I was in the academy with John Kenny. He was a class act then and still is. He's always been very knowledgeable, but unlike some people, he doesn't lord that over you. SCC, I have a favor. I know how many coppers read this blog, me being one of probably thousands. This coming friday march 14th at the Chicago Police Academy, they will be shaving heads as part of the st baldricks day event. All donated money for this event goes to research for childhood cancer. God forbid any of us have a child that gets cancer, or has cancer currently, i know it must mean a lot to these families to know so many people are raising money on their behalf. Last year according to their website, 18,000 people across the USA shaved their heads collecting 12.8 million dollars for this cancer research. I have registered for the event at www.stbaldricks.org and they will have many professional barbers and hair people at the academy on friday shaving heads from 0600 until 1700 giving ALL of us an opportunity to get there. this is the first year I have signed up but i hope to do this every year in the future. Too many people are worried about shaving their head for any amount of time but these poor kids lose their hair while battling a life threatening illness and have to be so strong to get through it, I believe its the least we can do. The fire department raised $84,000 for their event last week and so far the CPD has raised $34,000. Lots of us talk shit about firemen on here, some jokingly some not so much, but lets use this as an opportunity to beat them for a great cause. Hey lets not forget, our hair can grow back and many of these children may not be so fortunate. Its a small sacrifice for a GREAT cause. We have been looked on negatively in the press in many ways but we all know that when it comes to children and elderly we always have a soft spot in our hearts. At least go to the website and see what its all about. We post for signatures for Mette, which was great and I signed, but this too is a cause that we should push for a few days and see how much we can in fact raise. Lots of negatives are posted here, lets see if we can go a few days and raise some money for these kids. I am donating $150.00, some my own and some from a few sponsors. I got started late but if even if 2000 more coppers sign up and can give $100 each, thats 200k raised for something I hope and pray not 1 of us ever has to go through! And lets challenge the new superintendant to do the same along with his command staff. If you want good press, now is the time to get it!

Where and who do we mail the resumes to now that we are going "legit"?
Should I get a headhunter to assist me in my career advancement within the CPD?
Should I help others prepare for their interviews that have no clue? (For example, instead of having a study group for some "goofball" test I will have a Interview Training Course!)
Should I charge $20.00 per person or $40.00 for my profit after helping all these "buffooned" officers (like the ones that paid for all the study courses for the "legit" tests before)? Oh and FYI, it will be an invitation only for the interview group that will be held on Saturday nights to weed out the less serious.
Should I devise a service to type an officers' resume for them since many have no clue what one is?
(Bernstein courses and resume assistance would probably cost $300.00 or more so..... I'll be way cheaper)
Should I hold "stress courses" on how to be dumped and in the doghouse?
Should I teach phys. ed and good eating habits to the men and women in law enforcement that are "not so good with the fork"?
Can it be that with all the changes going on here for a more professional atmosphere, that we are not perceived as professional as we once thought we were? WOW! Blindsided by the "G"!
Another thing, like the many "honest bosses and coppers" before me that made a "profit" on the rest of the policemen that were feeble minded and naive into donating $ for some BS thing or joining a "study group" in the past......Why can't I do the same and "rip off" the hard working police oficer as they struggle with their delusions (sp) of grandeur, by teaching classes and non-sense or conning them into raffles and benefits too?

Kentucky Lawmaker Wants to Make Anonymous Internet Posting Illegal

Kentucky Representative Tim Couch filed a bill this week to make anonymous posting online illegal.
The bill would require anyone who contributes to a website to register their real name, address and e-mail address with that site.
Their full name would be used anytime a comment is posted.
If the bill becomes law, the website operator would have to pay if someone was allowed to post anonymously on their site. The fine would be five-hundred dollars for a first offense and one-thousand dollars for each offense after that.
Representative Couch says he filed the bill in hopes of cutting down on online bullying. He says that has especially been a problem in his Eastern Kentucky district.
Action News 36 asked people what they thought about the bill.
Some said they felt it was a violation of First Amendment rights. Others say it is a good tool toward eliminating online harassment.
Represntative Couch says enforcing this bill if it became law would be a challenge.

I'm dissapointed if it is true that Lt. Eric Carter is not coming to 22. No matter what anyone can say about him, they cannot say he is not the police. My old man worked with him in 4, and he has nothing but good things to say. The sad thing is that my community which encompasses Beverly and Mt. Greenwood is really going to shit, noone wants to admit it. The last 3 Commanders were more of politicians than the police. Crime is on the rise and my home is my retirement paycheck. If things keep going the way they are going, we are all going to be some unhappy campers at the end of the day.
Jfed, if you do read, please give us a real policeman who will not be afraid to make the lazy police who bid to 22 work their beats and do their fucking jobs instead of hanging out in the nice restaurants, going home and staying away from the crime. NEWSFLASH: The Lt.s list is not coming down. It may not have been the best way to do things but in the end it was fair. Nobody had the answers and everyone was afforded a second chance to take it. Think what you want but next time study harder. Every test is not rigged just because you did not do well. Get your facts straight. Everyone was afforded the same oppurtunities. Wasn't that the point, to stop all of the drinking at the parade? people in the neighborhood are deluged with drunks pissing on their lawns, walking into their houses as if they lived there, numerous hit and run traffic accidents from the drunks hitting cars as they leave, fights everywhere. They did what they were supposed to do, stop as much drinking as possible. From the sound of it, they didn't lock you up, so you caught a break.
You wouldn't have been the PO on the float drinking even after being told to dump it by the Acting Commander, and nearly getting your float kicked out by the parade marshalls for it? Or perhaps the PO who wanted to fight Skahill's driver after being told to drop it? Maybe even the PO who flashed his badge on his belt after the Acting Commander told him to dump it, rather than getting locked up?
The police can really be our own worst enemies. A number of them showed it at the parade. Thank you to everyone who helped, or at the very least was respectful when told to dump it.

You have to understand, the trooper is probably looking to get promoted and we all know that seat belt tickets are the answer to all of society's ills. I've got something that's not a lie or a rumour. Everyone that worked the St.Patricks Day Parade did an outstanding job. If I knew it was going to be that nice I would have gone for the first time in years. Although it's only about 150 feet from my house, I'm always afraid to leave it because I have to protect my property and being 100% irish, the association disgusts me. Just a nasty, drunken, gross pigfest which was getting worse every year. CPD you outdid yourselves. Shone bright like the stars you are! I truly agree those little arrests were the way to go. The fireman next door told me that when the buffoons saw that, they started clearing out. They knew you weren't playing. First time in over twenty years I didn't have to clean and rake my yard. not what I saw. Im cpd and yes i proudly was there and yes i proudly was intoxicated. I saw complete madness with 4X4 tina skahill running around trying to lock everyone up... then a kid about 16yrs old just ran from her and she attempted to run but after 3 steps you could tell she was completly embarressed... the entire parade along western ave was ok, not to bad, but artesian and campbell were absolute madhouses... fights, pissing, drinking, can and bottle throwing... i dont know what you were lookin at buddy.

Telling someone to "Kiss my ass" and acting in the manner of anyone who would actually say that in public to anyone for any reason is the exact OPPOSITE of what should be promoted to Captain. There is something to be said for diplomacy in dealing with the public, politicians, and especially DEPARTMENT members.
Telling ANYONE to "kiss my ass" violates a few of our rules and regs and totally brings discredit onto our department and the city as a whole.

It IS based upon common sense and dealing with other peoples problems. This is achieved with years of experience.

I've got something that's not a lie or a rumour. Everyone that worked the St.Patricks Day Parade did an outstanding job. If I knew it was going to be that nice I would have gone for the first time in years. Although it's only about 150 feet from my house, I'm always afraid to leave it because I have to protect my property and being 100% irish, the association disgusts me. Just a nasty, drunken, gross pigfest which was getting worse every year. CPD you outdid yourselves. Shone bright like the stars you are! I truly agree those little arrests were the way to go. The fireman next door told me that when the buffoons saw that, they started clearing out. They knew you weren't playing. First time in over twenty years I didn't have to clean and rake my yard. Thank you!

I saw complete madness with 4X4 tina skahill running around trying to lock everyone up... then a kid about 16yrs old just ran from her and she attempted to run but after 3 steps you could tell she was completly embarressed... the entire parade along western ave was ok, not to bad, but artesian and campbell were absolute madhouses... fights, pissing, drinking, can and bottle throwing... i dont know what you were lookin at buddy.

She told him that his tactical teams did not reflect the complexion of the district and he needed to make some changes. For starters: The new Supe should be a "ride along" for a full tour on the 3rd watch in the middle of 90 degree summer night, esp. Fri or Sat in 11th and 7th district (in a district squad, preferably a pool car, not his own brand spankin new veh). Then he should do a full tour of midnights in lock-up on a hot summer night in a ghetto district .
Next, do a few full 8 hour tours with the dics who handle the murders in the ghetto, grab a few suspects and don't forget the 48 hour hold.
Also with the dics, handle the armed robberies and agg bats and a big MUST is going to every domestic call dealing with the honor students and their extended families, i.e., drunk and strung out mommas, aunties and uncles who just got released from IDOC.
The bullshit remark about Rayl being incompetent justifies why most of the postings on this site cannot be believed. Ask any of the hundreds of police officers and supervisors that have honorable worked for him under his command and they will tell you the truth!

Kid was a complete A-hole. With a large group of gang bangers that call themselves "MIDWAYBOY'S" all wearing T-shirts that read "I came here to do two things. Drink some beer and kick some ass. Before he was locked up he and his group were starting fights on the side streets and then in the park. After he was locked his group started another fight in the park. to wit: A wanna be tough guy that was 19 y.o. beating on a 14 year old from Beverly. They were problems from the minute the parade ended. Also the punk was not from Garfireld ridge closer to Chrysler Village.
