- Cardinal Francis George said today he deeply regrets the Rev. Michael Pfleger’s videotaped “personal attack” on Hillary Clinton — and has received assurances from the firebrand priest that he won’t campaign for or publicly mention any candidate by name.
Wow. "Assurances." How about the Cardinal deny him a pulpit? How about transferring his dumbass to another parish in accordance with Archdiocesan rules that everyone else has to follow? Rules that were put into place to prevent exactly the sort of "personality cult" from developing that this jackass seems to revel in.
Who gives a crap if he leaves the church? The Chicago Archdiocese still owns the church, the school, the land. Either it supports itself or it gets shut down, same as dozens of other parishes city wide.

Being an activist who promotes positive public discourse is one thing. Being a priest who lives his values and lovingly and conscientiously teaches and demonstrates his beliefs is another. The video clearly illustrates that Father Pfleger is neither. As a Catholic, it was very hard for me to watch Father Pfleger put himself on display like that. And more troublesome is that the Cardinal allows it to continue.

Don't let up on the Cardinal. I too was appalled at the astonishingly weak response he gave after Pfleger's show became newsworthy. What ever happened to the other priest that used to be in the headlines with phleger about 20 yrs. ago Fr. Clement. The one who adopted all those boys. He sure fell off the face of the earth. My father, who worked in the old Area 3 used to tell me that they would get complaints of sexual abuse against him and it would get hushed up. I stayed during the sex scandals hoping that the church leadership would do what was necessary to address this abhorrent issue. After years of being investigated, they were forcefully held to admit what everyone knew to be true. It seems that the church leadership has much in common with our local "elected officials." (none of which I voted for) We are losing our pastor who has contributed so much to our parish community because "it is the policy of the Archdiocese to rotate its pastors every several years." I interpret that to mean if you abide by the rules, take care to spiritually minister to your flock and openly live an exemplary life at all times, you will unceremoniously get dumped by whim. The rules only apply to those who live by them. Just like us. What hypocrisy...time to cleanse the temple...all of them...it is a very sorry situation when the pillars rot like fish. There is no separation of Church and State..at least on the south side. Have you ever been on State St. on the South Side..ain't nothing but church's on State! I wish we could see Fr. The Catholic Faith is a beautiful faith and will always fill my heart. However, I stopped attending a Catholic Church some years ago when it came to light as to what extent the church went to protect pedophiles. Father Phleger's case is a far less serious and more of a spiritual crisis for him then for the church. The priests stealing were addressed, audits made and paid back (Fr. Lisowski, etc.) and others. I wasn't even born during WWII and the pedophiles issue has been addressed and a settlement made. I worked in Gresham for over six years and the only time Father Felon ever helped the police is if it made him look good in the media. Otherwise he was a thorn in our sides any chance he could be. He is a hate monger who should be moved out of the city to another church. The issue of "white entitlement" or any other race issue has no place on the pulpet of any church whose message is SUPPOSED to be faith, honesty, humility, love, and respect. Father Felon knows that he has no other outlet (i.e. media) that pays him any attention like they do Jessie, Sharpton and their likes so this is his way to get the publics attention. The Sunday sermon is meant to send a message to the parisioners who then may reflect on it and possibly relate it to their own lives with the hope of bettering themselves. What message did he send to those listening? That whitey doesn't think you (blacks of any kind since Obama is half white) deserve to hold positions of power and definatly not ever be prsident. This is how it all seems to work in Chicago, whether in the private sector (Alderman O'Connor's wife), government (the police pension board, Aldermen O'Connor and Mell, the Park Grill, etc.) or religion (St. Sabina). They create the rules, but the rules are only used to move us out of the way from what they want. We had seven kids in my family and my dad worked 2, 3, and sometimes even 4 jobs to make ends meet. I'm gonna go to church and spy for the Cardinal. I won't stand out, there's already a honky there.
Why does he talk with that accent? Where did he grow up and is his family proud? Hee's not Catholic, that's a certainty.
Received a mass card for my parents and went to Christmas Midnight Mass at St. Sabina about 12 years ago.
We had moved from the Gresham neighborhood in the late 60's.
We got to the church around 10:30 pm. The place was packed.
With the exception of the kneelers being removed and the pews being upholstered the church looked to be in great shape.
I wont comment on the huge black hands coming out of the black Jesus that decorated the altar. Anyway, around 10:45 every light in the church is turned off.
The place is completely dark and then they turn on 2 spotlights up in the choir loft. The spotlights are aimed at the ceiling and stars are cut into the gels. Then the dancing starts and the procession to the center aisle with the black baby Jesus being lifted and held aloft, kind of like in "Roots".
For the next 2 hours, there was nothing I recognized as a Catholic mass. I kept trying to follow along in the bulletin to correlate where in the mass we were supposed to be.
Phather Phleger was ripe that night. It was hard to imagine anyone who had grown up in St. Thomas More would have the balls to try to affect a black accent.
But there he was, up there in front, shuckin and jiving. I wondered how many black Catholics could take this seriously. But then I thought about being able to fool some of the people all of the time and like that.
Then I thought maybe somebody must have cracked his head on a 79th St. curb a few times and he didn't know any better.
But the Mass itself, it was what you could envision a Vegas-Motown review to be like.
Finally leaving the church, and hastily walking to the car, I thought about my parents.
If they weren't already dead, and would have been present for this "service", it would have killed them.
But I do have to admit the upholstered pews were really nice and not having to kneel at all during the service was something that would have made Mass a lot more tolerable as a kid who grew up going to Catholic schools.
All I can say is St. Sabina was neve like that when I was a kid, neither was St. Thomas More, from whence Phather Phleger was deported.

Somebody with Photo Shop should print up "money" with Pfleger's picture. Everyone should start printing this money and dropping in their Church donation envelopes. Everyone should place Pfleger money in the Cardinal appeal envelope.
Several years ago, the Southtown ran an article about Pfleger. The article mentioned how is his father couldn't stand his son's behavior and racist rants.

As suggested by one of your readers, I read excerpts of Michelle Obama's thesis. In my opinion, it's very clear, based on that paper, that she probably has never felt any patriotism or love for this country. The fact that she backstepped on that remark makes me believe she is both a racist and a liar.
And as for Obama's demand that the press lay off his wife, she's going to be the first lady. They have every right to scrutinize her.

I hear what you're saying but that's not how it works. You choose something. You identify with it. You worship in a certain way. You obviously didn't see the rest of the video: Phleger removes his robe and proceeds to moon-walk out of the church with his Hilfiger jeans hanging precariously off his ass. He gets to the curb and ghetto handshakes a few playas before entering a 2008 Chrysler 300 with 22-inch blades that was blaring "Fity Cent". He then reclines the seat to the preset "gangsta lean" position and speeds off to Harolds #37 for a wing and perch combo. After obtaining his meal, he pulls out of the Harold's lot without signaling, is promptly pulled over by a beat car and asks the white officers if they stopped him because he is black.

Wasn't that amazing? Wright said it too. I mean, they say something horrible and irrefutable, then claim it's a sound byte. Do they think everyone is as delerious as them? If you're going to say it. Man up and admit that you meant what you said. Don't say that it was misunderstood.
