers that have to work for this clueless piece of work.
I'm also at a loss that the dept still does anything for Walter Green. He does most of his thinking with his little head. If that was his only fault I guess I could understand but he is in no way a good leader.015 is going to be a ghost town in a few months.

016 and 008 are in very capable hands.
Have to admit. Quite a few of the choices for promotions are very good. If J-Fed had a major say in this wave, he picked quite a few bosses who deserved the spot they got. Many of the names are down to earth bosses who were and are still the police. Some of the names remind me of past bosses who were there for you and a pleasure to work for. Few dissapointments, but for the most part it looks like a good start. Hopefully this will stay the trend.
