Someone Stop This Now Please

  • Public boarding schools where homeless children and those from troubled homes could find the safety and stability to learn are being pursued by Chicago Public Schools officials.
  • Chicago Public Schools chief Arne Duncan said he does not want to be in the "parenting" business, but he worries that some homes and some neighborhoods are unsafe, making education an afterthought.
  • "Some children should not go home at night; some of them we need 24-7," he told the Tribune. "We want to serve children who are really not getting enough structure at home. There's a certain point where dad is in jail or has disappeared and mom is on crack ... where there isn't a stable grandmother, that child is being raised by the streets."
Doesn't want to be in the parenting business, but claims certain kids "should not go home at night."

This is insanity. Publicly funded day AND night care? Meals? Shelter? Aren't we already doing way to much of that via our already overburdened taxes? And now Arne wants to take full possession of children?

Further proof of the insanity of Chicago pols.

Like the CPS is doing a stellar job at instilling ethical values and intelligent thinking skills in the students that are already compelled, by law and economic circumstance, to attend these state indoctrination institutions.

There should be no government owned and operated schools, only tax supported vouchers provided to those whose incomes fall below a certain level, calculated on a number of children of school age to total family yearly income basis.

Let families have access to the choices a free market of education will offer them, still partially or fully financed by taxes, but not controlled by any forces other than those of free market competition.

Provide the incentive of not-for-profit, (tax free), status to any organization operating educational facilities, create a voluntary, non-profit co-operative of private schools, with or without the use of the actual facilities currently owned and operated by the CPS, encourage each neighborhood to support it's own, local school alliances, removing the political combine from the equation of 'public' education.

Sorry, Arne, if this would mean you're out of work.

You know how it is, times are tough all over.

Fine, but then they have to do W-O-R-K!

That will teach them about the importance of WORKING for a living. Some thing mama sure did not teach them.

Actually, it wouldn't be a bad idea. We are already overworked to the gills picking up and processing kids that no one wanted to raise. Getting these at risk kids away from neighborhoods where their chances of growing up to be well educated and productive members of society will only benefit EVERYONE. I say, give it a try. Lots of people who have kids are unfit to raise them, or the neighborhood they grow up in sucks them in, and spits them out as little Capones. These at risk kids that don't have a chance usually grow up to cost up all...in prisons, courts, manpower needed to track them, home monitoring, halfway houses, probation staff, etc. It wouldn't hurt to give this idea a try. And yes, I'm a cop who works in one of the neighborhods I described in the post.

Did anyone read the the "chicago Fibune's" story yesterday by Carlos Sadovi? (csadovi@tribune.com)

Look at the bar graphs that explain how "overqualified" the CPS students are.

Are these the same students that should not go home?

Why are we always getting mixed signals?

It takes a village to raise a kid?

It should read it takes a village idiot. The idea of boarding schools to save all our honor students is totally fucked up. How about instilling values like responsibility, work ethic, overcoming adversity at home instead of letting the gov't solve your problems. Daley is the village idiot here. After a year or two you will have the allegations of sexual abuse in the "boarding schools" by teachers, junior will be out unning the streets after curfew and get lit up by his gang rival. LaKeesha will get pregnant at "school" at age 13. And the taxpayers will foot the bill. What a disaster. Kill this idea now.

The proposed Duncan Plan for residenital schools is the best innovative solution for a major issue yet suggested. We as a society have to promote stability for youth and foster education. When that basic foundation is absent from disfunctional homes, this plan will offer a responsible solution. It will be expensive, but it is better than simply washing our hands of this unmet need. Better to work with these kids now than when they become a police problem and a more sexpensive criminal burden to society. In addition, many children are homeless becuase they are gay/lesbian and disowned by the parents. Others are homeless because of drug use at home. Some have chosen the street because it is a better alternative than "home." These kids are not running to something, they are running from something bad. But, we can help these youth and foster responsible adults.

Why why why do we keep paying for irresponsible people who cannot take care of their own children? How about lowering our taxes and stop supporting government incentives for welfare bums to do nothing. Why should they aspire to do better, they are being handed everything on our tax paying backs. CPS should stick to educating not social work. Are the parents of the kids who will go to these schools going to have thier gov. assist. checks cut due to the fact someone else is taking care of them now? Meanwhile, the taxpaying parents of Chicago continue to get shit and the least amount of money to their area public schools.

I think this is a great idea. It's better to set them on the right track when they're young.

Think of it this way: either you pay a bit early on, get them properly educated, and help them avoid a life of crime, OR you cops will be dealing with them for the next 50 years of their lives, and they will waste a whole lot of your time and the taxpayers' dollars.

I'd rather have them get it right from the beginning. Think of it as thug-prevention.

And you figure that this city's government, via the CPS conglomerate, is going to 'get it right' with these 'disadvantaged' children?

What examples are these kids going to be exposed to?

The example of being totally under the thumb of a government agency?

The example of being completely beholden to those in charge of said government agency?

Said individuals in charge being whom?

And being chosen by whom?

Using what standards for said choosing?

Are you really so stupid as to believe that the very city government liars, cheaters and manipulators who lie and cheat and manipulate 'daley' are going to have a positive influence on those children being effectively held prisoners within this compulsory system, which would effectively be a system of orphanages?

And being held prisoners without having committed criminal acts deserving of incarceration?

In effect being forced to be the property of the state, a reality already seen in the 'former' communist Soviet Union and the currently communist China and North Korea?

Are you really that stupid and/or that dishonest?

Trouble is all they will learn is that hand outs are easier than working and they will be learning it even earlier than ever. It does not take a village to raise a child. It takes two good parents. A village does not raise the feral, forgotten children of Austin & Englewood. The murderous and thug filled streets do. Thats one of the main problems, not that you would see that in Evanston.

Listen smartass, I have friends that are teachers in the CPS system. You want to know what they tell me? The stories are shocking.
Kids starting kindergarten who do not even know what their last name is. Kids that shit their pants in class (and not by accident). Relatives (not parents) that come up to school in their pajamas, robes, slippers because mama/daddy ain't around. Parents that come to school that are drunk to pick up their kids. Things that would make civilized people cringe. It's a well known dirty little secret. These kids that come out of college with their teaching degree ready to make a difference last 1-2years tops and get the fuck out. One new teacher was told by the principal to stop calling parents, to stop sending kids to the office and stop bothering her.

Man, I would love to see 20-20 doing something on THAT. But no, "blacks don't air they dirty laundry in public." God for fucking bid they take responsibility for the animals they are spawning. It takes a village is a fucking joke.

So, "think of it this way"...it don't start at school, pal. It starts at home. I take care of my shit. They need to take care of theirs. I don't ask anybody to help me and I shouldn't have to help someone who refuses to fulfill the responsibilities and obligations that they created.

Cut the motherfuckers off the dole. That's the only way.

Here's a simple and effective way to ensure no one need go hungry:

1. Eliminate all tax funds being doled out as spendable by the recipients.

2. Utilize those unemployed and receiving 'aid' to repair/remodel/build food distribution and cafeteria style dining centers, located strategically throughout those areas currently utilizing the current 'aid' system. There are an abundance of vacant lots and empty, but still potentially useful properties in all of these areas.

3. Employ, as a condition of receiving 'aid', those in-need individuals to work in the distribution of basic food products and to prepare and serve, cafeteria style, 4 meals in each 24 hour period, just like in the military.

4. The same system of identification can be used as a sort of credit card for both the distribution of food products, the serving of meals and the distribution of basic clothing and household supplies.

5. This would reduce the total cost of a 'welfare' system's operation, require that useful work be done to earn the basic staples of living, teaching those, who aren't too lazy and ignorant to feel pride in pulling their own weight, skills to, sooner than later, withdraw from being 'on the dole' and get work in the private sector.

6. The same strategy can be applied to housing, with the city and county purchasing residential, multi-unit properties, requiring those wanting to live there to work to repair and restore said properties before residing within them.

Eliminate the 'section 8' housing subsidies, which mostly provide profits to slum landlords anyway, and those who have some of their own actual skin, and sweat, in their residences, with reasonably fair long-term leases and reduced rental costs, as their fair compensation for their labors, may have a substantially different perspective on how to conduct their lives.

7. Remove the stigma from publicly financed 'welfare', by restoring the natural requirement of work in exchange for benefit and break the generation to generation ignorant acceptance of being dependent upon government 'handouts', said handouts coming from the pockets of those who work and know the satisfaction of earning what they have.

And, should there be an objection to these programs being badly mismanaged, by those skilled in mismanaging, (city and county governments), contract the above services to only non-profit organizations currently engaged in authentic charitable enterprises and currently successful and efficient at doing so.

The above won't be an attractive alternative to the status quo for some individuals, but, as the saying goes, fuck them.

He thought it was a good idea for citizens from time to time to do away with their elected representatives, permanently.

Hence, the Second Amendment.

Believe me, the founding fathers knew very well what an elected government could become. However, they believed that the citizens of this country wouldn't stand for it. They had no idea that we would become the sheep that we are today.

You bet it IS a dumbocrat idea! Stupid liberals want control over everyone and their families as always. I have names that can be verified at the drop of a hat with just a phone call.

Typical names that always come up in the machine. Some of this idea was borne of the National Black Children's Institute which is firmly tied to the machine via the Cook County Office Of The Guardian Ad Litem, run mostly under the influence of William "Bill" Gomez.

Other names who hold credit for this engineering as part of the Chicago machine are: The Chief of The Cook County Circuit Court, certain storefront reverends already named on this site, DCFS leadership over on the west side along with high ranking, connected leadership at contracted private agencies, and of course the not so fine folks at city hall. Your favorite aldercreatures also had their hand in all of this.
