A Time to Worry

  • THE scariest photo I have seen on the internet is www.spaceweather.com, where you will find a real-time image of the sun from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory, located in deep space at the equilibrium point between solar and terrestrial gravity.

What is scary about the picture is that there is only one tiny sunspot.

Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming, the average temperature on Earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously.

All four agencies that track Earth's temperature (the Hadley Climate Research Unit in Britain, the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York, the Christy group at the University of Alabama, and Remote Sensing Systems Inc in California) report that it cooled by about 0.7C in 2007. This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record and it puts us back where we were in 1930. If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over.

And we get to use this cool photo:

A completely blank solar disk. Precursor to an Ice Age? Good thing the mayor has been stockpiling salt.

What do you mean? Like snow salt? OK, if you're not going to give me the crime scene tape or the promotion, can I have some salt?

If anyone saw ABC News 20/20 from two weeks ago, here is a mythbuster for Al Gore and his global warnings:

http://newsbusters.org/node/20680?q=blogs/noel-sheppard/2008/04/22/abc-s-20-20-gore-used-fictional-film-clip-inconvenient-truth&urrr

The footage from An Inconvient Truth and the opening scene from the disaster flick The Day After Tomorrow are one and the same and to kick it further it is all COMPUTER GENERATED by HOLLYWOOD!

To think that he got a Nobel prize for stealing someone else's work and puching it off as his own.

GIVE BACK THE MONEY AL!

the Sun is actually just a star, and all stars lose their energy [heat] gradually until they burn out. They don't ever get hotter, just cooler, the longer they exist. Therefore, Global Warming is a meterological impossibility. If you don't believe me, ask a Meterorologist or an Astronomer. Global Warming is all about liberal politics and of course,

While global warming is very important, I want to take this opportunity to share some of my investigative acumen with those who aspire to become detectives.

(1)Never ignore footprints and tire marks in the new driven snowfall near a crime scene. They often lead you right to the culprit.

(2)When your victim has an apparently lodged (not through and through) GSW with no corresponding exit wound and the pathologist is unable to recover a pellet, consider that the offender probably used a pneumatic cattle bolt gun to inflict the wound.

(3)Study harder!

Got to go now. The game is afoot.

The Sun puts out more Ultra Violet radiation when it has a lot of sun spots. When we are at Solar Minimum, which we are now, the Sun radiates less Ultra Violet radiation.
The Sun's sun spot cycle is about 11 years long.

Because the Ultra Violet radiation coming from the Sun, directly effects the ionishpere, Ham radio operators all over the world are waiting for the next sun spot peak.

Sunspots appear (and disappear) in regular cycles. We are currently in the beginning of "cycle 24" and the number of sunspots will gradually increase over the next several years. The number of sunspots has nothing to do with how warm it is on earth. Remember that when the last cycle reached its peak a few years back satellite communications (along with shortwave radio) was negatively impacted by the increase in electromagnetic waves created by the sunspots.
Try Wikipedia next time.

You mean the west Antarctic Ice Sheet collapse? The one the "size of Rhode Island?"

You must have missed the part where that ice sheet was thinning for the past 10 to 20 years and was expected to collapse for a while now.

How about the East ice sheet? Thicker and growing more than at any time in recorded history.

the 'link' between sun spots and global warming is a theory- that is-a suggested link not proven- and we're only seeing one side of the sun at a time- perhaps one or two sunspots could be erupting on the other side?

Actually, the idiot who stated that the sun is star and "Global Warming is a meterological impossibility" is completely wrong. The sun is a star- true- however before the sun cools it will heat up, expand, and will engulf most of the 8 or 9 planets (which ever you believe) like every other star. After that time the sun will cool and shrink like J-Fed's dick now that he sees what his job is really like. Just like a CR number, global warming will happen. Jesus Christ, the last thing we need is more rumors!!!!
