Mette Petition - Again

We aren't going to stick it as the top post for a week again. But we're going to ask that if you haven't already signed the electronic petition, CLICK HERE and do so. We've hit a plateau of 8,600 plus. It really won't take that much extra effort to push it over 10,000.

Forward the link, remind your friends, let people know. It's a small gesture.

If anyone lives near a suburban police station, can you go there and tell a few cops about the petition and ask if they'll sign and post the address for SCC's site? I already went to Blue Island PD.

After eating dinner in Barrington Hills tonight I stopped by the Barrington Hills police dept. to ask for help with the petition. They told me they don't get involved with that type of "crimminal matters" and that Chicago cops made their own problems.

I just read and signed the petition and supporting information. I was dismayed at what I read. I am a Police Officer from Detroit who has been to your City many times. The members of your Dept. that I have had contact with have all been a class act. Never let it be said that CPD doesn't respect the badge. I am even more shocked at the reluctance of some members of law enforcement who don't want to get involved. For whatever it's worth I'll spread the word around here and get some signatures. I hope my signature helps.

If we would stick together we could have 50,000 votes. But look at how we have let the fop and city crap all over us. We don't even defend ourselves. We are to busy trying to stab each other in the back for that cushy spot.

We could bring daley, fop and the city to their knees over a contract if we juct stuck together.

We should do what they did to guiliani in New York. Flood the courts with arrests. Block traffic during rush hour to write a ticket causing grid lock. Back the whole damn city up.

But nooooooooo we choose to bitch like little girls when we get screwed over all the while not doing a damn thing about it.

People, this is a total waste of time. Sure, it makes you feel good, like you've done something to help but the majority of the names are BULLSH*T...........don't kid yourselves!

I'm a fireman in a south suburb east of I-57. I know that a lot of coppers dont like firemen and vice versa. The Mike Mette case truly disturbs me. I hope this helps.

To 2.47am,,,,,,,,are you also the guy who got the ticket in Barrington Hills for 7 over a couple of weeks back?

Do you have relatives up that way? There isn't much in the way of commercial business in that town.

If you don't have friends/relatives there, you seem to spend a lot of time up that way in a zip code that is way above your pay grade.

I think you are full of shit.

I don't see them saying that, I could see them giving lip service to you, but I don't see them saying that statement to you.

That really really sucks! But it's not surprising... when I came on, most of the people from the burbs (coppers included) I knew were like "heck yeah, cpd! the real police! Good move!" NOW? most are like "CPD? That's to bad... are you looking elsewhere?". My how perception has changed in 15 years..

Screw them, onto to the next town then. Don't forget venues where large groups of security guards work. They're very sympathetic to police.

And how do you know that the majority of names are bullshit?

Of course, there are some fake names on there. However, the Hampton petition worked. One police family emailed me from Scotland, and gave me their address & phone. They called Mayor Daley (5) times in one day.

Chicago is the city of NO SHOULDERS. The city is this way because of the lack of Chicagoans actually getting together to make positive changes here.

Michael's new home is a very little cell. This is all due to the fact that he defended himself. He's lost a lot of weight, has very little contact outside of this place, looks different, and has new rules he has to live by. Let's see how you and your family feel god forbid this happens to you and NOBODY HELPS YOU OUT.

This city has gone down the toilet because of people caring only about THEMSELVES. Same with the thin blue line here...

sad

I know the BHPD. They are hired from other pd's because the village won't spend to send then to an academy. Most were former security guards, park dist. policemen and college cops.
In their defense they don't have to deal with real crime and for the most part, don't know how. Police courtesy is foreign to most of them. They are not held in high esteem by the surronding burbs. They think nothing of writing a cops family so why not a cop. They don't need glocks, they just need bic pens because that is their primary weapon of defense.
Other than that their nice guys. lol

I am number 8890. Stop bashing the burb cops. Some of us have family who work for CPD. Some of us live in the city. Some of us actually do real work, seeing that all the trash is coming west. Though I dont know Mike personally, I feel bad for him and its a fucked up situation. I will try and spread the word. (not all of us are jag offs. except for maybe Barrington. ;)

I am not a police officer but I live in Barrington. Barrington Hills PD is not respected by the residents or the other police officers in the area. They will hide behind trees (on foot with hand held radar) and jump out and wave you down to give you a ticket. God help the poor fool that forgot to use his seat belt!
I have heard of tickets for 5 miles an hour over but I have never been stopped by them.
It's like the police department on the Andy Griffith show, friendly but totaly inept.

To the Barrington civilian:

Thanks for your input. They better not try that with some of our citizens(waving cars down)that may be passing thru your town. Weve got people that'll backup over their ran-over bodies. The crap their pulling only works with civilized people.

I work on the Milwaukee PD. If someone jumps in front of my car on the way home form work I pray their insurance is paid up.
Whats wrong with this Barrington Hills p.d. that everyone hates them so much?
Some real police department guys (cpd) should have a talk with these mutts and find out what they don't like about other pd's!
Boys, we don't eat our young or let farm boy coppers write our families!!!

leomemorial,

Don't despair. I believe that people ARE starting to come together for Mike Mette.

I signed the petition and sent the link to family. I also mailed a letter today to the parole board, for Mike's April 16 hearing.

Good luck to Mike and his family on April 16!

I don't mind signing a petition, but if the petition organizers mean for it to be taken seriously they really should keep a consistent watch on it, and consider immediately removing such endorsers as "Barack Obama", "George Ryan" and "Charles Manson". Come on guys, this is serious business. This poor guy is sitting in the shithouse over political corruption, take the petition seriously or take it down.
