More Tax Money Pissed Away
This so called "federal monitor" seems to be nothing more than a tool to funnel money to politically connected people who's connection may have failed them at some point:
Chicago aldermen ridiculed and condemned a federal hiring monitor on Friday for awarding $75,000 to the son of the City Council's elder statesman as compensation for a 2003 aldermanic election that was stacked against him.
Jay Stone, son of Ald. Bernard Stone (50th), got one of the biggest chunks of a $12 million fund created to compensate victims of City Hall's rigged hiring system.
Ridiculous. And we heard a bunch more connected people got payouts because as political animals to begin with, they were the only people who could prove politics had anything to do with them being denied opportunities.

Forget FOP, city got caught using clout. Civilian jobs in CPD. Commanders ignored all rules and used politics and clout to hire civilians. At least they got something. Clout is not dead but more covert.

This city has been plying games for years. If the city does not lioke what they see on the they now have 30% metit.
That is way to much. Since 1998 many P.O.s got passed over for well deserved promotions.
The city wanted meritorious and said they would use it to strike a balance for any racial disparities (What a crock of shit). Most of the people that received meritorious promotions are white males who know how to suck ass.
Minorities have received nothing. Those of us that do OK on tests get passed over because of those that play the political game.
Well I guess that some that bothered to put forth the effort to put together a claim managed to get some award. Probably only a small portion of what they should have received if the city would do things right in the first places.
Best wishes to those that got a part of the pie. I hope that the city see to it that they do thing right but the 12M is merely hush money. The corruption will remain, I'll bank on that.
Jody, You do not have to adhear to the 30%. Unless of course city hall is telling you too. Promote the people that realy deserve it. Not those that are suck holes. Boost up the supervisor ranks so that you can leave your mark on this great department and start promoting some people that possess some intellegence.

Included are those who have been harmed by the misuse of government employees in campaigning activities when said activities are not authentically voluntary.
