Spring Ahead

Daylight Savings Time starts three weeks early this year. We had forgotten until the Watch Commander told us we'd all be working a seven hour shift tonight. Which makes up for the nine hour one we did this past fall.

Another hour of daylight for CPS honor students to kill each other.

Speaking of students killing each other: that Crane high school incident Friday; wasn't somebody
beaten w/a golf club?
Was the club legally obtained? Was it registered? If it was stolen, did the victim report it?Did the offender have a GPLC(golf players license card)?
Whoes that pro golfer I saw on 60 minutes 2 years back; the heavy white guy who smokes, drinks beer/
whiskey, doesn't work out? Could he be supplying these bangers w/golf clubs?
WE MUST BAN GOLF!!!! and save the children...............

hey j-fed, i worked out after work today. i did a bunch of 12 ounce curls with both hands. then i did a power squat. then i sat in the middle of the living room floor and did some verbal judo exercises. when i woke up this morning i could barely move. pain is weakness leaving my body. time to hit the medical--big time lactic acid buildup.

How many more 18, 19, and 20 year old freshman will we lose this year. It is just tragic they all have just turned their lives around and were aspiring rappers and basketball players.

Word in 35th St HQ is that J-Fed is considering the idea of bringing back an SOS type of unit...NOT TRU...to combat the guns and dope on the street.
You see, you cannot kill that which does not wish to die...long live SOS....even if you just change the name!

Dear Supt. Weis,
I have been a policeman for 31 years. I decided to be a policeman when I was 8 and realized my dream when I was 21. I have spent all those years in district law enforcement. Never worked in a unit and never wanted to. I have worked in the ghetto and in some posh areas. Here are a few of the things that you will never be able to experience that make the street cop. You have never stood in a dark alley holding back a rabid crowd at a police shooting while the punk that tried to kill your partner and lost is writhing on the ground waiting for the CFD to finally show up. You have never given CPR to a 2month old baby that was smothered when its crack addict mother rolled over on her in bed. You have never run up 14 flights of piss covered stairs to help a copper wrestling for his life. You have never walked a beat in a marginal neighborhood and enjoyed conversations with average working class people who are glad to see you staring down the neighborhood punks. You have never heard the blessed sound of the sirens approach as your buddies respond to your 10-1. You have never had to bag the maggot covered body of some poor lonely soul that died alone and wasn't found for a week. Nor have you had to pick up the pieces of some other mangled mope who was torn apart by a train. Have you ever talked someone into going to the hospital rather than ending their life? How many of your friends have been murdered by street punks over the years? How many of your co-workers have lost all hope and killed themselves. I have been sued and I have sued the city. I've been in court all day for a week at a time and still made it to my midnight shifts. I've worked when the temperature was 26 below zero and when it was 103 above. I've waded through hip deep snow because the squad car couldn't get me to that call for help. Fortunately I've never been seriously hurt, but I've had plenty of friends who have. Police work is a calling. It takes a lot more than pretty muscles and a law book. I am proud to be a CHICAGO POLICE OFFICER. My uniform may be too tight now but I still belong in it. You are not a police officer. You are a police administrator. Put your suit back on and get us the things we need to do our job. Don't put on a street copper's uniform and pound the podium at Daley's fake anti-violence ralleys. Leave the police work to us and we will leave the paper pushing to you.

More laws, more laws, we need more laws!

That murder law sure seems to work well.

I know, increase the safe school zone around schools.

Begin curfew at 15:00hrs and raise the age to 27 yoa.

I think dude with the club is in for a law suit, it's reported he didn't yell fore.

Applaud where your heart is, but a blog entry does not equate to a vote. Lord and SCC probably know how many people post entries that really are a waste of electrons.

Even though we're in Chicago, we would screw up the petition if they find we signed more than once. So I look for the updates (hint). Do something more productive, like passing the word.

To 3:39;
You asked why 100 posts for P/O Mike Mette, and 400 for "night of the long knives".
Look around at work. Wonder about the "morale". People crying about this person gets dumped, that one has clout. And the list goes on!
The answer is sadly pathetic: NO ONE GIVES A FUCK ANYMORE!
You're damn right, there should be 12000 posts on that petition, but find me 12000 cops that care anymore. Everyone in my family signed the petition, and we don't even know Mike, just of his unfortunate circumstance.
Then we think we have the right to bitch to some "want to be the police" Fed on our uniform about what he's going to do about the morale around here? Some of us need to use the next uniform/duty/OT check to go out and purchase a fucking clue!

I've got caught by the Indiana State Police, speeding 20+over trying to make it back for roll call after being caught in nasty traffic coming from my place in Michigan,,,guy actually apologized for delaying me.

The copper coming from the boats must have had a 'tude. 4th District and Skyway officers are always backing up Indiana SP on 90 all the time right by the border.

An Iowa trooper took down the biggest asshole LT ever to be on this job on a perjury rap. That was a good job!!

got pulled over by the indiana state police also a month back. Had to no problem. i never even mentioned I'm a cop. hand them license, insurance with ID card underneath. They wished me a nice day. My guess is that tact guy had an attitude. Pulled over hundreds of CPD coppers through the years. Never wrote one a ticket, but damn did I want too at times.

Stragely though I stopped an indiana trooper and told him the story he thought he was getting a ticket but sorry I cannot ticet another copper> Just because Sunir was a jagoff I did not want to be a jagoff also!

I don't believe for one second the the Mayor gives a rats ass about dope or guns. All he cares about is revenue. I do believe he will form another unit. A TRU North. A TRU South. They generate revenue with those seat belt checks. He'll have them doing drinking checks next. I have no personal interest in this matter. I'm retiring in 21 days. Olympics, Olympics, Olympics. He is going to turn out to be the Mayors version of Mrs. O'Learys cow. Some business's will stay til after the olympics, but once they're over so will they be. Indiana, Michigan and Ohio are offering tax incentives to any new business's regardless of size that relocate to those states. The 6% tax is also a plus. Blue Islands Western Ave is already losing two business's a WEEK for the last 6 weeks. Not rentals, the buildings are for sale. Whats the difference between a cop that robs dope dealers and a mayor and a county leader that conspire to skim money from the taxpayers already meager net incomes. (after taxes, huge mortgages, tuitions, outrageous homeowner/auto, ins.,10.25 sales tax, jacked up utilities, cable TV? (what? Did I buy stock?), city stickers, state auto stickers, now I gotta pay more of my medical bills and prescriptions so I often don't go to the Dr. when I'm sick. WHEN WILL IT END? I think I would do better on some kind of aid. After these Olympics Daley will pack his shit and leave. We will be stuck with all of this.

There has to be more to this story.
I have dealt with a lot of Indiana S.P. They are nothing but cool. More than several years ago, I had a run in with one old timer near Merrilville. U-turn on interstate after misssing the exit. Totally wrong in this one. He stopped me. I explained that I was lost, next thing you know he says "I'll give you the right directions after I'm finished with the ticket". Dang. Lesson learned.
I was informed recently that they DO have a policy to write tickets. Quota. It's mandatory to write a ticket or 2 for traffic crashes. Like most other places, they are writing for revenue.

There are no seat belt checks there so give it a rest will ya; the only unit doing any kind of roadside checks is the traffic unit using federal money for DUI saturation on teh weekends. The other traffic unit TTU(targeted Traffic Unit) does the Lidar guns all over the city.
