The Next Trend?

In England now, but coming to America?
  • Gun control groups have condemned a new “bullet-proof hoodie” which claims to protect against street violence.

The £300 Defender hoodie makes the wearer’s upper body invincible to every bullet up to a high velocity rifle, its makers claim.

It was developed by Bladerunner, a London based company which also makes stab-proof tops.

£300 works out to just under $600. Anyone who has seen the goofs killing one another over the $150 baseball hats can have no doubt that $600 for a hoodie to make you bulletproof is going to be a "must have" item shortly.

Be aware.

Thanks to AceofSpades for the tip

Would this be a good to time to mention how ridiculous it is that the US dollar is roughly less than half the value of the Brit Pound?

Jeez, it's pretty obvious the guys making this took their marketing classes at Kalumet Clown College!

Now if they just threw in some gold trim & a crown on the hood the Latin Kings would buy a bunch of 'em.

Maybe even offer to embroider the backs of 'em like that company "Neighborhoodies" does!

Look in any law enforcement equiptment or supply magazine and you will see the covert tactical body armor. They make them in Sports Team (Starter)jackets too. Nothing new, other than the fact tht it is a hooded sweatshirt...

I can only imagine that these aren' rigid if they're meant to look like regular articles of clothing. By that I mean layer upon layer of kevlar (like our vest) which I would imagine yes, would prevent round from going through the "fabric" but OUCH!!! I think whomever is on the receiving end is going to get pretty messed up and end up with a 1 inch indentation in their chest..
Not a ballistics expert just a thought.

"Defender Hoodie: Look Good, Avoid Bullets

Knife-proof, machine-washable T-shirt not enough protection for you out there on the mean streets? Bulletproof backpack insert just won't cover enough of your nice, lead-free body? Maybe you need a hoodie with 2mm of Type IIA bulletproofing, enough to stop a 9mm full-metal-jacket round at a velocity of 1,090 feet-per-second. The bad news, besides the $600 price tag, is that the protection is only in the body, not the hood itself. Bladerunner Ltd., UK-based retailer of the Defender Hoodie, says the pullover also protects you from unspecified "lesser ballistic threats." (Do the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune count?) The hoodie goes on sale sometime in the next month, so please, for your own sake, don't go pissing off any mailman/lunch lady/ex-girlfriend in the meantime."

Well, II-A is better than nothing but it won't stop anything bigger than a 9mm and the hood does not protect anything. I dunno, without a trauma plate you would still be pretty fucked up if you got shot with this on.

I'm skeptical. There's been bullet-proof vests forever, and I don't see a lot of gangbangers wearig them on a day-to-day.

When you guys arrest my mope clients, at least you have those cutesy powder blue vests, and a firearm to protect yourself. Once my client mopes are out of your hands, guess who they blame for their predicament when I tell them they are looking at some time? ME. I have no protection. You guys may respond quickly to a lawyer in distress, but it might be too late. Lots of lawyers have been killed by disgrutled mopes (the same ones you call shit birds). It might be a good idea to wear a comfortable armored hoodie in my office.

WHEN BODY ARMOR IS OUTLAWED…

…ONLY OUTLAWS WILL HAVE BODY ARMOR!

Do they make a matching jock-strap?

Could a Second Amendment case be made for body armor??

Why not?

Stay safe, wear your body armor.

Make the uniform standard. No more vest covers. Make cops wear only the vest that goes under the shirt. You see officers at a street corner roll call. The uniforms are all miss matched. Even the hats are all different.

The British Pound has been worth more than the US dollar for a long long time.

The Euro started out as par when it was introduced in 2002, that is one dollar for one Euro. Today one Euro costs $1.57

If you had money in European banks you are doing good, if not, you likely are in the same boat as the rest of us.
