- Emily Green came to hear about the murder of her son Ruben Ivy. He was shot Friday outside Crane High School just after classes let out. The mother of the accused killer -- Crane student Devonte Smith, 15 -- came to hear the allegations against her son.
- Smith and Ivy have juvenile criminal histories, a source said. Smith had 15 arrests for offenses including aggravated assault with a weapon, domestic violence, mob action, marijuana possession, and aiding and abetting the sale of a stolen vehicle, the source said. Ivy had been accused of mob action, criminal damage to property, criminal trespass, gambling and marijuana possession.
And the payoff?
- Coincidentally, Emily Green said she still carries a bullet from when she was shot in the head and foot in a disturbance that broke out at Crane when she was a student there in 1984.
Expect a very long hot and bloody summer.

Almost every kid at Crane H.S has a criminal record and therefore, their lost souls. This is not a black or white thing people. The before mentioned schools also have African American students. A good handful of these kids are thugs and not at Crane to learn. Problem is that the rest of the student body and staff are afraid to step up and call them what they are "THUGS". I am quite sure this incident did not occur because of something that happened right after school. Like Bill Cosby said: Black America needs to take responsibility! I'm dissapointed if it is true that Lt. Eric Carter is not coming to 22. No matter what anyone can say about him, they cannot say he is not the police. My old man worked with him in 4, and he has nothing but good things to say. The sad thing is that my community which encompasses Beverly and Mt. Greenwood is really going to shit, noone wants to admit it. The last 3 Commanders were more of politicians than the police. Crime is on the rise and my home is my retirement paycheck.

They hold the police responsible for preventing violence ("[the cops] could have made that crowd move"), then complain when police actually DO SOMETHING, like make a crowd of kids move! (The police are unfairly targeting kids/ minorities/ boys/ etc.!)
The thing is, nothing is going to change until the people causing the problems change themselves.

In a separate matter, the committee advanced a proposed $195,000 settlement with a man who alleged in a federal lawsuit that Chicago police threatened him with a running chain saw and downloaded pornography onto his computer in what he said was an episode of abuse at a South Side public housing complex on Sept. 16, 2004.
There were conflicting accounts of what happened after the three plainclothes officers named in the suit responded to what they said were reports of drug-selling, according to city lawyers. People with apartments nearby reported hearing no chain-saw noise, though others farther away did.
An expert hired by the cityconcluded that no pornography was downloaded onto the computer of the plaintiff, Lloyd Haywood, who was not injured during the incident. None of the officers has been disciplined.

Im responding to the copper that posted about the st baldricks event at the academy this friday. It raises money for childrens cancer research and only 120 CPD members have signed up to do it. CFD had 450 guys and raised $84,000 I dont understand how with at least 9-10k (or as the city claims 13,500)of us we could only get 120 guys to sign up. Please go to www.stbaldricks.org and register. Even if you dont want to have your head shaved you can donate money under the Chicago Police Dept and at least make us look good. so far CPD has raised $34,000. Lets make a last minute push, today is tuesday and the event is friday. If you cant donate to childrens cancer research what can u donate to? Im not saying everyone can afford to give a lot, everyones situation is different. But even if 1000 guys give $25 thats $25,000 Time to step up to the plate guys, we have too many new pretty boy coppers that are afraid of what they will look like with a shaved head, these sick kids dont have a choice in the matter and some have to face their peers everyday at an age when kids can be very cruel. Cameras all went down 1st watch, why wasn't it corrected immediately, because all the guys in charge of them were all out on Operation Closed Market. Sounds ridiculous but there are only 3 guys and a SGT in the unit on midnights, they have rotating RDOs so probably even less were available for OCM. So the city put officers on the street and in the mean time a multimillion dollar surviellance system became a multimillion dollar waste. OCM is awesome we took officers and put them back on the street where they're needed. Put the genius behind this operation in for a major award.
As a civilian, I can't wait to get my CCP, let's see 'em try to rob me on the train.

Homicides are up across the nation, what matters now is which City's superintendint (chief, whatever) makes theirs' go down. If NYC reverses their rate then J-fed will look bad, but if Chicago's rate drops and NYC, LA etc continue (all are currently about the same (same % increase over last year)) to be above last year JFed will be the national hero of LE.

That crazy ass truck you saw was the M.E.R.V (mobile emergency response vehicle) It is part of T.R.U. Vehicle was donated by Brinks some years ago.It has cones vests and other useless shit. off topic;i was in branch 62-2 which is 555 w.harrison on fri.had my truck towed from clinton st.i confronted the tow driver,he stated to just go to central pound and talk to his supervisor and that i would get my truck back....yeah right....when i got to the pound after paying a taxi cab $12.00,the supervisor told me to call my commander and have him faxed over a letter stating where and what times i was at 555 w.harrison,like i was going to do that.so by the end of the day i ended up paying $160.00 for tow,$60.00 for parking citation,THANKS ALOT MR./MS.TRAFFIC AID #369...so boys and girls becarful when u guys go to court at 555 w.harrison.ON A GOOD NOTE AT LEAST I RECIEVED A CONTINOUSE ON MY CASE.

Its the MERV. Not sure what it means. It was donated to CPD and used by TRU. It's not an HBT vehicle. It's more of an "Incident Response" vehicle that can be called out by any district. It carries stuff incidents like when the gas pipeline blew up a big chunk of the Ford City parking lot. It's also for protection and removing wounded in active shooter situations, like the LA bank shoot out, etc.
Naperville High Schools, the Lincoln-way High Schools out in the southwest-burbs, Hinsdale, Orland, Lockport High Schools, etc; etc; etc; and many other examples of High Schools will NEVER NEED this type of police response. Why you ask?? Well, because tax-paying mostly non-black students go to these schools. When are black leaders going to wake up and see how the thugery and ghetto-fabulous culture so embraced by the black community is what keeps these people down. "Whitey" has nothing to do with these little savages killing each other. Other than the rare "high profile" Columbine type incidents, non-black schools do not have this type of chaos. This isn't racism, it's being realistic. Listen to what Bill Cosby has been saying for years. That truck belongs to TRU, it was donated to the CPD by a security company, and has over 500,000 miles on it. It gets wonderful gas mileage. It is not a SWAT truck.
Once again HBT is a job type, not a unit name.

INDEED! 010 and 011 already have over 8 homicides each. I think 10 just got...10 the other night.
And let's not forget, 002, 006, 008, 009 and 025 already have over 5 homicides a piece. I'm sure 003, 004, 005 and 007 will be in the race soon enough.

There were a ton of educational requirements UNLESS you had experience in law enforcement. Worth a try. Their Chief of Sec. worldwide is former Ill law enforcement.
I didn't even know CPD was involved with St. Baldricks. I donated to CFD two months ago when relatives and neighbors were working on this. They were just a few of hundreds that worked on it. Why did CPD wait til a week before to let anyone know. Some of us have lost family members to childhood luekemia and would have been happy to help out.

It means that your heart is still caring enough to be hurt by something happening to one of your loved ones.
But it's not-so-good, because we know that you meant, "I couldn't care less." (I'm afraid for you.)
If you really think that you can discount the tremendous sadness that would normally occur in a human being, when informed that another person was killed, then you are on a slippery slope of denial.
Sure, it's a little easier to leave your own home and children, when you BELIEVE that nothing is going to happen TO THEM, because they are in a "better" neighborhood, they are "better" people etc.
But I have to tell you that even "the best" families suffer deadly tragedies.
Being understanding about the sorrow and grief that the boy's mother is going through is not a sign of weakness. You CAN have some sympathy for her, and for the rest of the boy's family AND still be good cop.

Heard she chased one on foot who had jumped out of a window until she and the tac guys caught him.
