Reap What You Sow

  • Homicides in Chicago rose by almost 9 percent, while violent crime was up more than 6 percent in the first four months of 2008, compared with the same period last year, Police Supt. Jody Weis said Friday.

Weis blamed the uptick in violence on "unique" sets of multiple homicides, including two triple murders and a quintuple homicide, all in April. In April, there were 47 murders, compared with 34 the year before. A total of 134 homicides were tallied over the first four months of the year, compared with 123 in 2007.
Now you know EXACTLY why J-Fed and his one trick pony show are coming to theaters near you. "Unique" set of circumstances our asses. Apathy is taking hold and the City is about to reap the whirlwind. This was the coolest April in eleven years, the coldest winter in almost as long and killings are up 9%.

TRU lost 90 officers - we're sure they'll all feel like working extra hard, especially those guys who live north and suddenly find themselves in Area 1 and 2, far from home, looking at increased gas costs to get to work with no contract for a year and no contract on the horizon. Yup, they'll be all over that homicide rate. Five-to-one odds that much of the next transfer order is ex-TRU guys bidding out of those Areas.

And the 40 guys trained on M-4s? Too bad the City hasn't even ordered those rifles yet and they're training on M-16s that will never leave the station. Get a load of Monique's quote:
  • Over the next three years, the goal is to have a carbine weapon in every patrol vehicle and officers trained to use them, said spokeswoman Monique Bond.
But what about that POWER test? Is that out the window? Is Monique backtracking all over that "grasping for breath" makes the barrel move up and down? Hmmm? We'll see a camera in every patrol car before we see a carbine.

Schools are out in three weeks, gangs aren't feeling the pressure and Daley is praying that global warming is a myth. Remember Rule #1 - every officer goes home safe. Every goddamned one of us.

What wasnt reported was that gun recoveries were down by more than 200 as compared to last year and that there were more than 150 agg batts more this year than last. The murder rate doesnt tell the whole story.

The most RETARDED thing about all of this is deep down no one really feels any different. Sure there are Professional Dogs, but most of us just want to do the job we were hired to do. Why else would we take this f-ed up job and be forced to live in this f-ed up City that we can't even f-ing afford to buy a decent home in????? We are GOOD at it, and we WANT to do it. But until we get some LEADERS and some pols that really will back us up (not the SOS-We'll-take-care-of-you-but-leave-you-on-the-Behavior-Watch-List-for-years-style b.s.) they can bite the big one.

Iceberg?, In lake Michigan? There can't be an iceberg right ahead. You forget, I was an FBI man,and I would ahve been informed if there were icebergs in lake Michigan.

And my newest bestest friend, little dick Daly would have alerted me.

Full speed ahead, damn the icebergs.

I'll still take the power test for the cash because it costs the city more money. The other power tests can be stuck where the sun don't shine.

Until I see that my fellow officers who have put in the time and may have been injured on the job don't have to take one, that's all they get.

You know, being in decent shape helps, but since I might still "grasp for breath" when the pressure is on, I'm rethinking what I'm willing to get myself into. I don't want my pistol to "waver up and down." That might put someone at risk. Thanks for that little bit of information. I never realized how unsafe that could be until an expert from the department pointed it out to the media.

Hey, how do you think we look to the Olympic committee now that the contract is being negotiated in the media and they think we're all out of shape and have no long guns available in case some crazy terrorist decides to attack an event like that?

You know, I've carried on of those M4's before. My DD214 shows that and where I've carried it. Never failed to qualify expert. Too bad about that power test thing. Real shame about that crime rate too. Rio for the Olympics? Always wanted to go.

Regarding the sgt list,
I'd like to say that it's been almost 2 years now since the 2nd part of the test (june 24, 2006) and only 125 sgt's have been made. That's it. And out of that only 88 off the list.
One of the major incentives that drives people to work (public and private sector) is the hope of one day being promoted and advancement in thier career. That's what makes a lot of people work harder and study more and try to do the right thing. But, by only making 125 sgts in 2 years, what kind of message is that sending to everyone. You almost have no chance of making rank and moving forward in your career.
If, as j-fed states, we have 13,500 p.o.'s, then your chance right now of actually making sgt is
.0092% and making it LEGIT off the list right now is around .0065%. That just really makes you want to study for the next one doesn't it. I think that you've got to go deeper into these lists, like up to 500-700 OFF THE LIST, so people can really feel like they have a chance to make it and really give these tests thier all. Right now after 2 years only 88 p.o.'s have been made sgt off the list. It just makes you feel like studying for these tests is a complete waste of time.

In the good old days, the "power test" was not a physical test but just one question, "Who do you know?"

As far as I am concerned, they can shove their M-4's up their asses and the ass of the Aldermen's brother who will have the contract to sell them to the City.

If I can hit them with my six shooter wheel gun and the six extra bullets in my dump pouch... well I am just getting back in my car and leaving.

OT. Why don't the unions make more of a stink about the city's not filling budget positions (det.s, sgt.s, lt.s). The money that the city saves by undercutting staff is used for what??? I believe that money goes back to the general fund for all around looting by the mayor and aldermen. One of the first responsibilities of paid representatives should be to ensure that the maximum number of department members achieve advancement and that the department is adequately staffed. The Lieutenant's website claims about 22 vacancies and I think that they are not including the 9 newly promoted Captains. Right there is about a quarter million dollars a year. How many budgeted Sergeants and detectives spots remain open? Lets not even get into P.O. positions. Crime is on the rise and yet the city wants us to do more with less. How much money is being siphoned away from the department to pay over priced vendors for shiny beans and dash board cameras? Someone in the know needs to publish these numbers for both us and the press.

"QUOTE OF THE WEEK"

Alderman Ed Burke indicated after the passage of the ordinance ordering that dogs be neutered by the time they are 6 months old. When he was asked how the ordinance would be enforced the response was "A police officer can stop a gang banger who is walking his pit bull down the street and pick up the tail of the dog and check to see if the dog is in compliance."

I believe his bodyguards should do this when they are not driving the alderman around, picking up his orange juice and newspaper.

Off topic but did but did anyone watch 20/20 last nigh????topic: the police culture of protecting our own even to the point of a coverup. The ABBATTE video once again was shown over and over again, the jefferson tap incident was shown also. Be aware they think chicago police are out of control and need to be raned in and think they have to answer to no one. They had that proffesser on again that hates the police looking like a crackhead who needs a hit talking about studying 10,000 cr#'s that where filed against p.o.'s where no punishment was given. It was so one sided that if you where an average citizen and watched this show you would be outraged at the conduct alleged on this show. The microscope on us just got a whole lot bigger and Jody who was also on the show was no help at all, where is the F.O.P. on this.Everyone contact the F.O.P.and notify them as to what's going on this is starting to get out of hand,we need the F.O.P. to speak up because everyone they had on this show was against the police.Make sure that when you comment on this blog you really should remain anonymous because you never know who is reading these reply's and comments. We really need to start coming together othrewise they will continue to pulls us apart P.O by P.O.Stop worrying about petty differences and stop making these stupid comments on the blog becaus i'm quite sure not just the higher ups are reading this blog but other so called "IMPORTANT PEOPLE" are on this blog also,so when we put stupid comments on this blog they are watching and with the media controlling mainstream America we better start looking at the big picture, there will be a reaction from the department and from the city be assured just be ready for it. Ok, so who saw the 20/20 special last night? Did anyone recognize any of the officers that were followed to their cars from the bar? Why did 20/20 make it seem like it was a crime to drink? Even in the bar before they even know how the cops got here they were even surprised someone was on their second drink. Maybe the amazement is that cops can enjoy alcohol instead of the drug of choice like some of the media. I have said it before and I will say it again, a bunch of you should band together and film the media on their personal time, come on boys and girls and blue! If your spouse was having an affair you would probably follow them around to catch them so why not catch the media? No breaks on media ever if I was you guys, isn't that what they frown upon?

Just seeing, hearing, or reading what that ignorant, skeletal looking, unknowing, clueless (pardon the redundancy), pasty ass, bitch of spokesperson Monique Bond pontificates makes me ill. The genetic process sure got confused when this asshat was conceived.

How the Department allows her to be the "face" and "word" for us is beyond belief.

As big as a kiss ass the Sun Tan Boy was he was an easy 100% better then this "blowhard" (you may read between the lines if you wish).

We all know that Jacque Heard – Mayors Daley’s Press Secretary – makes the decision who each Department spokesperson will be. I have one request from Ms. Heard. Although this idiot Monique is either: your cousin; your ex-college room mate; your mother’s aunt’s third cousin removed hairdresser's daughter; whatever the connection is please get rid of her. -----------------------------
That should make us all aware of how scarce and valuable a merit promotion is. A merit promotion allows you to beat 100-1 odds, and enhances your earnings history by nearly a half million dollars over a career. Think about how many people have had a couple bites of the apple, three, four. Some from the same family.

Yet, they will give away a merit promotion for a phone call or blow job.

Then they say some people get the answers ahead of time, and you compete with them for the 88 spots.

Jody was a young SAC, so he had to put in to become a supervisor early on. He is also from a small to medium office, so he has little or no big city time. Why him?

The mayor went to Rob Grant SAC Chicago and said "Ok, you pick someone to clean up the department." Rob picked his pal Jody (just like they do in the City.) Jody took the job because he couldn't turn away from that kind of money. The mayor looks great because as eveyone knows, the FBI is the best and can fix anything, and Rob probably is going to lay off his friend Jody.
After a while, they will realize that big city police work is tough. Jody will leave, and the FBI will be off your back for a while.

Winston Churchill said "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others." It's the same with the CPD. I've lived here for 20 years, done both jobs, and have met good, and bad in both. Working with the city, I've found most will do the job well. Many more are passionate about the job and will perform above the call of duty no matter who the bosses are. Bottom line morale comes from within your heart.

I hope Jody does well, I beleieve he will probably walk away with a better understanding of how difficult it is to run a big city police department. If that information goes back to the Feds, all the better. Stay safe, and hold on, this summer is going to be busy.

May 17; Iowa City, IA

On Friday, May 9th, Mike went to the prison infirmary at North Central Correctional Facility complaining of sickness and a pain in his lower right abdomen. The nurse merely gave Mike a laxative and told him that nothing was wrong with him.

On May 13th, Mike's appendix burst and another prison nurse had him transported to the local hospital. He was subsequently transferred to the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Antibiotics failed to cure the infection.

Today, the Mette Family was notified that Mike will undergo an appendectomy. The surgical procedure may include a partial removal of his COLON due to infection.

OT,

U.N. racism investigator to visit U.S. from Monday
Fri May 16, 2008 2:48pm EDT

By Stephanie Nebehay

GENEVA (Reuters) - A special U.N. human rights investigator will visit the United States this month to probe racism, an issue that has forced its way into the race to secure the Democratic Party's presidential nomination.

The United Nations said Doudou Diene would meet federal and local officials, as well as lawmakers and judicial authorities during the May 19-June 6 visit.

"The special rapporteur will...gather first-hand information on issues related to racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance," a U.N. statement said on Friday.

His three-week visit, at U.S. government invitation, will cover eight cities -- Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, Omaha, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Miami and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

... The money that the city saves by undercutting staff is used for what??? I believe that money goes back to the general fund for all around looting by the mayor and aldermen ...
---

One of the ways that exempts "look good" and prove they do their job is by running their units under budget and returning money to the City, budgeted funds but not spent. Many or most commanders are required to do their own budget, I think districts do not, not sure.

This Mayor and his cronies know more ways to hide or steal money through budgetary sleight of hand than anyone can imagine. Running units below budgeted/authorized strength is one major way of plugging so-called holes in the budget.

Where do you think Daley gets money to pay for shit like Shakman payouts, defending lawsuits on account of Daley's corrupt bungling and the like?

We all pay, as for the Sgt's list, it is almost time for a new Sgt's test. Didn't Daley promise promotional tests every two years?????

WOW, since the original SCC had a heart situation your standards have been lowered. Get real, if you know police work you know that it is the pendulum effect. Kinda like a rollercoster...peaks and valleys. Well we've been in a peak for a respectable period based on historical crime statistics and now we are going back into the valley. But for SCC to quote the B.S. of statistical nonsense i.e. "killings are up 9%" get real this only equals to 10-12 bodies, O my!!! I guess the sky is falling. You wanna play lets frolic, just a little, if you look at the same time period for 2006 on a YTD basis we are 20.....I repeat 20!!! bodies ahead of a year when the total homicide rate reached in 2006 of 471. You know SCC I could continue but WHY! Please don't become a tool for the other side of the real police. Yeah I know, your gonna castigate me ect. ect., I just don't care! One last thind Bud, do all of us a favor and don't deal with kline (overfed)era numbers, expand your horizons and look into the early and mid nineties, seventies ect. Otherwise, U ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5/17/2008 01:27:00 AM

----------------------

The problem is the new leaders do not understand real street police work and they will throw you to the wolves if they catch you doing it.

That use to mean, letting little fish go for information. Strong arming dealers for John Doe search warrants. Convincing mommas that searching junior's room is in her best interest. Stopping the same person on the street every single time you see them. Stoppping cars, searching them, and letting them go, rather than preparing a little audio/video story about why they were stopped.

That is why many bad guys used to spend their summers in Cook Co. Jail.

Those days are over. And if you are out there still doing those things, you better steel yourself for prison because that's where you're headed.

This is no joke. Things will be very bad this summer, so be careful.

J-Fed was shocked that two gangbangers (probably holding guns or dope or both) ran away when he got out of the car.

He said they were afraid because he was dressed in black and they thought he was swat. So now, the streets will be safe so long as cops wear BDU's.

We are so screwed.

You think morale can't get lower?
Wait until crime skyrockets this summer and the Chicago Police are NATIONALLY ridiculed as a useless police force.

Merit lists...stop bitching.

You whine because the FOP doesn't react to all the rumors that come from the blog. Stop moaning.

Try getting a million dollar pension in the corporate world. That's unheard of. Stop bitching.

Are you going to get fired for suspended because the gangbangers are shooting at each other. No!
So why are you complaining about the #'s.

You say morale is low because of Abatte, the SOS scandal and idiots falsifying arrest reports. How?

I make the same paycheck and have a lot less stress!

The thugs in the streets know we just don't give a shit any more and it shows with all this violence. The City cannot hide it anymore and the media is starting to pick up on the apathy.

The truth is that only about 1000 officers on this whole department ever did the type of policing that is now banned. Those were the ones who spent their entire day, every day, looking for arrests. Those were the ones pushing the envelope and locking up 90% of bad guys.

The other 9000 officers either did nothing or just went with the flow. As much as they complain, their job never changed.

J-Fed is using meetings to reach out to the 9000 officers who never did anything anyway. He's listing merit promotions, offering different schedules, and promising new guns. Here's a news flash Jody, the officers you are reaching out to never did anything, and no matter what you offer, they never will.

The 1000 workers on this department never gave a shit about any of that stuff. They arrested people, went to court, and arrested more people, so they could get more court. They took tests, and if they didn't do well, they just went out and arrested more people, and waited for the next test.

Jody, those are the officers you are threatening to send to jail. Those are the officers with the complaints. Those are the officers who stopped working.

But, in the end its not really J-Fed's fault, and I don't think there is anything he can do to fix it. It's the citizens who wanted those 1000 officers stopped. So, they stopped.

And now Jody and the media and the mayor can sit around and discuss why there is so much violence. Well, its been going on in these neighborhoods for the last 60 years and, unless they get moved out, it will be going on in the same neighborhoods for another 160 years.

They had forums about violence, and money, and jobs, and families, and parents, and schools back in 1960. They didn't come up with any magic answer then, they won't now.

You used to have about 1000 cops who kept the heat on these thugs. Now, all you can do is clean up the mess.

Good Luck.

Well, Let them deny me the right and ability to carry an M-4. If I get killed or injured by some gang banger who outgunned me because I was denied the opportunity to carry
equal firepower that I qualified Expert with in the Army ... and my Family will own the Silver Bean in Grant Park or perhaps Da Mayors summer home in Michigan. Is the city really that Dumb !!!

What wasnt reported was that gun recoveries were down by more than 200 as compared to last year and that there were more than 150 agg batts more this year than last. The murder rate doesnt tell the whole story.

5/17/2008 12:09:00 AM

RIGHT. Agg Batt are ALL that matter becuase if the bullet strikes the guy in the arm nobody cares ...but if BY COMPLETE CHANCE the bullet moves over 3 inches it kills the guy. It's just COMPLETE chance that it ends up and Agg Batt as opposed to a homicide. Pretty Bizarre if you think about it .....

Little excerpt from Ch 5: J-fed was spouting off "Guns, we want you to go out there and get guns off the street..."

Lemme see.....I think I have heard that rant before,,, where did I,,,

(Who is the cop on here that keeps posting "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss..." I just hope: WE WONT GET FOOLED AGAIN!)

-----------------------

We don't need a freaking IDEOLOGICAL CHEERLEADER, we need a boss.

You gotta respect the rank .... but you don't have to respect the person.

im a working p.o still... but i and my two partners will go home safe everyday over breaking our balls over these gangbaning as@holes anyday. mr. daley, you have destroyed this department...jody, i do not blame you for this horrible department, i blame the mayor and the aldermen...i think you are just another unfortunate victim......just like us.

5/17/2008 03:25:00 AM

Partly right. Please don't forget the national media .... PLEASE .... they are shining the light on all our pimples ... and they are hiding the pimple cream .... they HAVE AN AGENDA ..... they don't want the police to get better .... they stroke their liberal cocks as they fan they flames of hate and ceaselessly rabble-rouse the 'no account' liberals who do not want a government ...much less a police force telling them ANYTHING .... and they use 'racial bating' and 'thin blue line' as their weapons of choice ...

The national media has moved their offices into the midwest ... previously they were content on 'perfecting' the LAPD and NYPD ....

IDEOLOGICAL utopianists one-and-all ... they beleive they can perfect a group of guys who are the police ... they can beat the humanity and imperfections out of them - they believe ...as liberals have ALWAYS beleived that man and government are perfectible ....

They can call us out for our fuck-ups and we honestly can't bitch .... becuase they are right ... but their is an ideology at work behind it .... if the Marine Corps was operating where they coward media could watch thet'd be getting the same shit....

an IDEOLOGICAL utopian beast ...such as th print and telvision MEDIA will NEVER be satiated .... there's NO SOLUTION ...

Off Topic, But all SCC Readers should be aware that they should be advised NOT TO SHOP AT KALE UNIFORMS. Recent experience of mine was horrible. Expect to make it an hour plus experience when you shop there and when you do purchase something, do not expect to be treated with respect and to be able to exchange or return defective uniform & equipment. They take us Chicago Officers for granted and want to take our money and then screw us over. From this last experience of mine, they will never see another penny of mine. Shop and spend your money at any other Uniform shop, but DO NOT SHOP @ KALE UNIFORM, GO ELSEWHERE.

I stopped giving them my money in 1988. they sucked then, they suck now.

Just look at the employees there and you know everything that needs to be known.

J-Fed was shocked that two gangbangers (probably holding guns or dope or both) ran away when he got out of the car.

He said they were afraid because he was dressed in black and they thought he was swat. So now, the streets will be safe so long as cops wear BDU's.

We are so screwed.

****

I heard that comment, like he felt his power as a real police officer. He is so in awe of the working CPD. Clueless. Yeah lets all wear BDU's and scare them away.

90 po's from Tru back in districts, good start. Manpower was needed, and still is. Tru was a terrible idea of phils to help his friends. Put the rest in districts where they are needed!

Hey SCC how about a post concerning the way that P.O.'s in the BIS program were all removed suddenly from the program today. The letter stated that the department did not follow the order by placing the P.O.'s in the program at the start. Anyone have advice on any possible recourse against the department?

Just be greatful you're not in it anymore you fucking misfit. I know, I know, you were wrongly placed in the program....BULLSHIT. Retard.

hey 2 year wonder - these officers wrongly placed on the bis have a genuine grievance

They sell overpriced garbage and don't care. Spend as little as you can on uniforms. No more than seven shirts, seven pants. Dryclean them, don't wash them, they will last for years. Screw Kales. They don't respect you. See what you can buy at Sportmart for the price of your three-seasons jacket. Drop $300 at Wilson leathers and see how the quality and workmanship compares to what they sell at Kales. They sell the same shit at four times what it should cost. As far as the employees, I know what you mean.

There is no more good reason to bust our asses out there! NONE, no contract (the city proposed a 1.5% annual increase), no bosses worth a damn,(used to be if you made a mistake trying to do the right thing, they'd help you all the could, now they just make you blow and hang you out to dry)etc.... Take care of you and your partner and go home safe. Operation Slow Down should be in full effect.
